Comparing an Epiphone Les Paul to two Gibson Les Paul, Standard and Custom Shop

Hallo! Today Thor of @GUITARSGIZMOS is here to compare his new Epiphone Les Paul 1997 made in Korea with mine LP`s, a 2008 Standard and a 2011 CS 58 Reissue. These three guitars have different specs as well as price, and because of this hard to compare. But what do you think? Which one would you choose and why?

Had he swapped the standard to an aluminum tail piece, brass saddles those burstbuckers would have mellowed out significantly..
It's no secret if you're running burst buckers you have to have brass saddles and an aluminum tail piece..
If you research the lp fourm ect people have found the even super cheap lp's dramatically change after a brass saddle swap and an aluminum tail piece was added, especially epiphone instruments..
Once you swap those parts your sitting in burst territory..
The original burst pickups were treble driven but the brass saddles and aluminum tail piece calm them down and add warmth and sustain and causes a singing effect to the instrument..
All epiphone, cheap imports, and even standard Gibson carry zinc saddles and zinc tail pieces and it causes the guitar to have a cutting sharp attack effect... Now you know..

Excellent tip, I wasn’t aware of that mod. I have burstbuckers in the CS but they are not as trebly as those burstbucker Pro that were in the LP Standard. But now I know 😊. Cheers!

R8 sounds best to me maybe bc of all solid construction.

Hallo there, I think TH-cam’s compression and editing cuts a lot of the differences in the final video. Maybe the solution is shorter videos and highest quality . Thanks for your comment.

Gibson's cost twice what they should and no one should ever buy an Epiphone they are and always have been junk.
