    Sir, I watch your videos since a very long time and I am currently in 8th standard, my parents have mentioned or regarded no such pressure in context of my education but as a student, I am often worried about my own. I want to do well in few of the olympiads like (RMO, NSEJS, and senior olympiads in future). Much to my dismay, coaching doesn't help me in these cases rather you have to prepare it yourself and I am completely fine by that. I have contemplated much if I want to continue coaching or not, this stems from the fact that when I try to prepare myself for such olympiads, I get a lot of doubts, I have followed your suggestion to understand the topics on my own, and I try to do that, still I get hindrance. (For example, some topics of Inorganic Chemistry is where I get stuck on). The teachers at my coaching don't really teach anything "extra" as in such but they are always ready to clear my doubts. In future, neither do I want any high paying job nor I really have dreams getting into an IIT. Rather I want to do something in the field of Science, I am still not a cent percent sure that if I should continue my coaching.
    My only question will be, should I be doing these olympiads completely with my own resources and knowledge, or try from coaching?
    Please Sir, help me in this regard of my choices.
    (I am really sorry if this is somewhat not related to the video but I would be grateful for your advice.)

    Bachcha log, sarkari naukri chahiye toh diploma kar lo, 11th 12th mat karo. IITians don't run for sarkari naukri anyway.
    What branch to choose? Ranked,
    1) Electrical (50%)
    2) Mechanical (25%)
    3) Civil (25%)
    (Talking for govt jobs, stable job & ok-ish pay). You can do 3 years degree later if you wish. (But note that you need to clear 12th PCM + JEE mains, advanced to go in IIT which is a lot harder)
    But if you want to earn a lot with hardwork, then do 12th + 4 years CS/IT.

    Sir watching your videos is really eye opening for this small teenager. Especially I have watched your problem solving video and as a 9th class student now I am working on it and doing the things whatever you have said.Let see how much my problem solving will get improved. I will really share it on mid-January.
    By the way sir, I want to ask that is it important to take sleep at least for 6 hours. Cause for improving myself and building my interest in maths and physics , I am thinking that one day in a week I should sleep 3 hours cause there are other work that I need to manage like workout, reading self improvement books, meditation , journaling and programming.
    So what's your advice for me cause I also want to know more about physics and mathematics and explore on my own and get to know it's real beauty but always getting tired and my school stuff , these thing becomes real hurdle for me to explore these subjects. And as you say that we always not get good teacher so I always have to most of thing my own.
    By the way thank you sir, your selfless service towards student will be very beneficial.
    ❤from Pranjal, Class-9

    • @Prof_JC
      @Prof_JC  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Dear Pranjal, I commend you on your efforts towards self-improvement. However, please never ever compromise on your sleep, especially not in these teenage years. If that means that you have to sacrifice certain aspects of self-improvement ... so be it. If you deprive yourself of sleep on a weekly basis, your health will suffer and then nothing good will come of it.
      Take a few months at a time. If you manage to proceed genuinely in problem solving in the next few months, it will be a tremendous achievement.
      I know sometimes the routine work of school life can feel like a drudgery. But remember sometimes we need to do the things which we have to do so that later we can do what we want to do! So go through the grind now. Avoid the mentality that some of the school studies are completely useless just because you happen to be interested in Physics and Mathematics.
      When I was in school, I used to hate Social Studies. But, now, looking back, I realise their importance. Before you can become a scientist or an engineer, you have to become a complete human being. Your school studies (I know this is boring advice ... but true) does actually contribute towards that end. Trust me on this.
      So, maintain your love and enthusiasm for Physics and Mathematics ... and keep working at the fundamentals little by little ... so that later when the time comes to specialise in these areas (in +2), you are ready and mature for them.
      All the best!

    Sir, I truly agree with you, but as a parent if we don't try these avenues for our kids, then suddenly the kid can't increase his knowledge in 11th grade..one more challenge in the present scenario is schools doesn't teach kids properly as each period is for 40 minutes and the time goes off in solving couple of problems or few concepts in science...so kids require coaching centre for good foundation

    Just a tip sir. I think TH-cam has introduced a feature of dubbing , where you can dub the video and the viewers can select from the options to watch in their preferred language (I don't know if it's available to all but I saw Tom Scott and Mrbeast do it). In this way from the next time you can do it in one video and say it in the video as a disclaimer.
    P.S- Also Sir I'm a big fan , I'm a Jee 2025 aspirant . I wish to go to a reputed IIT in the future. Thank you Sir for all the tips and inspirations.

      I saw the dubbing related video of Tom Scott. It seems to involve a lot of intricate work to get the lip sync right. Personally, since I don't have a dedicated team - I make my videos completely on my own - I think it is simpler to just make a separate video for the two languages. All the best for JEE 2025!

    I wish someone had done counselling for my career as well when I was younger. I had other interest apart from studies but no one bothered to focus on that and ultimately I had to take the path which I was not much interested in and just to follow the herd. Today I am 40 frustrated with my career and life. Sir if possible could you please advise what can we do now. I believe there is a big number of people who just accidently picked their career and now feel stuck and frustrated. Thank you.
    P.S.: The thing which is most frustrating is that you feel that you had the potential to achieve heights but now you are stuck and helpless just because you didn't get right guidance at right time. That's your only fault.

