Two months ago, one of my videos resurfaced and one of those who saw it requested that I make my version of this song. I didn’t know this song that I had to look for a score online but saw one choral arrangement. I also checked TH-cam for recordings and there are several versions and so this is my improvisation on it.
Prayer is a conversation between us and God. When we pray, we usually do the talking and seldom keep silent and listen to God. While learning and playing this song, I felt God’s presence in the words of Jesus and that he was like speaking to me directly. It kept me playing and I just let the lyrics sink in.
As we face this pandemic and the violence and injustices around us, it is so easy to question God’s presence in our lives. May this song remind us that God is ever with us.
The song may be too low for my soprano and tenor friends, but I hope you let the music and words speak to you. God bless you all.
