Despite stepping back from his official royal role in 2019, Prince Andrew's ability to dominate the headlines throughout 2021 has given our panel on Palace Confidential plenty to talk about all year long.
Following the death of his father in April, the Duke of York crept out of the woodwork to speak to the press on behalf of the family, prompting criticism that he was using Prince Philip's death to step into the role as head of the family. His attempts to rehabilitate his image continued, with his former wife Sarah Ferguson speaking on ITV's Lorraine of him being a ‘thoroughly good man’.
Both in the UK and US, many were less convinced that Andrew should return to public life - an opinion cemented for many when it was revealed that the Prince was due to be sued by Virginia Giuffre, one of the victims of Jeffrey Epstein. Whilst Prince Andrew denied all allegations, our panel agreed that he was left in a sticky situation: go to court and risk more reputational damage, or pay Giuffre off, and leave it to the public to whisper over whether or not he would have been found guilty.
In this special episode, we’ve put together some of the biggest talking points and most jaw-dropping moments from the story of Prince Andrew in 2021.

Andrew has shown his true (unsavory) character his entire life. I don't consider his ex-wife, who has sponged off him and the RF for decades, as an unbiased character witness...especially considering HER sordid past. I'm not privy to the legal technicalities of which country has jurisdiction on the civil vs. criminal cases, but if he has done nothing actionable, he should volunteer to be deposed. The fact, if true, that Andrew is the Q.s favourite, is a bit of a shudder for onlookers, who tend to view that branch of the family as one of the dimmest & least endearing in the greater family.
He doesn't seem too bright, but full of self-regard, when a little self-doubt might have served him better. His nickname is Randy Andy, and nobody is laughing with him anymore. He dabbled in the arms trade, seems very keen on money - when actually he should have had plenty - and seems the most entitled/arrogant and least empathetic - or maybe it's just his face.

Epstein got to me via via Ghislaine Maxwell and tricked me into playing the role of one of his celebrity 'Useful Idiots.'

As an American admirer of the British royal family, I think that Prince Andrew needs to just STAY OUT of the media spotlight! Yes, that would be his BEST COURSE of ACTION because he's been VERY BADLY STIGMATIZED, which brings SHAME on the ENTIRE royal family. Hey, the Windsor Dynasty have the rebel Sussex Squad to worry about. Andrew needs to CONSIDER his elderly mother's feelings. This is Her Majesty's PLATINUM JUBILEEE year, for Christ's Sake! Andrew is just ADDING to the TROUBLES for the British royal family. He needs to just DISAPPEAR from public life-----indefinitely!

On her shoulders rest being responsible for all this. The young girls, almost naked,, one on a party eating prince Andrew, surely very experienced.
Virginia her parents agreed she went to work in this branche, her boyfriend knew about it, they needed the money. It is a branche that excist from the beginning of time. Young girls in this time? They pay their study, have a sugar daddy. It is always money,

Harry is so much worse than Andrew for the Monarchy. Andrew is accused of this from 20 years ago and it is to do with his personal life, while despicable, I think it has less of a direct blow to the Monarchy itself. Harry went right on TV in front of millions and badmouthed the Monarchy and the RF, it was horrendous and treacherous and a disgrace to do to his grandmother. Harry didn't care about his grandmother, it is a institution she has spent her lifes' work supporting, her husband way dying, Harry is only backtracking now because of the public outcry, he's a treacherous disgrace.

Excuse me, but it's not fair to compare a case mismanaged by the royal family to someone who got involved with pedophiles and prostitution. At least Harry doesn't have to worry about avoiding prosecution or the FBI. Harry is not related to criminals or being issued as is the Prince "I don't sweat". You have every right not to sympathize with Harry's attitude, but at least he lives abroad, has lost his Royal Highness treatment and is not dependent on taxpayers' money. However, Andrew continues to lives in royal estate, has no duties, will have all the legal expenses paid by the taxpayers and still have all the royal titles, while his criminal friend is sentenced alone and the other monster is dead.

We don’t know how old the girl said she was or how many other men she was with on the island. She doesn’t sound like a shrinking violet. Eons ago Errol Flynn was accused of a similar accusation.