    • @Prof_JC
      @Prof_JC  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for frankly expressing your feelings. Honestly, however, I only have the experience of helping young students or recent graduates. I have never thought of situations like yours. But let me try:
      Try to think of something which you were really interested in doing when you were younger. It is still possible to cultivate skills in that direction. You have to accept that in all likelihood you are not going to achieve professional success in that area. For example, if you take up a musical instrument at this age ... you are probably not going to end up being a professional musician. But it can still - and I say this with all seriousness - that you can still derive a lot of inner satisfaction with such a dedicated endeavour which ties in to the heartfelt desires of your younger self. And, it might still be possible to become a part of an amateur community of like-minded individuals and participate in some things in a semi-professional way. It can be tremendously fulfilling.
      Leaving aside what any of these efforts may lead to, the very act of learning something purely for one's pleasure can be extremely fulfilling. As we grow older, it begins to feel that our life is not our own that it is just a reaction to what society wants, to what our family wants. So, the simple act of just deliberately giving oneself some time to learn and focus can turn out to be therapeutic.
      I hope my suggestion helps you somewhat.

    Pranam Sir... I am a student, currently reading in class 11 and I have some serious issues to discuss with you. Sir my passion is to do engineering and to do research on a particular subject. But my mother always wanted to me to be a doctor and so she always tells me to give the NEET ug exam. But Sir I am not interested in it at all. So Sir I am always being scolded about the matter. Another concern is that I had to go to coaching at Kota because of some reasons. Sir I read in a Government sponsored school. When the results of my class 10 board exams was declared by the WBBSE, my teachers discouraged me by saying that for my exaggeration I had scored low marks in the examination. I was totally devastated upon hearing the statements and my father was also humiliated by the teachers along with me. So I had to come to Kota to take coaching for clearing the JEE entrance exam. But unfortunately Sir after spending some time in Kota, I realised that the community in which I study is totally different from what I thought before arriving. After my conversation with some of my classmates and seniors, I understood that most of them were just studying to clear the entrance examination. They only want to achieve success through getting into the IITs and getting placements from there and many of them wanted only IIT Bombay CSE branch. If they got any other branch, then they would not go. Sir I was totally demotivated by hearing these kind of thoughts. Also my teachers who taught me in coaching told that I could not remember anything though I had shown keen interest in studying science. Sir please do read this message and give me some suggestions so that I would succeed in life. Thank you so much for your valuable thoughts Sir. I wish I will have the chance to meet you in IIT Kharagpur. My village is just few hours from there. Please help me Sir.

    Respected sir , I want to know which one is better for my kid , homeschooling or normal local school , and for ur notice I am being his mother I am aware of all the necessary things required during learning , I had a 6 months experience of reading test and analysts teacher where I have encountered learning abilities around 300 - 400 students individually ! I have good efficiency in teaching anything from nursery to 12 th class all subjects ! Should I opt for homeschooling????

    • @Prof_JC
      @Prof_JC  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Normal school is better than homeschooling, in my opinion. The way I understand is that even if a child gets the world's best teachers at his home, there are certain life lessons to be learnt in the social life of school that are absolutely necessary and which can be learnt through homeschooling.

      Bro iit mein aane ke baad bhi peer pressure khatam nhi hota na hi parents ka pressure. Logo ka baate sunna thora kam karo aur apne interest ke cheeze karo. Parents ko samjhao ki tumhara kaha mann hai. Kuch famous log iit se hai aur unke success dekhke log iit ko sabkuch maan lete hai. Par har saal kitne log IIT se graduate ho raha hai par tumhe pata hoga bas 7-10 naam jo famous huye hai. Baki log high paid corporate slaves bane padhe hai aur kuch log usse bahar nikale civil services kar rahe hai. Kuch log TH-cam wagera ke option bhi dekh rahe hai. Few are also there who went for higher studies. To zyada socho mat aur apne interest pe kaam karo. End result bas happiness hona chahiye. Everything you do, you must be ultimately happy with family. Bohot accha kamana hamesha khusi nhi deti bhai.

      You do not need to find interest and talent in someone else, interest and talent manifest themselves in the person naturally whenever it's the right time. For now, kindly be patient and focus on inculcating moral values, ethics and soft skills in him, if possible. Motivate him to try out different things, like music, sports, academics, drama, debate, painting, etc. He is sure to possess some special ability in one of these.

    Sorry sir, but you are talking out of emotions.So, I will suggest you "Wake up to reality".Yes,as your are a professor at IITKgp ,I can see your concern but I think be open minded not narrow minded.Go through few philosophies of life and your concern will be gone.Don't get hurt by my words but I also used to think like that and I am one of those guys who was preparing for JEE from 6th.If you will understand about life more genuinely you will get clarified all these doubts.Hope you just rethink what I am talking about.🙏

Though here in my university, Jadavpur University, we have a professor of Thermodynamics (Achintya Mukhopadhyay sir) who, in his spare time, spends hours and hours speaking with even fresher students, like a friend. We can freely interact with him regarding all sorts of issues. For the students of JU, he is like God.
