I could never understand why a lot of people crap on Gibson and Epiphone. Usually there are different reasons because of price and it doesn’t have the modern appointments. If you want modern both companies have that for that player. When you talking about a 59’ it’s the inspiration of just that. I think a lot of people have to much time on their hands and want to voice their opinion whether it’s sound or not. I love Gibson because most of my guitar hero’s played them and as a kid we get inspired. What might work for someone might not work for you. It’s simple logic. Less talking and more playing will make you a happier person lol. I like that Epiphone is stepping up their game and I know that still the Kirk 59’ Epiphone is still too expensive for some doesn’t mean that if someone wants to buy one? Let em. Most people don’t even know that before Epiphone was bought out by Gibson they were Guitars that were more expensive than them. They were very high end and designed Jazz boxes for the professional player. With Epiphone today they want to have a line that is higher quality and I think they can achieve that with Gibson backing them up. I also think that in the future there will be more models for their USA line. With dealers that are now able to have 12-18 months payments will get more people to invest in either a Gibson or Epiphone. Why should we crap on a good idea? It makes no sense to me. Get more guitars in people’s hands is a good thing.

Well, I got a new Epiphone 1959 LP Standard outfit in 2023 for 749.00 with free shipping from Sam Ash.. It's got the Burstbucker pickups, CTS pots, Mallory caps, hardshell vintage case, etc. - all the same stuff that the Greeny has. The fretwork, fit, and finish is remarkable. I can not understand paying twice as much for an open book headstock, mismatched knobs, and a "Greeny" name.
Those aren’t custombuckers, Ebony fretboard, long tan, real maple board (Epi es 355) nd just 1299! I would’ve buy even if it was 1700… cz for tht guitar next level up is 7000.
@user-wl1gg4re6s I thought the Greeny was $1499? Other than the Burstbucker vs. Custombucker, I don't see the extra $750. I have Strats with bolt on necks (they sound just fine), so the long vs. standard tenon joint doesn't matter to me. I got one used for $799 without the case. It’s damn great at that price point. I’ll get a case later. I bought it to play it. I feel bad for whoever sold it to GC cause that means they got around $480 for it.
I agree with you 100% I love the direction Epiphone is going…I don’t mind the price and I bought this exact guitar but had the tuners replaced with Gibson Kluson style tuners…I love a more vintage vibe. It plays so nice and I’m loving it. I’m a Epiphone and Gibson fan but again I’m loving how Epiphone is giving some of us what we want, at a price that is reasonable with Gibson vibes. The new custom Adam Jones 1979 Epiphone with the Gibson head stock is so awesome as well. Keep rocking 🤘🏼
This guitar does have a thick maple top, and a maple flame veneer on top of that. When I remove my pick ups from the guitar, you can see the slab of maple on top of the mahogany. It is also listed in the description on Sweetwater: “”sporting a mahogany body, pickguard-free maple top, and AAA flame maple veneer”” so basically it’s a three-piece body from front to back.
Thanks a lot for your video. You hit the point with your statement starting at 6:00 Minutes! People want more quality for the same low prices - that couldn´t work! And if they really think it over they must realize this. But don´t want to hear it! The Problem with Epiphone is today that for the most people its the same budget-brand from 10 years ago! And that´s not true today! Greetings from Germany!
When the Adam Jones (art model) was first released, I hesitated due to the price of $1299. But, as I'm a big Jones fan, I ordered one anyway. When I got it in my hands, setup and plugged in, it all became obvious WHY this guitar costs what it does. I just bought the new Epiphone '59, which is another great offering, and the new Adam Jones is next on my list. Epiphone is doing a fantastic job with these new models. I still own several Gibsons, and I enjoy them. But now, the new Epi's just make more sense for me.
For me, the new 1979 Epiphone Adam Jones model with the open book headstock is going to be a must buy from me in the future. Although, I have been hearing that a Black Beauty model may be coming 👀 Those who say "That's far too expensive for an Epiphone!", let me put it this way. The Matt Heafy models cost being $1099 and $1199. Which in my opinion is one of the best spec'd Epiphones out there and most seem that price point is fair. For $400 more you're getting the real mother of pearl inlays, long neck tenon, stinger, open book headstock, the Custombucker in the neck, etc. That to me is well worth the $1499 price tag. I'm not concerned with my guitar being made in the USA. Epiphone a lot of the time has had better quality control than many Gibsons I've picked up. This guitar is also VERY similar to my 2012 Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom I had in Wine Red. A guitar I still regret having sold to this day.
