    What I've done for a presentation for work that we use with all of our customers is broken the powerpoint into two sections, the main presentation that we show before the live demo, and then a full presentation with screenshots and slides of the program explaining what they all do. The first part we show, but when we save a copy of the presentation to leave-behind as a resource it has the full thing all together.

    Great tips! I need these tips for presentations, but also thinking about TH-cam thumbnails 👀!!

    • @alexanderlyon
      @alexanderlyon  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, very true. The thumbnail is the KEY to our lives nowadays. Gotta get those clicks!

    All great advice for teachers! But, lots of hard work. AND students may complain..... many are not used to taking notes. Still, this is the way to go.

    • @alexanderlyon

      Agreed, Adam. It's true that classroom content that's testable, etc. calls for more detail than business-type presentations. The slides rightly reflect that, but I've simplified my slides a lot over the years.

    Hi Alex, thank you for the insightful video. But how about the ideal number of PowerPoint slides for the academic lectures or thesis defence...? Should it be less as well? How many slides are suitable for a 150 minutes lecture or a dissertation defence? Thanks.

    • @alexanderlyon
      @alexanderlyon  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a good question that I don't have any advice for in terms of dissertation or thesis defenses and number of slides. Each committee and academic department is so unique that the expectations vary from place to place. And each project itself will be unique, have diverse types of data to show, etc. I'd recommend talking to your advisor and getting his/her advice on that.

    I'd add "Don't fall in love with moving parts.," Most freshmen think transitions are so cool! They get in the way of viewers; ability to absorb the message. IMO.
