  • The cost of living in Anchorage Alaska can be prohibitive to some, so today I'm going to show you what you can expect to pay for utilities in Alaska, based off what people actually are paying. I'll also provide information from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. As always, feel free to ask any questions you have!

    Was this useful? What expense would you like to see covered next?

      I would like to see information about average income in Alaska, and how it compares with other states.

    Alaska sounds like the dream! ...as someone who's originally from the tropics, the winters are what really scare me about living in Alaska 😁

    Perhaps you could do a video on internet connectivity and pros/cons with coverage. For e.g.:How do some of the islands receive coverage?

    New to the content and a bit further north so maybe it's a bit different for you or maybe you've already answered this but what is your natural gas to heating oil ratio down there? Our borough it is offering a change out program right now to make the switch to natural gas.

      In most places in the MatSu Borough and Anchorage (and I mean like 99%) are gas. As you go further towards the Kenai, the inverse is really the case.

    I haven't see much information regarding taxes. I know it varies greatly depending on where you live. I think that would be an interesting topic to cover, especially regarding the buying and sell of property.

    What are ways to offset the cost of heating in the winter? Is it cheaper to have a wood stove or pellet stove? We get cold winters here in Maine. I actually like the cold but I don't want to go broke trying to stay warm in Alaska.

      You can save money on trash pickup as well. Get a metal 55 gallon drum and burn all your trash. It may not be legal but it would save money. If not, how much would a dumpster be price wise?

    Can we talk about how Chugach Electric bought out ML&P and not only did my cost per kwh go up 3$ and Chugach has all the other monthly reoccurring fees which basically upped my normal bill by 30$. I know that doesn't seem like a lot for some but for some that's a lot!

    Does that 200 bucks include them pumping your septic tank once a year?

    • @alaska_realtor
      @alaska_realtor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not so sure about that, but likely. That's about the only work that needs done on the septic each year.

    I love your channel!! I'm wanting to move to alaska some day when I'm older. I have a question though. I saw a listing on Zillow and it was from your real estate company. I just wanted to know if it is still available? 3904 Hayes St, Anchorage, AK

    • @alaska_realtor
      @alaska_realtor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! It is still available. It's a foreclosure (and it's older than the entire state of Alaska), but it looks like it's in pretty good shape for a foreclosure, at first glance.
