I had no idea MAX removed so much animation. I just finished watching all of Regular Show on it for the first time not too long ago, and my gosh, what a masterpiece of an animated series. To know now that you can’t stream it there is really disheartening (and ironically something Regular Show itself commentated on at the time, streaming vs. physical media. The writing has always been on the wall). It’s to the point where it’s hard for me to even call this corporate greed, because…wouldn’t they be making *more* money by having more animated series that people care about??? So by taking it off, isn’t it actively bad for them, because now there isn’t as big of a draw? What is actually the point in removing such successful and beloved series? It’s just asinine.
That's what confuses me too! They are seemingly leaving money on the table by not allowing some of these shows to streamed anywhere! #standwithanimation
I was surprised to hear this as well I thought HBO would have most of the cartoon network shows. It's like the only thing streaming services appreciate is live actions. It especially sucks if the show does not have physical media.
A lot of shows will become lost media at this rate. It feels like corporations only care about the money. Now we have to sail the Grand Line for these shows 🏴☠️
The crazy thing is it’s deeper than shows being lost media. I mean pretty much all species on earth will go extinct soon, ecosystem collapses, lost life. And it’s by these same corporations
And what I hate is when Netflix removes the first few seasons and only leaves the new ones. Like, dude, I want to see the first episode again😢 Not sure if others streaming services do this as well.
Yeah they do this thing called region locking that affects how many seasons a show has and if it's available in your country. Like currently og naruto on netflix for me is missing a crapton of seasons and it doesn't even have season one it skips to season 4 up 6.
This is why streaming services suck. Idk why they remove animated content from there but it’s really scummy. They could at least release a physical version if they’re not going to keep it on their platform.
What about anime and other animated shows like Family Guy, South Park, American Dad, Futurama, Dethlok, Boondocks, Robot Chicken, Harley Quinn, Kite Man, X-Men 97, Legend of Vox Machina, Castlevania, My Adventures with Superman and Invincible? Those are still on their respective streaming platform.
@@samflood5631anime have a hard time being shown over here and majority of it is on funimation and that not safe anymore. And those show their take only high popularity instantly rather than slowly gaining interest
I can't believe the animation industry has been done dirty recently. I wish that the cancellations never happened in the first place. I was just re-watching OK KO and I was devastated when I saw that it got kicked out of Hulu. I am an aspiring animator and this frightens and concerns me. If I ever were to make a cartoon series, I'd end it's seasons with satisfying conclusions just in case I won't get the resources needed to make more episodes and not end on cliffhangers just like some of the cancelled shows.
This is why you should always buy physical media and push others to own what they buy. Hopefully a push back to physical media will at least make preserving shows better.
This is why not every company needs their own streaming service. They could’ve just made even more money by licensing other movies and shows to only Netflix and hulu
Heck, forget seasons, you would be lucky back in the mid to late 20th century if you got at least 20+ episodes, since most shows would stop around the episode 13 mark or episode 10 mark.
The fate of final space saddens me so much and I’ve never even seen it. Animators need to be honored. They need to make laws against this kind of bullcrap.
4:06 Why did they remove Gumball on Max when they are rebooting the show? It makes no sense. You would think they would treat their headliner show with more respect.
Because they don't want people to watch the original and compare the reboot to it. They already know that if we are able to do so the reboot won't do well.
Olan Roger’s has been burned so badly by the industry I’m shocked he hasn’t gone full villain mode, no one would blame him. But if he can keep going in spite of everything then I guess we can too
This is why I don't pay for streaming as someone who primarily watches animation... Half of these streaming services aren't even available where I live anyway or are just way too expensive.
Your timing is pretty on point, after Netflix just announced they’d be removing Battle Kitty! It’s particularly frustrating because it was an interactive cartoon, so difficult to even rip or pirate! It is one of my comfort faves too 😢
As somebody whose lifelong goal is to create an animated series, this is honestly heart-wrenching to know. We can not let anymore of this happen. #standwithanimation
It is quite sad that animation is treated like trash by many streaming services and networks. I have fond memories of watching animated series as a kid and still do so today. #standwithanimation
It really is disheartening to see the state of animation right now. But Inside Out 2 and other movies like it aren't the only success stories out there. I think the recent rise of indie projects like Hazbin & TADC, shows there's an opportunity to disrupt the status quo. Who knows, it may end up showing that there's more beyond the Big Five, and even changing the animation industry for the better.
They don’t have any of the family friendly fun that past cartoons had but end up being watched by tweens anyways. With the amount of brainrot I’ve seen for both Pomni & Charlie (Verbalase anyone??), I can’t help but to consider it as fandom trash
@@lapielazoolie(This comment will be ignored but I don’t care.) Yeah, those shows feel like they’re being geared more towards Gen Alpha rather than the average viewer. I still can’t believe Disney just Thanos snapped Hailey’s On It! out of existence, and especially without warning. I’ve also noticed a lot of people (mainly on the Disney fandom) blaming Primos (I’ve seen people also blame BCG, but not as much) for HOI’s cancellation.
