- Baxter and Jonathan get their hands on on the Revstar from Yamaha. The Standard and the Professional models are in the hands of the boys and they are torn on what one to get. Yamaha’s Revstar Standard RSS02T is an update of the original Revstar series of guitars, refined to offer improved comfort and even more striking visuals! This maple-topped double-cut’s lightweight chambered mahogany body is loaded with two rich and warm sounding VP5 pickups that deliver classic P-90 tones - from clean jazz textures on the neck pickup to wild overdriven leads on the bridge. The neck is comprised of carbon-reinforced mahogany so that it will stay straight and true in even the most challenging of environments. What’s more, Yamaha has equipped this Revstar with their proprietary “focus” switch that shifts your tone’s resonant frequency and supercharges your pickup’s power. If you’re looking for a high-performance, no-nonsense axe with explosive tones, rock-solid playability, and sleek modern aesthetics, the RSS02T sets the standard.

I have 2 Revstar pros. A p90 and humbucker versions. They are my favorite guitars hands down. I recently purchased the Pacifica pro and will be selling my strat. I’m officially a Yamaha fanboy. Amazing guitars.
I've owned several Yamahas over the years: motorcycles and guitars.
Had a Yamaha 12 string acoustic back in the late '70s. Sold it to a friend of mine in the mid '80s. He still has it and absolutely will not sell it back to me.
Motorcycles are made by a separate company.
I love the Revestars so much I got the standard and p90. Soooo underrated!!!
I own a black Revstar Standard with P-90s. It’s amazing! I wish it came in a gold top!
What a great video. Good to see yall get onboard with the RevStar. Great guitars.
The ability for Indonesian factories to produce an end product that's competitive has never been the issue... The way they get there is the issue.... Indonesia is the #1 country in the world for ocean pollution... Minimum Wage in Indonesia also comes out to less than $1 an hour.... you can take a wild guess at $1 an hour what the healthcare and benefits are like along with OSHA standards. I think its high time we as an industry raised the bar.
That's great and I agree, but companies seeking profit over most anything else created the world of Walmart and Amazon which has conditioned people to want things to be cheap. Cort has been called out for stuff before, but they're still the number one manufacturer of guitars in the world. Not sure how it is now.
@Scott__C we've all allowed this to happen, and now shops like Casino who need to serve the needs of all their clients big and small, don't really have a choice for affordable guitars outside of these kind of options. You're spot on that we've created this culture spearheaded by Walmart and Amazon, but even those guys see the demand for change and have tried to involve smaller businesses like handmade goods and local produce respectively. I think shops like Casino would buy more ethically made options if they were available, but their handcuffed by what's offered, and it's their responsibility to care for their customers which they couldn't be doing better.... it's time manufacturers started to care for their customers like Casino in the same way.
@@MayorMcCheese2000 I agree. The issue on Amazon is kind of not knowing who you're buying from and sometimes they're slow shipping, so that creates some frustrations too. If you've basically told customers for over a decade you can get it there in a day, then to wait for almost two weeks makes you think the order got lost somewhere.
@Scott__C the customers shouldn't have this level of responsibility. You're spot on, it's almost impossible to know where you're buying from and that needs to change.
What absolute garbage. Indonesia is no paradise but your figures are just completely wrong.
Yamaha has made fine instruments since I was a Kid and I was born in 1955, many of their Woodwind & Brass instruments are known as some of the Finest, but for some Reason we associate Yamaha more with a Good Motorcycle then a Great Guitar. I love the P90's. My Slash Victoria should arrive today at Casino
Think pianos -- the motorcycles are made by a different company.
Love my RSS02T, has become my #1. BTW, Both the Gibson Tributes and Studios are cheaper than the $3000 standards
Good video great playing
Local currency for local currency the Revstar Standard is the best guitar you can buy. Which is why the Revstar Premium is such a hard sell. The only reason to get a Premium is if you want a Goldtop one.
I'm happy to see Yamaha get some love.
I had the Standard RSS02t which I bought when it was released. I like it so much I bought the entry level Element RSE20 for $500. I liked the $500 Element so much that I sold the $800 Standard and bought a Gator Transit gig bag. I love that Element. It is 7lbs 2 onces, well balanced, and the fretboard was rolled. It makes me smile every time I play it.
