    serious question, if physical size is an issue, why not make SDDs bigger? like 5.25"? would there be any drawback in terms of speed or reliability?

    • @abbesatty9498
      @abbesatty9498 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I know old comment but, Probably the drawback is in electric consumption, besides it will be hard to fit 5.25 form into mobile devices such as laptops and tablets or even desktop systems as some of these SSDs are plugged in PCIe and M.2 slots

    • @andrewyork3869

    And that's why I moved to a safety razor.

      ***** whats a safety razor?

    • @Nore_258
      @Nore_258 9 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      MoDRun A safety razor is the predecessor to modern cartridge razors. Instead of having 3, 4, or 5 blades it utilizes a single very sharp single blade for no tugging.
      Not only are the blades a tenth of the cost, the razor will out last your life span with ease.

    so what current products use 3D nand flash that I can purchase right now for example? I know the 2.5" Samsung 850 Pro uses it but what about the M.2 NVMe 850 Evo or Pro or 860 Evo or Pro (I'm only referring to M.2 NVMe). My 850 Pro says MLC but what about 3D nand?

    • @skirata3144
      @skirata3144 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2,5" 850 pro uses 3D mlc(2 bits per cell) nand. The 2,5" 850 evo uses 3D tlc(3 bits per cell) nand. The 960 pro uses 3D mlc(2 bits per cell) nand. The 960 evo uses 3D tlc (3 bits per cell) nand. mlc is theoretically better than tlc, but in reality it's more expensive and you probably won't see a big difference. All data is for the ~500gb versions.

    Hey Linus, I got a chinese knockoff of an 128Gb micro SD card, and it was actually 8Gb, however, the storage capacity does show 128Gb, how do they achieve this?

      Armax Firmware shenanigans, or they actually fool the registry to register as 128GB.

      You can't store the data though.
      It tells you it's writing, but it's actually not writing anything, or rather writing all your information nowhere.
      Kinda deep.