I own one and it s a badass les paul. I also had a bunch of Gibson custom shop and standard of the 90 s or several classic ...so i i know what i m talking about...well built, us custom buckers "greeny" pickups...this model isn t a cheap signature lp.. try one .
I would put it like this. The japan factories got a hold of og original gibsons and fenders and meticulously did their best to copy these gibson. What i feel gibson did was take that same idea and the inspired by gibsons were done from scans of the 60s guitars and changed the angles and frets and glues and paint. Basically let epiphone copy great vintage guitars. So maybe think of these style of epiphones as one of the more accurate clones. Just wish epiphone would use better bridges without the lousy wire retainer bridges and large post with sloppy threads. Hence drilled into the wood like the gibsons. Gibson offers nitro. Better frets. Hardware to last and not rust. Hold potentiometers. And pleced guitar. And other high quality offerings. I like were theyre taking epiphone.
I played it at the Garage in early December, if it wasn’t Xmas time and that I didn’t already turned the magnet around in my neck pup on my R8 I would have took it home!
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!! 'bout time someone explained to all the guitar hobbyist "business geniuses" how things work. I have one on order and already have the Epi 59 LP and Epi 59 355. Both were $1300. Both were the BEST MONEY I ever spent on a guitar. I absolutely love them. Just amazed how guitar people freak out over a few hundred bucks. maybe you should try getting a better job instead of worrying how much a mid level guitar cost. Good grief!
The Epiphone one is awesome! I love Family Dollar store versions of guitars that aren't even the same shade of finish. This is yellow, it isn't even honey.
This guitar is basically a copy of the first early lemon drop pgm models released by Vintage... The finish is the same on the body top...The Vintage has the luxury of a rosewood fretboard where as the Epiphone has the set back of having an Indian Laurel one.
This price point for this specific type of guitar; the recreated artist models, are mostly justified. I just grabbed the adam jones 79 silverburst from epiphone. Its a solid guitar. But I'll say this, its only worth that price because its an artist model. No where else are you coming close to a 79 silverburst in real life for anywhere near this price. So, i think its justified. A normal Epiphone les paul custom with similar treatment and price? Nah, not worth it. But these artist models get you something just a little special for the money, and theh deliver.
I did not know all of this about the Greeny it now give me more to argue with about those complaining about the price. I commented breaking down a guys video called Do Not Buy Greeny where I didn’t watch the whole video because he was only complaining about the price and didn’t even have the Greeny to review. His argument was you can buy a 59 reissue Epiphone Lemon burst and mod it. Well to mod the guitar with Greeny Buckers and Grover tuners would cost $1,400 or a bit more not including labor to swap out pickups and the tuners so the argument is dead in the water that this guitar is too expensive. Like you said we have all been wishing for better quality from Epiphone well better quality comes with a cost. I am also a believer in if you don’t have something constructive to say then don’t say anything at all! If you don’t like this guitar fine no one is forcing you to buy it there are cheaper Epiphone’s so you can buy that but let those of us who appreciate what Gibson are doing for the guitar community have our right to buy this instrument without having to hear you spout nonsense and make yourself look like the ass you are while doing so.
I’m a bit stuck. I want a Les Paul again. I’ve owned a Gibson 2015 studio (horrible guitar), I’ve owned a 2006 60’s standard (I like a chunkier neck), and I just got rid of a 594 S2 (fun guitar, not what I want from a LP though) I’ve played 2 59 epiphones in guitar center. One was killer, the other one tore up my fingers (probably just in dire need of a set up). But I’m liquidating some gear and I’m stuck on spending a little more for an older LP traditional or maybe one of these 59s. This one has caught my eye because of the unique sound. Idk man lol, what would you do in my shoes?
