The GOP has been yearning to rule unilaterally since 1980 or even earlier. They have been systematically tearing apart the federal government and democracy itself in order to seize permanent single-party rule. The entire Party is culpable, not just certain despicable individuals. We have to treat the GOP for what it is: and anti-democratic organization attempting to destroy our system of government and institute authoritarian rule.
It's the same with the Conservatives, here in the UK. They are the most successful political party in the Western world, able to stay in power for extended periods through all sorts of methods as they are representing big business, international and domestic wealth. Even when they're out of power, the policies, laws and systems they have put in place leave the framework by which the liberal Labour party have to operate in. The "new" Labour party of July 2024 headed by Keir Starmer has to appease big business, the wealthy, Brexiters/Eurosceptics alongside Muslims and the Alphabet community. He is compromised in every way.

I read the Limits to Growth (1972, not 1980s), which made the point that resources are finite. It touched on climate change. By pointing out possible future problems, it enabled us to start the transition to better use of our resources. We are on that journey. It's not about Republicans wanting a monarchy, meaning a permanent, life-long 'great leader', possibly replaced by his descendents.

Reagan was the first president to embrace the religious right. He also engaged in union busting, deregulation of safe business practices and loosening environmental protections. He was a likeable man, but he believed in trickle down economics, cutting taxes for elites. When he was running for president against George H W Bush, Bush called Reagan's economic plan 'Voodoo Economics' but embraced it to become Reagan's VP choice. Previous Republican presidents were not like Reagan who sent us into a fiscal tailspin that began the slow loss of the middle class.
I guess you were not working during Carter and Reagan administrations. We middle class suffered under Carter with the gas crisis and high interest rates. Then Reagan policies may have helped the rich but average working people also benefitted from tax cuts and economic growth.@@nisanight2247

Ronald Reagan was not the first conservative president for 50 years. Richard Nixon a conservative Republican was from 1969 to 1974. Ronald Reagan became president in 1980. That is six years. I find it really hard to take someone seriously who begins their diatribe with information that is clearly false. Like it’s common knowledge that it is false. OK, so it’s even worse than that. She said for the last 50 years so 50 years back starting 1980 is 1930. So from 1929 to 1933 Herbert Hoover was president a Republican/conservative. Then we have Eisenhower who is the president from 1950 through 1961. We’ve already discussed Nixon because Nixon was impeached we had Gerald Ford.

I think the current fearless president should hold a live press conference so he can take questions on how project 25 would negatively impact the US. That would get the message out for sure! However we have to ensure that it's not too early and definitely not after 8pm. Curious if he should have his ice cream before or after...
