Soam is in a class of its own where lactovegetarian Gujarati cuisine is concerned. Its sister restaurant Swati is a little away at Nana Chowk near Grant Road.

the gujju place was the best. You are right start looking inwards. India has the best in most things, AND nothing tops its varied cuisines. Why eat nonveg at all? All veg dishes in India are so delectable !!!!

Indian food it's very healthy , and so many variety dish, the only thing I'm not ok with it , is the way they eat with hands not using the spoons , forks, napkins , they lick fingers, it's kind of disgusting thing, other then that, everything it's ok!
If you've got access to internet then best is to search on it as to why Indian people eat their food with hands.
I can give a brief introduction:
1. It helps as to how hot the food is.
2. The senses involved in it due to fingers being used.
And many other things.
By the way, how do you eat your burger, pizza, french fries, burritos, tacos & other similar foods?

Sardar is overrated, The Bhaji is pathetic only thing they do is load their bhaji with lots of Butter thats it rest everuthing is below average, There is a restaurant in my area in Kalina called Nityanand and they serve better tasting Pav Bhaji than many of the famour Pav Bhaji outlets in Mumbai and I have been to most all of them.

touchmypeanuts I couldn't agree more, sardar pavbhaaji is overrated, it tastes like homemade pavbhaaji with loads of butter nothing special.