Actually, several original shows on Disney+ have been removed from the service such as Big Shot, Diary of a Future President, Just Beyond, Turner and Hooch 2021, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, etcetera, etcetera. None of them are available to watch anywhere legally.
Ever since streaming services combined with others (Like Disney +, Hulu, & Discovery), lots of animated shows and movies have disappeared. Some have transferred to other streaming platforms while others just vanished from existence. 😰 Here’s a list of shows I’ll never see again (old & new): *Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart* GONE! *Thundercats (2011)* GONE! *Sym Bionic Titan* GONE! *Son of Zorn* GONE! *Close Enough* GONE! *The Secret Saturdays* GONE! *Nightmare Ned* GONE! *Brandy and Mr. Whiskers* GONE! If you’re lucky, you can find some physical copies of animated shows/movies that were once on streaming platforms. This is one of the reasons why I didn’t get rid of my physical copies. I’m still going to hold onto my physical copies until all media players fade from existence. You can still buy DVD, Blu-ray, 4K players in stores but it won’t be much longer (I say we have about 5 years left). Physical copies of shows, movies, & games are disappearing off shelves, same with all media players. Hold onto your physical copies folks! If streaming services get worse, we may have to revert back to players, DVDs, Blu-ray, etc.
@MytokyokittyStudios I know it won't solve anything but so you can watch at least one of the shows: there are a lot of the episodes of Brandy and Mr.Whiskers on TH-cam. Just search it up and the full episodes should be there as of right now in English. Personally, I have been looking to watch it and Dave the Barbarian for years in Spanish with no luck, all I can hope is that eventually Disney+ gives in and re-adds them in multiple dubs.
Locking Infinity Train in a vault seems to be an act to avoid paying the royalties owed on future screenings. It's actually cheaper for the debt-burdened HBO-Discovery not to show any of these episodes episodes at all. Especially as animation is generally considered kids stuff (which restricts what can be advertised along with it). Even if it's not.
The ironic thing is recently, it was announced that ANOTHER merger had taken place; specifically a merger between DirectTV and Dish. The reason for this was the fact their sales numbers have dwindled due to streaming channels. But with THIS sort of stuff going on...where are people supposed to legally watch their content
Iger has gone too far. Ruining Disney movies is one thing for him, Bob Cheapek, and shareholders, Vanguard and BlackRock, but screwing over Disney channel original cartoon shows made and produced by its tv animation productions???!!!!! What the ever loving hell is wrong/the matter with or has gotten into him (aside from him being money grubbing Marxist woke idiot and all other things that is wrong with him)??!! Has he lost his freaking mind? What was he on? What his aim was? What has he done to the company? What was he thinking? How could he have done such a thing?
I hate it when they keep cutting stuff for no reason at all, it literally does nothing but hinder everything so basically you may as well add it back If you're name is David Zaslav, stop it, you are nothing more than a parasite to Warner Bros and if you're "work" for the company was deleted, it would get a lot better. Zaslav is honestly worse than Neal Mohan
I know I hate it when they get written off. Especially since there is NO downside for the company doing the write off. Honestly makes me wish they were done like with Mortgages but with the IRS. In that... The media written off, gets sold off in an auction to other companies and such. Or allow the original creator to BUY it back.
It really is a business decision. Streaming services have to pay to license their shows, even the shows they own. By removing content, they're cutting costs. Whether it's an actual good business decision, though, seems to be a different story.
That was a really interesting video! In terms of the physical releases, O.K.K.O and Infinity Train did receive a few, but sadly neither one was the full series. Infinity Train Books 1-2 got released back around when they aired I believe and O.K.K.O had a dvd set that had part of season 1. A company in Australia (Madmen Entertainment) used to release a lot of seasons of CN shows on physical media in their entirety (We Bare Bears, S 1-3 of Craig of The Creek, Summer Camp Island Seasons 1-3, and the first season of O.K.K.O), but unfortunately, I don’t think they have the CN license anymore. I had no idea they had removed Gumball and Regular Show from max. Those two especially, with their popularity and mostly consistent reruns on TV lately, baffles me. I really hope more shows get released on dvd or Blu-ray, especially Disney Channel shows, to prevent this from happening!
The reason why Regular Show only released the first 3 seasons physically in North America is bc of amount of licensing music throughout the entire show, so that's why they didn't got the rights to release the other seasons physically.
@@RyanMcKennaGosling I could totally see that making sense! That’s to bad too, because the Australian releases of the rest of the seasons have some really nice cover work and bonus features.
It was too late for Hailey's On It! to become a Disney+ Original and reach worldwide audiences with a high potential to greenlight a second season, but Disney is disobedient and keeps airing on the dying Disney Channel with a very limited audience capacity, lack of marketing, and region lockout on purpose. The series has a lot of potential up to three seasons, and let the creator be able to finale it. Canceling the show and removing it from the streaming service feels disrespected to both fans and the crew of the show. Future serialized shows should be on Disney+ Original right now, and not on Disney Channel anymore. I feel like Disney Channel won’t be the same anymore. Absolute heartbroken now. 💔 Hailey's On It! (June 8, 2023 - May 18, 2024)
