Thanks so much for sharing this detailed demo. Feel much better now about my purchase. Ordered 2 yesterday here in the Philippines. They only put same previewpics in ads here for every model. And buyers ratings on the trading platform almost app just rating it without install. Some did install and had crappy quality, but I guess it depends on the wifi connection too. Many here only have 25 or 50mbps plus large fam sharing the same connection. Looking forward to receive my 2 cams next week. They will be 5 and 7 meters from modem with walls with windows and a door, so I guess it will be fine. The crappy one from 12 bucks to screw in lightbulb didnt connect so well and died after 2 months. These are also only 2k pesos, around 37 to 40 dollar here per piece. But it serves the purpose I am looking for.
@@JCFE 2 of the c320. They do work well and already served their purpose 2 times with trespassers. Also the UI of the app is very nice. The only misleading part of the sales is the zoom function. You can zoom in, but its mot clear. For footage up to 8 meter is nice and clear for full facial recognition and license plates at daytime. At night the carlights cover the plates. But outside the 8 to 10 meter range you can see the shape of a human and if you know the person you recognize, specially when they already passed the cam closeby. The only issue I have, is that the cams get pretty warm, already made a cover above 1 of them to prevent direct sunlight and tge heavy rains we have here in the Philippines. Sometikes I give them a rest, switch one off for few hours and then the other one, to give them a rest. But if I dont use the leds in the cam, they also get less warm. Overall very happy with these cams for less than 40 bucks each. I did had to make a larger hole in the wall to put the ethernet cable and plug inside for cleaner install. Didnt want to cut it off that time in case I needed to use it. But the connection is strong. The one at the gate, like 12 meters away from my modem inside, no problems using the wifi. Now the cams are visible, people think twice before they provoke my pets, like hitting woth stick trough the gate, urinating against the perimeterwall, staring into the house etc. Live in a dead end streeth, but has a locked gate at my neighbours. Some climb over the wall or even break the padlock. Catched 2 of them. Made them pay for the damage and reported 1 for trespassing, but he got away with a warning.
I bought one c320ws model to test it out for monitoring private house, and the surrounding property. I also bought different brands at the same price bracket, (for features comparison). I use 32GB cards, good enough for me. Long story short, The c320ws is a really good value for money. No camera will be perfect for everyone but this one covers all the bases and works really well as compared to other competitors in the same price range. Did not test cloud service, did not need it. After the test I bought three more cameras to satisfy my needs.
I think it is a pretty good endorsement that I gave my C320WS to my in-laws. (I get that some people hate their in-laws, that is not my case.) I didn't want to give them just any camera. I wanted one that they could operate easily. It has been working great for them.

It appears you need Tapo Care for the AI feature. It would have been nice if you listed what features worked only if you purchased the Tapo Care. I've encountered other camera's where only very basic features worked without a subscription. Including what the price is for Tapo Care would be good.
Which AI features are you referring to? The person detection is included without a subscription. Everything I demonstrated in the video was without a subscription.

For free it says; "Motion Detection" and under "Tapo Care"; "AI Detection" which I believe would be person detection to help identify false positives isn't free. In fairness at 7:22 for Tapo Care Cloud Services it does show on the screen 30 days of cloud video history, plus new smart features like AI detection. At 7:34 the screen shows Privacy Mode and Tapo Care. It would have been nice if you clicked on "Tapo Care" so we could see what was in there. It says for Tapo Care "Privacy Zones" are only available under "Tapo Care". It does appear "Privacy Mode" works without "Privacy Zones". i do not need the ethernet cable so rather than drillng a large hole in my facia board can i cut off the ethernet plug tape up the wire and just push it through my soffit and just then connect my power cable which requires a smaller hole to go through my fascia board , will the camera still function ok thanks
Only different in using them is both the C310 and C320 have very good and enough detail in their cameras. The C320 can have near colour at night without floodlight, and the C310 is bw at night (colour with floodlight at night), that is the only real difference.
Could you also show the zoom for the two resolutions. I assume it's a Pinch and zoom on the camera image. I have two Tapo indoor cameras this works for, so I can see more details, so I assume these do.
I have C310 and the compression of video is absolutely horrible. Also the AI is bad at recognision of people at greater distance. My camera is on first floor looking down to backyard and from 20 cases can detect people on one. Camera is really good at detecting motion, especially rain. During rain it records hours and hours of video.
Does the camera record simultaneously on SD card and cloud storage? Usecase: If the internet connection is out, I can still retrieve video from the SD card in case of any event. Thanks for answer.

