Love this!!! Catching up on all my finer things on a Sunday morning! Just perfect! I actually have been thinking a lot about dupe culture and how it just encourages you to spend MORE money on the thing that you don’t really want! For example I grew out of my favourite Levi’s and instead of wanting to spend 115 on a new pair I went out and bought probably four pairs of cheaper jeans that weren’t as nice, didn’t fit as well, and weren’t what I wanted!!! And I spent more money! Being intentional and realistic is best!!
Dupe culture might be a great topic for a future video! It's so true, I was searching for a good concealer for a quite a few years and kept buying cheaper ones with bad formulas when what I really wanted all along was the Glossier stretch concealer, but I just couldn't bring myself to shell out a bit more for what I wanted. In the meantime, I just kept buying crappy concealers and never finishing them. When I finally did get the Glossier one, it was exactly what I was looking for and lo and behold it actually lasted me longer. I still haven't finished it and I will re-purchase when I do. So I ended up spending less and wasting less in the long run! It's nuts that I couldn't wrap my head around that sooner lol. Anyway, thank you for the inspiration ❤️
Ive implemented a 1 in 1 out policy. Oh my god. My life is so much simpler. I still want to try new hair care but it doesnt matter. I still have 3 shampoos to get through!!
i’ve been doing this too and i noticed it also helps a lot with making the actual decision of what to get and stops ‘impulse buying’. if i see something i want, i have to wait to buy it bc i have to finish what i have first so if i keep thinking about something i know i really want it and it feels so much better when i finish something and can actually get the thing (hope this makes sense lol)
@@gaj30 Absolutely! Introducing a bit of friction or challenge between the initial desire for the product and the actual purchase of it helps slow everything down and makes it that much more rewarding if and when you do finally get it. It’s become way too easy to buy stuff now and it’s basically like fast food for beauty lol
NO-vember, I like that. I used to buy an obscene amount of makeup, skincare, haircare, bodycare, etc but what stopped me was realizing that I _always_ went back to the same products and the new stuff ended up sitting in my closet till it expired. I absolutely hate waste, and clearly I know what I like so why do I keep blowing all this money on new products? I haven't calculated how much I've spent on products I only used a couple of times, I'm not quite ready to hurt myself like that yet lol but I've banned myself from all beauty buying outside of replacing empties. I also found a way to make beauty minimalism fun. Out of my 50ish lipsticks I only ever use one(L'oreal Mica, perfect MLBB with a bit of zhuzh), so I transferred it into an antique lipstick tube from the 1920s. I also have a vintage Stratton compact for my powder, and a vintage Elgin compact that almost perfectly fits the 3 eyeshadows that I actually use on a regular basis. It literally stops me from buying new makeup because the compacts and tube are so gorgeous that I refuse to buy any makeup that won't fit into them which disqualifies a lot of products, and I already recycled the plastic packaging for what's already in them so I _have_ to just use it all up before I can buy anything new. Oh well! 🤷♀
Thank you for sharing, I love hearing other people's experiences with this! That is such an awesome idea to put your own makeup favs in vintage packaging. Vintage packaging really is so beautiful. I'm going to keep that in mind if I ever come across some. Something I've been doing to keep things fun is rotating my lipsticks like I rotate my wardrobe. I put away the brighter colours in the fall and bring out the darker tones, and vice versa. This is the first year doing it and I love it. It keeps things tidy and makes me excited to switch them out so I don't feel the urge to go buy new ones when I have perfectly good ones waiting for me.
Hell Yeah! I've heard the term "project pan" for using beauty products up. There are a lot of cool "project pan" challenges and inspo out there. Thank you for making this video.
@@rabbitngoose I’d never heard the term “project pan” until now, I love it! I have quite a few makeup products hitting the pan right now. I was going to show some of that in this video too but stuck to the skincare instead. Might make for a great future video though! Thank you for the inspiration ☺️
I kinda wish others have the realisation that what they can buy is a mismatch to how much they use and there needs to be an honest answer that reflects the current you instead of the you that feels perfect.
That is so true, a lot of this stems from a fantasy idea of ourselves and our "ideal" life instead of being OK with our reality and what's really attainable and sustainable.
Why can’t you use them? Because of they’re too goopy you can always get polish thinner to make them useable again. If you just don’t like the color or whatever you can use them as paint to make art, paint pretty rocks for your garden, paint a plain cup, whatever.
The satisfaction of finishing up a product. Feels like such an accomplishment 😂
It really does! I'll take any win these days, big or small 😆
so true, i love using a product until its completely finished. it gives me the feeling of getting my money's worth
It really does! There's a nice satisfaction to getting rid of that empty bottle.

Great video so far. Hope more people find this helpful.
Thank you! I hope so too 😊
Guys, help, how to use up nail polishes that I can't use ?