Honestly, for me, it's getting to the point where I am thinking about just canceling all of my streaming services (prime Netflix and Disney Plus) and just pirating everything because some great shows were taken off granted I have not watched many of them (I have watched the first 2 seasons of infinity train however) but I have heard they were great and it's so sad to see them go I hope we get justice for all of the shows removed and I hope they lose the copyright for all of them so the people that made them can make a sequel series or something of the sorts elsewhere
Animation doesn't get nearly the amount of respect it deserves. Infinity Train is one of my favorite cartoon shows, and it deserved way better. #standwithanimation
The shutdown of the CN website will never not infuriate me. We lost the Nick website a few years ago! Flash's death, to my knowledge, led to the removal of the remaining fun Mattel websites! (Ex: Monster High, Barbie, Polly Pocket) As well as places like Moshi Monsters! I don't think Disney has anymore games on their websites! And it's sad! :( I wish the higher ups cared more about animation. About their workers. About everything! Great video man.
Also I will forever be angry at the amount of good looking movies that get canned or written off. Especially "Me and my Shadow"! IT LOOKS SO GOOD! BUT WE'LL NEVER GET TO SEE THEM! :(
I just googled and saw that Nick still has a website up. It is barebones though unlike the past. Nicktoons Network even used to have its’ own website that was removed in 2015 and linked to Nick’s main website.
Literally half of my favorite CN/AS shows got purged from the Max. Kids Next Door, Foster's Home, Metalocalypse, China, IL, Flapjack, Clarence, and seasons 1-12 of Squidbillies. None were able to survive the wrath of Devil Zaslav. What's the point of having a Max subscription anymore if all the stuff people actually WANT to watch gets bulldozed to make way for the exact opposite? Tell me there's someone out there that actually wants to WATCH all that gross Discovery slop over Regular Show or Gumball any day.
also: a few of these cartoons have gotten blu-ray releases at stores like walmart. Not that anyone actually was made known about these releases, they’re just.. there?
Why do i feel Hollywood just straight want to bury animation as a whole!? Like isnt strange that the animation industry as a whole is dying while the live action is still going? I dont know my friend but it sounds to me like a conspiracy ir you ask me
Multiple factors and parties might be responsible for all of this madness. First, our conservative right wing mainstream society/sophisticated grown adults, parents and Christians think animation is just a kids thing and adults don’t get to watch that kind of thing. And fundamental Christians / satanic panic conspiracy theorists would truth expose an adult cartoon for corrupting little kids and show inappropriate messages and crap even though those cartoons are for adults only and kids had no business watching them anyways and those religious conservatives are overreacting for no good reason. Plus of course, Reaganomics and federal government have corrupted our favorite entertainment companies and take animation for granted and the status quo of the Hollywood business entertainment industry standards and practices and the mainstream public corporate media shareholder investing & advertising overload trying to bark orders at those companies into caring about live action more than animation because it makes money. Also adult society: all they care about is the superhero cinematic universe movies, horror movies and groundbreaking drama movies and stuff. And conservative anti woke people complaining about stuff that is woke nowadays. These are the reasons I came up with.
I don’t really think its Hollywood considering the number of big name directors and actors in the industry do take part in and support said medium. This seems more like the problem of corporate execs getting involved in an industry that they are not passionate about and prioritizing profit before creativity.
This is 100% speculation, but I wonder if these cartoon removals have something to do with negotiations with the AMPTP an Animation Guild. Like is this some kind of psychological warfare from the studios to psych out animation workers? Cause if it is, it sure as hell ain't working.
Just found out Disneys removing their OG movies like Clouds which was about a now deceased Zachary Sobiec who battled cancer. So sad for his family…….The movie that was about their son has now been considered lost.
they fr removed all the cartoons people would actually come for on max idk why cartoon fan would even buy half these streaming services its not even guaranteed you'll get what you came for anymore
I also remembered back in 2019-2020, in my country, winx club used to be on netflix, i’m talking the original series and i usually watch season 7 of that and then it got removed
YAY NEW VIDEO!!!!!! Thanks for making a video about this!!! Was the removal of all these animated shows really _that_ unannounced? I already knew about the difficulties animation is facing currently, but this felt SO out of nowhere 0_o BUT GREAT VIDEO!!! I really enjoy watching your videos!! :D
Streaming has just become old-school TV. When I was young (a million years ago), I realized that TV networks sucked. Some shows would air for a month and then get yanked with 9 unaired episodes that would never see the light of day; others would air for a year or two, and then vanish into oblivion -- and TV almost never got home media releases until the DVD boom (though some cartoons got 1 or 2 episode VHS releases in the '90s). So I started videotaping every-friggin-thing I watched. The result was a monstrous video collection, but I was able to preserve tons of programs that were once considered lost media (unfortunately, the tapes were ultimately destroyed by a fire). The studios/networks/streamers only care about what they think might be profitable; it's the fans who keep everything else alive.
My sister bought me the Final Space graphic novel for my birthday, I can’t wait for the story to be finished. My heart hurts especially for Olan Rogers and how his passion project has been treated by studios.