Hi Thanks for the video. I have set the C320WS camera and worked fine. My house is located facing the street and this camera is set up to get the view of my front yard where my cars are parked. Just after my driveway line there is pedestrian pathway and then the road. It triggers loads of notification especially at night if some car passes by, and if shadow creeps into the the field of my camera from the pedestrian pathway. i have reduced all the levels to 2-3 setting. From midnoon till evening notifications are bit less. But from evening 5pm until 9am phone bombards with notification. Is there any chance to reduce this? or any polarized filter or film/surround guard that would help?
Is your's stuck on? I moved this light to a different location just the other day and somehow or another the motion light got stuck on. I couldn't get any of the settings to turn it off. I ended up just removing it from the app and reinstalling it and it seems to have fixed the problem.

If you have the Tapo account anyone logged into that can use the cameras, my wife and I can control the cameras in the Tapo app on our phones, we got six C200's covering both inside and outside (through the windows) of our house, just ordered the C320WS for the outside patio area at the back of our house.
The angle is about twice of the other cheap cctv cameras. As when replaced by cheap chinese versions, these C310 and C320 replaced two of these chinese cameras, I would say its about 210, as against a wall you get 10 10 of each side of the wall shown,
Yes. You need to set up a login for non app access in the camera settings and then you can connect to the camera using VLC. TP link has an article somewhere with the exact steps

how do I turn the bright lights OFF on the Tapo c320ws.? They're on day/night, I thought they were for full color? should they stay on even in day light?
I had a problem early on where the light turned on and I couldn't get it to turn off. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the app and it hasn't happened since. Is that the problem you are having?
@@Rickmakes Hey! I just turned the phone screen button to daylight(smart setting) , then to the right of that turned the light bulb icon off. It lights automatic at dark, only when triggered .
When you get a notification, do you get a snapshot of the detection or just a message? I like cameras that gives you a preview of what it saw so I can see what it picked up without having to go into the app.
I have 500Mbps internet. Mine is probably 10-15 feet away from my modem but it is going through a brick wall multiple plaster walls and a floor to get to it. They would probably work 20 meters away if you don't have things between them and the router. Do you have a device like a smartphone that can access the wifi from the location you want the cameras? I would guess if a smartphone can access wifi, these would access it better with their big antennas.
@@Rickmakes thanks, only got fiber 150mbps here in philippines. But I do see the difference between the one on the wall in front 4 meters away and the one at the gate like 12 meters away from modem. Specially when zoom. The onr at gat gets bit blurry. But thats only if zoom in distance , its monitoring the gate and the side, which is the purpose. But ai love the full color nightmode and the IR. Nice appnand interface too. Works very well for that money. Only noticed the cam gets bit warm like a phonecharger, already turned the 2 led lights of, seems bit less now.
If the c310 is meeting your needs, go ahead and keep it. If you want a little more resolution, a wider field of view or the motion light, then you might want to upgrade. If you do upgrade, you could potentially find another place to put the old camera.
@@Rickmakes The C310 is $68, the C320WS $58 on sale, normally $88. Nice price, at least here in Sweden. Got it today and for the price I'm impressed, got two C200 covering the back of the house, peeking out of the windows, the C320WS has a wider field of view with higher quality video which make the other two redundant.

I think most would probably mount it around the height of a door. Maybe a little higher or lower depending upon your preference. Lower might give you better results when looking at faces. Higher would make it more secure from tampering. It can help to plug it in and hold it in different locations while monitoring it to see what position works best for you.
It's hard to say. It is dependent on many factors. Mine records when detecting motion. I currently have a couple of months worth (May-August) of recording on my 32GB card. If I had a 128GB card in it, I'm guessing I could have a year's worth at the rate I record.

Yeah well. You know that before you buy it. Then you need a ptz or dome cam. And hope that those cheap ptz and dome cams will last for a while outdoors. Cos they are not so waterproof as claimed in ads
wireless supposed to be no wires right? so how come there are wires to plug in... hahayyzzzzzzz... i know tapo c310 has wire but to put in your title c320 wireless doesnt make sense bcuz it has wires also...
I can see how that would be confusing. "Wireless" in this context is referring to the networking. These still require plug in power. I did some searching and there is a battery powered Tapo camera available: amzn.to/3GB73td (Tapo C420S2)
I have been running mine for nearly a year with no problems. Are you unable to access them or are you able to access them but it freezes? I would make sure you have the latest firmware and maybe do a factory reset.
@@Rickmakes The cam works as it should rubbish and has the latest FW and has been reset about 5 times, never in a month of Sundays is it 2k not even 1080 , the AI at night is useless, the colour mode at night is all washed out and you can not make out anyone... 15fps is crap as you need 25fps or more , if I knew it was only 15fps I would never of got it, daytime video is useless as that's all choppy and you can't make anyone's face out over 5 yards lol ...motion blur at night and in the day makes it hard to see someone's face... It's just low budget the sooner it's gone the better I say, ....4K WITH ZOOM Reolink at 25fps is what you need not this rubbish

In Latin America we cover the cameras with a cage, and the plugs are installed inside an isolated box.