Hey John, this is the best kind of pickle to be in because it means you get to go guitar shopping. Selling your 2015 LP was a good move, that was the end of the Henry-era and those guitars were hard to tame and even harder to love. I can’t speak to the 549 S2, because I’ve never played one and rarely get my hands on PRS. If you like the Standards and a chunkier neck, you don’t want a 60’s, you want a 50’s. A ‘59 is a transition-period neck, so it’s not too big or too small. This (Greeny) is an awesome guitar and if you’re looking for something a little odd, look no further. However, if this is your main player, I’d suggest checking out the new Epiphone Inspired by Gibson/Gibson Custom line. What’s your budget?
What I find funny is. I had a guitar in the 70's that had a mini toggle switch to put the pickups in phase or out of phase and when I put it in out of phase. Everyone said turn that off! Now it's a thing?!?!??!?
Those people who told you to turn it off? Were any of them Led Zeppelin fans?? Pagey tweaked his Black Beauty and his first LP Standard to get out of phase and series pick up combinations. We just never knew this sort of stuff was possible. Page was a wizard!!
All I really have to say about this guitar is I've played a bunch of USA Gibson Les Pauls, and one Epiphone Greeny, and at least that individual unit was fantastic. Legitimately better fit and finish and feel than any USA Gibson I've played. I've read Epiphone's consistency isn't great, and the last one I played, Jared James Nichols Blues Power, was awful. Great sound but the fit and finish was all over the place. Dodgy fretwork, *sharp* inlays that cut into your fingers, and uneven finishing. Absolutely not worth the price, but then that might have just been that one example, same with there's no guarantee every Epi Greeny is as good as the one I played (that my stepfather has bought). Now that the price has dropped I'd actually say based on my experience I'd call the Epi Greeny worth it. Though I wouldn't personally pay the RRP. Also if you want a taste get a Vintage V100 Lemon Drop, that's the Greeny alike they've been making for decades. A third the price, sounds great, and Greent vibes for days, especially the distressed version.
Is it a veneer over a regular maple cap or maple veneer over mahogany. To me that would make a difference. A PRS SE , for example, has a veneer but its over a maple cap. The wood structure is still the same as its more expensive counterparts, but still at the lower price point.
I think you are missing a point here. I have higher end Epi LPs (1959 Outfit, and 50s Standard) and for a 650 euro and 300 euro used mint they were great guitars for the price. We are talking here 1749 euro for poly Epiphone. I bought in last 2 years 2 Gibson Les Paul Tributes (for together 1330 euro or so) and I would take any of them any day. Greeny and new Firebirds are joke. You can buy Gibson Les Paul Standard for 2k, switch pickups to Greenybuckers for 150 eur (difference after selling originals) and you will be much better off with guitar that will weight less, resonate more and certainly age much better.
sorry but it will never be worth $1500. you could buy the lemon 59 from G.C. for $750 and reverse the magnet yourself. or buy the Greeny buckers for$300
I swearrr I hear you. Sincerely, I get it. I grew up in the era of awful Epi. So to see this whole new line of quality and build is hard to understand until you play it. Once you play it, the name on the headstock won't matter anymore.
@@Gibsunday so cheap needs to ne bad? They were advertised as great guitars back then. No need for price increase. Just make it good and leave the price.

Funny, because a few years back, I tried a €900 PRS that played and felt exactly the same as my €300 Epiphone. I suppose the perceived quality of the brand depends on the specific moment in time when you compare them.
maybe you have a dealer nearby? I was a skeptic as well until I played several of them. Heck, shoot them an email, maybe they will send you one for review? doesnt hurt to ask. @@Gibsunday
You know so little about guitar building, les paul specs and so many more, please if this an sponsored account be honest or at least try to get a true experts opinion and to avoid misleading unknowing people about what goes into making a guitar and the price of what they are paying
Because of the Reverse Polarity middle-switch, I would suggest this to someone that's looking for something different/unique--no matter the size of their collection.
How can you justify a veneer for 1500? It was made in a place where workers aren’t paid as much as the American counterpart, not to mention the materials are cheaper. For 1500 made in China, I better be getting something like a Murphy lab cause of the exponential bang for buck I can get out of my labor at that price point. A veneer? C’mon man 😪🤮

If people would look back at their receipts and added upgrades they have been doing with upgrading epiphones it gets close to 1k
But with worse quality builds. The new stuff is just so much better. So better builds AND upgraded components?! That’s a win.
Should of had a rosewood fret board for the price it's $2049 cad before tax the prs se john mayer has rosewood at half the price.
