That's the joy of soaping. The unexpected. It looks so beautiful. Love simplicity. I love that you are changing your soap model to be more thoughtful in your process of creating soap. I enjoy your videos and how you really think about your brand. Keep your focus lady.

I just made a batch at 95%coconut oil/5% castor with 20% super fat for the first time. I have already been making the same recipe but 1% sf for solid dish soap bars. This time not only did I use 20% super fat I used both red clay and activated charcoal, both rehydrated before adding to oil. Along with a orange citrus FO to combat acceleration. Came out fine, definitely a softer loave.
I mixed to light trace and did a in the pot switl with clay, charcoal, natural.

Using canola oil instead of olive oil. Did a small hot process batch and it worked really good.

100% coconut oil (20%sf) are great soaps - but their solubility is crazy high so the bars don't last long. They also get really hot so don't use a fo that heats up! I've had soap loaves that literally split open from the heat! Have you ever tried high oleic safflower or sunflower oil? Often less expensive than olive oil, and the ho safflower seems to add something to the bubbles. (I don't like olive oil in soap except tiny amounts because high olive oil soaps absorb so much water and don't dry well)

    Hey jerrika. Beautiful soaps.
The reason your soap batter thickened up so quickly, it is because of the essential oils. It always happens no matter which type or brand of essential oils you are using, they speed up the trace. So i always add it in after I add in my colour. If and when I am doing more than one colour, I add the EO's one by one until I am finished. And that way works much better for me. It doesn't send me into a panic attack when it starts to thicken up on me.
    Less stress on my part.
Try it next time and let me know if it works for you as well.
I just love making soaps, soap making is such a fun science project. It is very relaxing and calming when I am making soaps.
I get very excited when making soaps, because I can't wait to cut my soaps to see inside the soaps to see all my beautiful designs I created. Because every soap is very different and unique, it just puts a huge smile on my face with each soap I cut.
Have a blessed weekend and your soaping creativity.
    🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Love, love, love the use of soy wax. I’ve been following for years and had no idea you could use wax in your soaps. If anyone discourages it’s because they don’t understand the properties of the items you put in your products. Can’t wait to see the lather test of this soap. Thank you for pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone, it’s not what you had anticipated for a soap but I think it’s stunning and you should keep it! Thank you for all that you do! 💜💜💜

For my soaps I am intentional about making more facial care soaps and products (I am an Esthetician) I am testing to see if coconut oil is giving me bumps that hurt (it could be something else) But I just made a Green Tea (liquid) Turmeric, Olive Oil, Castor and Grapeseed oil and another batch same except with no Shea Butter. Added sugar for bubbles and added salt for hardness! All my soaps are Fragrance free.
My skin LOVES BEER soaps as well! I have to look into using soy wax in my soaps. Thank you!

Love that your using your business down time to get more intentional with your business going forward.
I have used soy wax one time in a shave soap recipe for the high stearic acid percentage. Alas I did not like it at all and yes it is a really fast mover! I've been trying to perfect a shave puck type recipe since I began soaping 3 years ago and still have not got it down yet!
Also I discovered that high oleic sunflower oil has nearly the same fatly acid profile as olive oil. But not regular sunflower oil. High oleic sunflower oil is much cheaper than olive oil going through Soaper's Choice and I've been using it with success.

I've been following you for a while now (before you even thought of selling your first house) and love your channel both for the soap/company advices that you give but also for the vlogs. Now that you are talking about maybe not having vlogs as this channel was mainly for soaps stuffs, I must admit that I was surprised that you kept vlogging here instead of using your other channel since those vlogs are more "Zimmerman's life" related, just like the name of that channel, so maybe you could keep vlogging there and soaping here, if it's not too much work for you? 1st, I just have to get off my chest how TICKED off I am that you're having to wait to get your VISA while millions of people are crossing the US border ILLEGALLY! If you want me to write a letter, I will! I'm sure ALL of your followers would sign a document stating that you provide a legitimate, beneficial business to ALL people! Now that my prissy rant is over, I was wondering why you'd be using soy wax in your beautiful soaps!? In my line of thinking, it just serves no purpose, it's a filler. Everyone is struggling in this dang economy now and I know the price of Olive oil is out the roof but, I reduced my prices on All my products by 25% because I want people to get good quality products at an affordable price. I was just at vendor show and 7 other soapers were there, and we were the ones who sold the most. They had 3 oz soaps at $9.00 This to me is outrageous! I don't make fantastic products just to make a profit, I make them because I believe my products truly are fantastic and I want people to have the best without them having to breaking the bank. To me Etsy is a soul sucker. Get back to your Farmer's Market and Vendor shows. Never lose that personal connection you have with a one-to-one conversation. I know your trying to keep your profit margins by finding a new recipe, but I say don't! Your customers don't want to shower and bathe with a wax soap. They love you because you've won their hearts and trust in your products. Do what you love and do it for the people you love. 💛💛💛