Cartoons: We are made by humans with actual storytelling, original ideas, neat designs, and characters actually doing something and are adored by millions or even billions of humans and is most likely going to be watched by our watcher’s children and even their grandchildren! Companies and the algorithm: WHAT, CALL THE CEO IMMEDIATELY! WE’VE GOTTA HIRE THESE PEOPLE, FORGET ABOUT THOSE STUPID ANIMATORS, WHO NEEDS THEM WHEN WE HAVE AI AND BRAINROT MAKERS!
The biggest factor I find why cartoons are canceled is something I have dubbed “The SpongeBob Effect”. In the early 2000’s SpongeBob exploded in popularity and became the benchmark for shows on Nick. If you weren’t as popular, you got your contracted seasons and nothing more. The issue is that Nick only looked at SpongeBob’s popularity after its boom, not the 4-5 seasons leading up to its success. This effect then spread to other networks and became the benchmark for how cartoons should work. Now since streaming became popular, streaming services have a worse benchmark to compare and that’s the “Viral effect”. If the show doesn’t go viral and stay that way, examples include breaking bad, Dexter, etc then they aren’t worth keeping. Not to mention the giant tax breaks companies get for removing the show from the services and the money they save for not renewing streaming licenses

Completely asinine. #standwithanimation

I was surprised to hear this as well I thought HBO would have most of the cartoon network shows. It's like the only thing streaming services appreciate is live actions. It especially sucks if the show does not have physical media.
@@gaming4lunchthat’s not true, since I know that some of the things that Disney+ removed, where live action shows
A lot of shows will become lost media at this rate.

Also, stick with indie animation too.
Tell that to those who think they own steam fanes
This is why not every company needs their own streaming service. They could’ve just made even more money by licensing other movies and shows to only Netflix and hulu
Animation deserves better. I find it awful how most shows nowadays are ending or getting cancelled after only one or a few seasons!
Heck, forget seasons, you would be lucky back in the mid to late 20th century if you got at least 20+ episodes, since most shows would stop around the episode 13 mark or episode 10 mark.
Literally what has changed? Rewatching a lot of shows from when I was a kid it's crazy realizing how short they actually were.
In my opiniob if the storry can be told well in 20 episodes than it shluldn't be 50 but canceling shows without ending the storry is scumy
The fate of final space saddens me so much and I’ve never even seen it. Animators need to be honored. They need to make laws against this kind of bullcrap.
They are, at least, publishing a TPB of the finale, so at least the story will be told- does kinda have a Xenogears feeling though.

Over half of these shows are available on p1rate sites. Except for the last 10 episodes of Symbionic Titan, which are still Lost Media

I think they see it as competition, especially the guilds.

Roger Rabbit was right about there being no justice for toons anymore.

Cartoons: We are made by humans with actual storytelling, original ideas, neat designs, and characters actually doing something and are adored by millions or even billions of humans and is most likely going to be watched by our watcher’s children and even their grandchildren!
Companies and the algorithm: Naw, it’s too childish and gives us no money
AI and brainrot: We are just static images that talk about random stuff and have designs to even actual words and the characters of those words look illegible and literally have no forms of good storytelling or original ideas but just copy and paste & very run-of-the-mill ideas, ideas, and plots, have designs that are either just a chicken nugget with a Roblox face and a very ugly looking head in a toilet, blocky versions to even possibly sexualized versions of popular tend/meme female characters or very buff and questionable versions of popular male trend/meme characters, or just images of AI generated people who just stand there like a statue and talk without doing anything in front of a very still background, and have content that is very questionable for kids that actual child psychologists are warning against our content which can be used by anyone to do things like push agendas, make racist, sexist, or homophobic content, sexualize certain people, or simply fill your child’s brains with nothing but meaningless garbage with no soul, creativity, or any care for entertaining your children in the right way or teaching them good lessons, morals, and ideas.
