  • The MSR Xplorer jacket certainly holds a lot of value at an affordable price. However, does it really stack up against Klim? lets find out! I was able to test the Xplorer jacket in all weather and the results might surprise you, I may be the only reviewer on TH-cam that gave it a thumbs down.
And apparently I have a ghost in the house that was throwing things at the end of the vid. Maybe they disagree with my review!!!
Check out my review on the MSR Voyager gear as well

I’m a PNW Rider and wanted my first set of riding gear (early 2024) so I’m certainly no expert. I bought the MSR Explorer but it didn’t fit well, the arms and legs were simply too long. I also felt like the “Tin Man” wearing the MSR gear. Sent it back and purchased the Klim Carlsbad, immediately felt more comfortable in both the pants and jacket. The feel of Gore-Tex is much nicer and not nearly as stiff. Fit is everything! These riding suits are heavy and bulky but if they fit well the weight and bulk seems to disappear once you are actually wearing the gear. If the fit is wrong, wow you feel the weight dragging you down and the bulk is overbearing. I tried to like the MSR gear, especially at that great price but at the end of the day I just didn’t want to ride in it. Yes the Klim is way more expensive but I enjoy wearing it, it’s worth every extra penny.

Completely agree! I'm not sure how people can say they are even close in comparison.

DON'T get me wrong this is a great product and you might love it. However, with my personal discomfort issues I will not be keeping it. Make sure you send this video to anyone with similar thoughts! And don't forget to SUBSCRIBE!!

It doesn't matter how nice something is if it doesn't fit you right.
Also, it's hard to figure out if a jacket fits until you have ridden a lot in it.
I would probably buy this one but I already own a klim traverse.

Overall it was a great jacket, just my weird neck issue that ruined it. But I definitely recommend it to everyone if that doesn't bother you. Thanks for watching!

Great video as always. Love the content. Are you affiliated with Rocky mountain atv/Mc?

No, all reviews are out of pocket so you know they are legitimate and accurate

Did you test the original, or upgraded version just released recently? Also, you are comparing a product that costs less than 1/2 the Klim.

This was the updated version, still was not comfortable for me. And yes that is the point, there are so many videos out there where people are saying the MSR Xplorer gear is better than the Klim. I didn't believe it, so I tested it myself, and of course my results are in the video.

Do you think the jacket will become more comfortable over time with break in?

    • @MotoInTheValley
      @MotoInTheValley  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

That was my thought, and I sure hope it does. However, I can't justify spending over $400 to be uncomfortable and wear it for 6 months to find out. If @Rockymountainatvmc wants to send me a long term trial jacket I will gladly try it and see hahaha.

The Klim is also AA rated. The MSR has no rating.

No CE rating for MSR because as far as I know, they don’t market their gear in EU countries. Klim does, so they had to submit their gear for testing.

Are you planning on testing other brands?

Absolutely, I am currently testing the Sedici Alexi 2 mesh jacket and pants. The set also comes with zip in liners for rain and colder weather and it is very affordable. Thanks for watching!
