  • AMT 37 Chevy Coupe unboxing.
    This is the AMT 37 Chevy Coupe Street Rods collection. It’s in the 25th anniversary boxing from 1973. We first saw this kit in 1968 it was re boxed with new decals in 1979, 2014, then again in 2021. I’m not sure of the part count, but this kit is loaded. No flash to talk about, and everything is molded nicely. This kit was found by a friend at work who found it unopened at a toy show. He grabbed it for me because he knew it was a cool kit.

    There was a Salt Shaker version from somewhere around 1980, and it was reissued as that in recent history. I have the two leftovers of what I built in my teen years, an older early issue that may have been in the box art of the kit that you have, and the newest Stovebolt reissue that includes the parts to build the car as stock interior with the stock dash cluster, or tuck & roll interior with the race cluster like the two I built when in my teens.
    The 37 coupe kit begs for the engine from the AMT 51 Chevy coupe kit with the Wayne crossflow head, Hilborn fuel injection, and six port header! Early drag race, salt flat with full fenders, slammed Cali cruiser, or subtle driver with a Revell big block Chevy from the 67 Chevelle kit. Super kit to build as you see it in your mind's eye!
    The 37 Chevy coupe is in the top two of my favorite car body designs to tie along with a 40 Willys coupe. I have a 29 Ford A Tudor hotrod that I drive and built. I love a 32 Ford!

    • @patrickmoran8790
      @patrickmoran8790 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The early Salt Shaker actually had molded two piece tires similar to what your kit has, but they were Goodyear salt flats special race tires. I haven't seen anyone making a resin or nylon repop of salt racing tall and skinny copies of those tires. If someone decides to make some, I'm in for a few sets in 1/25 scale.

      I love all the old one's from the old T-Buckets on. I've been on this kick for just about a year now, and just can't get enough.

    • @patrickmoran8790
      @patrickmoran8790 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The flat panels on the sprue with the frame are the fillers to go in place of the front fenders as the salt flats option of the car that's not in the instructions, and also one of the two reasons for the supercharged BBC. The high arch springs in the chrome tree are for the gasser drag option.
      There's a tan 37 Chevy coupe from the St' Louis are that is stunning to look at and stunning to watch go down the strip. It has a turbo Chevy 292 inline with three Holley 500 cfm two barrel carbs, and a Powerglide with transbrake! I've watched it click a 10.00 1/4 mile because it was tuned to make that run with more left! With the set of modern steel wheels and hubcaps they have, the car is a sleeper that will shock you!

    • @grandpamarkshobbies
      @grandpamarkshobbies  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for that. I was wondering what they would be used for. I would love to see that one run down the track. I'll bet it screams!! Thanks again.

    I have been looking for this kit for awhile. I have a passion for 30’s and 40’s coupes. I have a Revell/Monogram 39 Chev coupe, but Street Rod only version. My complaint with Revell is they decide what you can build. That’s why I always preferred AMT 3 in 1 kits. Any way I recently found a AMT 37 Chevy Coupe on eBay. I paid a lot more for mine,, (well over $50 with shipping), but less than they were asking. I really wanted this car. Mines a newer round 2 version. I like the box art on the one you have, very nice. Yours says 454 engine, mine 427. One improvement in mine, the 4 tires are vinyl whitewalls with 2 white letter slicks. I did a preliminary parts fit check and. I have some concerns about the two piece hood and especially the body to frame alignment/fit. I really like the look/style of this coupe. I can see Humphrey Bogart behind the wheel in The Maltese Falcon. I tend to go stock with changes I would do if this was my real car. Not a fan of big blocks, so I’ll drop a small block 283 with 4 barrel carb under the hood. A 4 speed and dual exhaust. Probably stock wheels, but maybe chrome reverse with baby moons. I will build the stock 6 and display it. Not sure of the color yet, looking forward to seeing yours. That yellow looks sharp. Oh, the extra pair of headlights with the pointy center are Lucas Lights, very popular with custom guys in the 60’s. Jaguar used them.

    My tree mostly has numbers, a few are missing. I recently bought a Fujimi 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO. Beautiful kit, super clean, parts are all numbered, but all the instructions are in Japanese. There’s a lot of them and I have no idea what any of it says. The pictures are good though. Ha!