Human detection works quite well. It only occasionally gives a false notification. It also works at a distance as it picks up people on the street.

If you have the Tapo account anyone logged into that can use the cameras, my wife and I can control the cameras in the Tapo app on our phones, we got six C200's covering both inside and outside (through the windows) of our house, just ordered the C320WS for the outside patio area at the back of our house.
The angle is about twice of the other cheap cctv cameras. As when replaced by cheap chinese versions, these C310 and C320 replaced two of these chinese cameras, I would say its about 210, as against a wall you get 10 10 of each side of the wall shown,
It would have been better to compare video images if the cameras had been pointed at the same point (height direction)

Yes. You need to set up a login for non app access in the camera settings and then you can connect to the camera using VLC. TP link has an article somewhere with the exact steps

Human detection is free. Mine is set to send a notification when it detects a human and it records to the microSD card. No subscription necessary.
how do I turn the bright lights OFF on the Tapo c320ws.? They're on day/night, I thought they were for full color? should they stay on even in day light?
I had a problem early on where the light turned on and I couldn't get it to turn off. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the app and it hasn't happened since. Is that the problem you are having?

, then to the right of that turned the light bulb icon off. It lights automatic at dark, only when triggered .
When you get a notification, do you get a snapshot of the detection or just a message? I like cameras that gives you a preview of what it saw so I can see what it picked up without having to go into the app.

You can have it record continuously but I just have it record humans. I am using a 32GB card and I have recordings back four months.

It should continue recording to the SD card without the wifi connected but I don't have an easy way to test it right now.

You think they still connect 20 meter away from modem?
I have 500Mbps internet. Mine is probably 10-15 feet away from my modem but it is going through a brick wall multiple plaster walls and a floor to get to it. They would probably work 20 meters away if you don't have things between them and the router. Do you have a device like a smartphone that can access the wifi from the location you want the cameras? I would guess if a smartphone can access wifi, these would access it better with their big antennas.
@@Rickmakes thanks, only got fiber 150mbps here in philippines. But I do see the difference between the one on the wall in front 4 meters away and the one at the gate like 12 meters away from modem. Specially when zoom. The onr at gat gets bit blurry. But thats only if zoom in distance , its monitoring the gate and the side, which is the purpose. But ai love the full color nightmode and the IR. Nice appnand interface too. Works very well for that money.
Only noticed the cam gets bit warm like a phonecharger, already turned the 2 led lights of, seems bit less now.

Does C320WS support RTSP stream?
It does but I haven't tested it yet. From what I understand, you need to remove the microSD card if you want to use RTSP.
I own the c310. Is it worth upgrading to the c320ws?
If the c310 is meeting your needs, go ahead and keep it. If you want a little more resolution, a wider field of view or the motion light, then you might want to upgrade. If you do upgrade, you could potentially find another place to put the old camera.

Got it today and for the price I'm impressed, got two C200 covering the back of the house, peeking out of the windows, the C320WS has a wider field of view with higher quality video which make the other two redundant.

I think most would probably mount it around the height of a door. Maybe a little higher or lower depending upon your preference. Lower might give you better results when looking at faces. Higher would make it more secure from tampering. It can help to plug it in and hold it in different locations while monitoring it to see what position works best for you.

It's hard to say. It is dependent on many factors. Mine records when detecting motion. I currently have a couple of months worth (May-August) of recording on my 32GB card. If I had a 128GB card in it, I'm guessing I could have a year's worth at the rate I record.

I just got a TC60 and will be getting the C310 next week. Good cameras.
I really like it. It has been very good on person detection. Every once in a while it has a false positive but it is rare enough to not bother me.

Yes. You can continuously monitor them since they are connected to power (unlike battery powered cameras).

I can see how that would be confusing. "Wireless" in this context is referring to the networking. These still require plug in power. I did some searching and there is a battery powered Tapo camera available: amzn.to/3GB73td (Tapo C420S2)
Software is no good on the Tapo cams keeps locking up, then you have to keep resetting your router...rubbish
I have been running mine for nearly a year with no problems. Are you unable to access them or are you able to access them but it freezes? I would make sure you have the latest firmware and maybe do a factory reset.
@@Rickmakes The cam works as it should rubbish and has the latest FW and has been reset about 5 times, never in a month of Sundays is it 2k not even 1080 , the AI at night is useless, the colour mode at night is all washed out and you can not make out anyone... 15fps is crap as you need 25fps or more , if I knew it was only 15fps I would never of got it, daytime video is useless as that's all choppy and you can't make anyone's face out over 5 yards lol ...motion blur at night and in the day makes it hard to see someone's face... It's just low budget the sooner it's gone the better I say, ....4K WITH ZOOM Reolink at 25fps is what you need not this rubbish