Black and White
Night and Day
Professional wins this sibling guitar comparo - hands down
Thanks, Baxter and Jonathan
good to see you back , I had bought one identical from Guitar center used at 450, overall the fit and finish was excellent but it had a few dead spots [frets] that I couldn't get rid of , I had tried myself and took it in for their luthier to fix but they never went away, beside that it was a fantastic guitar
If your luthier couldn’t level your frets, you’d probably better get a new luthier.
@@doug1274 did you catch the part it was a guitar center ....
@@tomeasley3538 lol. I did not catch that. Makes sense now.
I really dig that tailpiece
Everyone who’s reviewed them has had great things to say about them.
I don’t see why more folks aren’t playing them.
I have the RSS20. It’s a great guitar.
If only they would make the p90 version lefty...
@@rhythmguru1I'm considering getting one, left handed here, don't know if I should get the element or the standard. It's a shame that they not make the p90 for us
It’s down to Harley Davison syndrome. Yamaha will sell you five times the guitar for quarter of the price, but it doesn’t say Gibson on the headstock.
Excellent, been eyeballing them both and to judge is tough, I will say through TH-cam and then my iPad to earphones, the shrill vanished on the second guitar. Might be me trying to justify things, but it seemed richer? If that is a trait. Enjoyed it.
I have a Epiphone Masterbilt dr500 from Indonesia. Bone nut, hide glue, solid woods and no scarf joint. It was Pleked as well. It's pretty nice dreadnought guitar with cutaway. The finish isn't a 100% (one tiny run) It's a quality instrument from a Asian country.
I love my revstar standard black! Plays great sounds awesome & a great price $639.99 new! What a steal!!
Thanks for demoing this guitar. Was checking it out.
I think id go for the MIJ.. I dunno why.. Something about MIJ resonates for me.
STUPID QUESTION.... Is Yamaha the guitar company... Also Yamaha the Motorcycle Company etc. etc.?
I'd much rather have the Element model and the spare cash saved to modify it. For what I've got into mine, it's as good or better than those higher priced versions.
Love the Yamahas. Humbucker versions though.
4:41 Gibson USA SG all the way!!!! I love my SG, I have one of the old Gothic ones from 2002. I don't play it as much as I should.
Neither one of them ‼️👍
I'm going for a G&L FULLERTON ASAT CLASSIC 🎸🎶🎵👍
Model numbers sound like……..R-e-s-p-e-c-t….🎵
Across the Universe? Please review a Coruscant made 49 string.
Didn't really hear any difference in sound of the two.
The left-hand close-up camera had a washed-out appearance that I interpret as lack of contrast.
1:25 Baxter, you’re holding the $849 guitar. Purely based off of the finish. Yours looks slightly more even.
soooo much cooler than that crap PRS puts out these days.
6:01 it's kind of like the G&L US vs import price differential thing. How is G&L even still in business?!
I've always wanted to get a white Revstar and be Johnny Ramone in a Ramones tribute band even though I'm more like Joey with my height and hair length and overall weirdness. And yeah, I know Johnny played a Moserite so don't @ me, you accuracy sticklers.
I’d like to see the Revstar compared to the Reverend Sensei. Bodies are nearly exactly the same. Both Korean models made in the same plant too…
Heritage just announced an import line. So that will be interesting too
I have both. In fact, when i got my Reverend, it was between it and the Yamaha. I went with the Reverend. Six months later, I ended up getting a RSS02T, and the Reverend is for sale. The Yamaha fits and plays like a part of your body
Gibson Les Paul Studio are in the same range as the Revstar Japan made.
Is Bax growing out the facial to auditfir a bit part on The Chosen?
lots of folks like the Yamaha es-335 clone.
Why are so many guitarists “mamas’ boys “?😂
Revstars are groovy a.f.
I have a Revstar standard, don’t play it very much.
How come?
@@jasonswitzer1748 not enough time to play. Great guitar, I play it when I can. Sorry I guess I should have said all this in my first comment.
