You have a real gift for explaining music to lay people. Not all accomplished musicians can actually explain well. Also, a lot of effort has gone in post-production editing to clarify points, I like the fact that you look into Carnatic and compare with Hindustani. Keep at it.
Thank you Anuja, absolutely wonderful, I just sat and watched all your videos in one go. Keep it up along with your infectious smile and look forward to many more.
Thank you. Since I've been listening to your videos, my appreciation for Indian classical music has grown. My Sarasvati bless you in your creative journey.
wow... the amount of hard work you put in making all the videos in English and hindi is just amazing.... u don't just dub but make 2 separate videos that too with simple and understandable info.... keep it up!!
Anuja ji, you must have seen yourself how many music lovers have recognised and aprreciated your efforts in bringing technical knowledge to the minds of music lovers. It is a great great service you are doing to the Indian classical music and may god bless you with a long life and keep you always healthy and happy. I have a small request. You have explained in your videos the conept of taal. I have seen people ( both musicians and audience) with knowledge of taal keep the timing with the help of their palms and fingers. There seems to be a specific pattern to keeping taal with the hands. Could you please explain these patterns to the viewers? Thanks
With each episode, you provide so much to think about that sometimes I forget to do the thumbs up thing ! I have so far watched 17 episodes, some of them twice, some even more. Believe it or not, I do take notes! I have learnt so much, I never thought I ever would. I do sing - by the ear, mostly.. With all these episodes, I might someday, be able to answer the "WHAT, WHY, and HOW" questions about Hindustani classical music. THANKS !!
Madam ANUJA ji, When your Viewer or Audience like me say that ," You are the Goddess of Music..." he / she has felt that there's Divine Appeal in your presentation. 26. Development of Idea and Logic is in chronological order . 27. Time-span chosen for the teaching- dialogue is just Adequate.... neither more or less. 28. This maintains the interest of your Students of All Ages & Gender. This is one of my Achievements 😊. 29. Also, your Illustration, Examples and History and Historical Background makes the presentation knowgeble and memorable. 30. So, MADAM ANUJA ji, in your Dynamic Personality and Versatile Voice, there is Divine Intervention. Congrats and BEST of LUCK to You 💐.
Watched all 17 + 1 episodes this weekend by spending 6 hrs...I had to repeat few so as to follow..Overall...I find it a reasonable base to start classical music appreciation....I had a feeling that few episodes contained overlapping info in different contexts though. ...and would have loved to hear about the examples with demonstration for some basic raag structures...Neverthless, salutes and thanks for the effort taken...Look forward to more videos. It motivated enough to pursue the quest for knowledge about indian classical music
I am in search for the concept of sounds in machines to diagnose the health of the machinery by ear. Your presentations from episode one have been very valuable to me in understanding music in general, myself being a novice. Thank you and I am looking forward to the future episodes.
My congratulations for your passion for indian classical music!! You are doing a great service to preserve our culyure and traditions!!! which books do you recommand for different Raag and Thaats?
Beautifully presented, Anuja-ji. Among the Hindustani forms, shouldn't a tarana be included? My understanding is that the tarana is the equivalent of the Karnatic music form "thillana". Would be great to have your perspective.
again tq so much...all the episodes hv helped me a lot..one request could u ples explain the concept of raga more in ur up coming episodes... though I know few bt want to learn more...n peace be with you...
julien vandal And where did Pakistan come from? It was originally a part of India !! Ghazals were created , developed and sung long before Pakistan came into existence.
Attend to a guru or Before learning to Classical Hindustani or Karnatic Music It is very important that one should watch clearly all the episodes from this "Basic Theory of Indian Music" by Anuja Kamath. In my opinion,,,..Thanks ,, Much PEacE and LoVe,,💓❤🙏
A kriti, one part of a concert or kacheri, starts with pallavi (a kriti has an intro-1, intro-2, a few verses, and a conclusion, which many times includes the 'signature' of the composer). But the whole kacheri starts with a varnam (which functions as a warm-up), a few kritis, and tgen several minor pieces, snd voncludes with a tillana.
Yes. a krithi generally has three parts: pallavi, anupallavi and charanam. some krithis will also have a chitteswaram. some krithis will only have a pallavi and what is called a samashthi charanam
I love how you are always happy while teaching us. Specially when you say "Peace be with you." , Thank you for your efforts.
