I live in the Uk and I just pass my driving test for the first time a few weeks ago. I must say it was very expensive because the drive price has increased. I did automatic which was 37£ per hour and I did more than 45 hours 😅🥵 . My dear, you are right is very expensive. I stop even counting my hours but the freedom is sweet 😍Good luck everyone!! and please when you are new in Uk just do it.

Back in 2015-2016 when I took my first driving lessons it was £27 per hour and my driving instructor is very good that he locked the rates from when you started so it stayed at £27 per hour. I had a refresher lesson with him last week after not driving at all for three years and it was still this price but I am not sure if this will be the case every time as there are a lot of people needing lessons and big delays with driving tests etc. The rate for new driving pupils is £38 per hour but can get a few pounds per hour discount if you order multiple hours credit in advance
I learnt to drive in Greece EU got a Greek Eu license and exchanged that to a Uk one. I Spent 350€ to get the license (theory, practical and lessons) and £43 to exchange it to Uk one. 350€ is about £308 so in total I spent £351
You can apply for your provisional license immediately you arrive as long as you have BRP. You can also drive with your Naija driving license, no need getting international driving licence

You can't apply for provisional license till you have stayed in the UK for 6 month. But you can drive with your Nigerian international license for 1 year from the day you arrive in the UK (some have argued that you can also use your valid Nigerian license, well for me I advice ppl to get the international so as to be on a safer side). So the best bet for someone who drives in Nigeria before, once you arrive you can take few classes so as to adapt to their way of driving here (e.g giving way to vehicle on the right in a roundabout) then also read the highway code. Then start driving with your international license (Note some insurance company only work with UK full or provisional license but some work with international license), apply for provisional license as soon as you clock 6 month, book and prepare for theory test once you get the provisional license, once you pass, apply and prepare for practical test. All this will ensure that by the time your one year in the UK complete you already have a UK license to be able to drive alone legally.
Lol........i am not talking hearsay, I am saying what I did and what lots of my colleagues did, I got my provisional license within 10 weeks of arrival, same with lots of colleagues, I drove with Nigerian license too, and this happened late last year and this year........so.......
I just feel people should have the length and breath of all information in thus country. Why wait for 6 months when lots of people are applying for provisional licence daily and getting it despite not having stayed 180 days? I'm yet to see anyone who was denied license recently based on the 6 month rule, I'm talking about from middle of last year till date daily, pls i advice that anyone who wants to drive should start the process early as getting a practical test date is a herculean task.......all I've said is my personal experience, I applied for provisional license within 10 weeks of arrival, started driving with Naija license, passed theory, got practical date and recently passed practical...... all under one year of arrival......this may not have been achievable if I listened to the six month rule......so guys pls be informed
@@datnaijagirl Yes, you can drive with your national drivers license, it must not be the international one. I know people doing that and you can also reconfirm that from gov.uk

No dear. You can apply for your provisional license immediately you get to the UK and even write your theory test asap. However, before you can do your practical driving test, you need to have stayed in the UK for at least 185 days

Ok, so there’s outright payment and monthly re-payment. I haven’t seen yearly. Monthly repayment means you’ll be paying some amount every month

No, If you learned with a manual, your practical test would be in a manual car. Most likely will use your instructor's car, if you want to use your own car, it must be insured for your safety and that of the examiner. After you pass, you can drive an automatic car if you prefer whereas if you learned to drive in an automatic car, your practical test will be automatic and you can only drive an automatic if you pass. with a manual pass, you can drive both.