Is it a veneer over a regular maple cap or maple veneer over mahogany. To me that would make a difference. A PRS SE , for example, has a veneer but its over a maple cap. The wood structure is still the same as its more expensive counterparts, but still at the lower price point.
It's a veneer over a full Maple cap
Hi, how can I get in touch with you?
I think you are missing a point here. I have higher end Epi LPs (1959 Outfit, and 50s Standard) and for a 650 euro and 300 euro used mint they were great guitars for the price. We are talking here 1749 euro for poly Epiphone. I bought in last 2 years 2 Gibson Les Paul Tributes (for together 1330 euro or so) and I would take any of them any day. Greeny and new Firebirds are joke.
You can buy Gibson Les Paul Standard for 2k, switch pickups to Greenybuckers for 150 eur (difference after selling originals) and you will be much better off with guitar that will weight less, resonate more and certainly age much better.
sorry but it will never be worth $1500. you could buy the lemon 59 from G.C. for $750 and reverse the magnet yourself. or buy the Greeny buckers for$300
Sorry but no, it is 900$ guitar. It is epiphone bro.
Just make it good and leave the price.
tried it past weekend alongside a les paul studio gibson and the same amount of money i take the studio eyes closed. left some stains on the other boot tho sir

@@Redrum046has ANYTHING in your world stayed the ”same price” from 10 years ago? Ummm… NOPE!
The only thing that turns me off about this guitar is the Laurel fingerboard, some can look convincing but most of them are hideous in my opinion.
Is it aesthetics or the feel that turn you off?
@@Gibsunday I can only speak for the aesthetics, I don’t believe I’ve ever played a guitar with a laurel board before.
@@Mcfly0856🙄
I just got myself a Greeny for 923 USD :-)
If you have the chops to play Greenie as PG did, $1,500 is not a big deal.
If you want something to play around with, this might be a bit much ...
Epi sucks! I be tried some
Les Paul epi and compared to a prs se. The difference is night and day. Prs se quality is on another level and is also cheaper
How long ago did you try them last?
Funny, because a few years back, I tried a €900 PRS that played and felt exactly the same as my €300 Epiphone. I suppose the perceived quality of the brand depends on the specific moment in time when you compare them.
Ya well if you don’t want a Prs and want a gibson Les Paul and not spend $3000 this is the way to go Quality is there
Nah , I’ll take the USA every day , it’s got resale value
Yea, I feel that. I don't like to buy guitars with the intention of selling them, but their value is in the back of my mind.
Me too. It's called "greed".
Why? It's another word that begins G-R-E-E, only it ends in D.
just get an eastman 59/v
The Eastman 59v that’s $3,000?
2300 but you can get them for 2100
@@Gibsunday
and plays better than a few CS GIbsons I have tried.
@@brianshoaf9026rad! But now I need you to make a video convincing me why I should spend another $800.
maybe you have a dealer nearby? I was a skeptic as well until I played several of them. Heck, shoot them an email, maybe they will send you one for review?
doesnt hurt to ask. @@Gibsunday
You know so little about guitar building, les paul specs and so many more, please if this an sponsored account be honest or at least try to get a true experts opinion and to avoid misleading unknowing people about what goes into making a guitar and the price of what they are paying
Thats too much money...then turn the magnet around in your front pickup and save yourself the money. It isnt meant for you...
It doesn’t have a bolt on neck?
😂
That’s why it’s so expensive ?
😅😂
Buy the Wilkinson version
Because Gibson likes money?
Man grow up! $1500?? Not fot me.
Who's it for?
Because of the Reverse Polarity middle-switch, I would suggest this to someone that's looking for something different/unique--no matter the size of their collection.
Honestly you want a cheaper guitar go buy something else. Time marches on.
Hahahaha, 100%
How can you justify a veneer for 1500? It was made in a place where workers aren’t paid as much as the American counterpart, not to mention the materials are cheaper. For 1500 made in China, I better be getting something like a Murphy lab cause of the exponential bang for buck I can get out of my labor at that price point. A veneer? C’mon man 😪🤮
Greed.....
I'd rather have a real Chibson.
... go work for gibson
Okay
I refuse to be nice to you
No one is nicer to me off camera than you.
