    The ATCs and pilot handled it very professionally. The passenger may have wanted scotch and he got bourbon, or wanted Pepsi and he got Coke. Pitched his glass of ice cubes at the FA. There should be a substantial fine for this. It cost the airline thousands to divert and it cost all the passengers in time, failed connections, etc. People like this should not be allowed to fly on any commercial airline.

      There needs to be a central no-fly list for passengers with a history of being disruptive/abusive. You shouldn’t be able to get kicked off a Delta flight for being abusive and just walk over to Southwest and buy a ticket from them. Make it a 5 year ban for your first violation and lifetime for the second.

    Back in the day half the passengers were in the bag when they got on the plane, and continued to get really blotto. I once had to sit next to a really loud, obnoxious drunk from SF to Hong Kong. He finally passed out (they kept serving him!) but kept flopping his arm onto me, and I had to touch his stinking arm to put it back. But if you cut out booze at the airports and on the planes, the drunks would find a way to bootleg it anyway.

      @@1008OH Agree on the first part, but I’m not hearing the question as “has any attempt been made to breech the flight deck” but as “is the flight deck secured” _including_ as a precautionary measure to ensure that the flight can continue safely for the remainder of the flight (like locking of the door and understanding if all pilots are inside the cockpit unharmed). So yes, if an actual attempt has been made: level 4, but even if an attempt has been made it would still be relevant to answer if the flight deck is secured, don’t you think? Maybe because it wasn’t a full-out emergency and they needed company logistics?

      It's always preferable to divert to a company hub unless the situation demands the quickest landing possible. It sounds like they had Ice Cube more or less under control and they needed to come down from FL 320, so might as well go to JFK.

    “Disturbance in the cabin…we would like to divert to JFK…we will stay at FL320….we’ll stay on course for now and wait it out”.
    Are you kidding me? Tell her you need to get to JFK now. What kind of operation is this?!

    • @nycres
      @nycres ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I was surprised by that. It's one thing if a passenger's behavior is borderline and you want to give him/her one last chance to shape up before pulling the plug.
      But once they've thrown stuff at the flight attendant? Sorry that's game over

      @@RLTtizME Ignorance is bliss, right? How long have you been at jetBlue? Long enough to get triggered by a strange opinion huh? Notice how you have nothing to say about the content of my comment-just feminine sassiness. Typical.

      A professional operation. It's a question of safety. Jet full of people, busy airspace, no fire, the plane is perfectly fine, so you follow standard procedure for a divert. Even if it were a medical or equipment emergency, they would still have to manage their energy during the descent so they don't come in hot and high and out of control. Shame they had to divert because of a temper tantrum. Higher workload because they didn't get to brief for the approach and had to trust ATC and George, but they winged it just fine. Well done, JBU crew!
