      After watching your grocery order ,I bought some bananas and sliced and added lemon juice, I have them in the freezer and soon I will put them in baggies. I’m the same size as you.working on eating without sugar. It’s really hard. I ordered a 1x pant from spank,and they are sorta tight. Did you find them ok.? Mine are a quite heavy fabric,

    Selfishly, I'm glad you're doing more of the food/weight loss videos. Admittedly, I'm not much of a fashion gal. If the fashion fairy had showed up when I was born and issued me a standard uniform to wear for life, with size changes over time, I would have been quite happy. I'm the laziest clothing person ever. I think the amount of weight you've lost over the course of a year is fantastic. It's a comfortable, sustainable pace. Nice work.

    I buy at Walmart in Virginia, a small clamshell package of baby leaf lettuce, a bag of baby spinach, sprinkle the carrot matchsticks, a few blueberries, nuts, and we use the Brianna red wine vinegar dressing. My daughter started us on this, it is so good. You can also add some chicken, fish, etc. and have a complete meal.

    Hi. Cathy. I can only have a berry smoothie. Bananas are too high in sugar for me for im diabetic. I love Brussel sprouts. I really like your cooking show. The hamburger soup still my favorite of what you make 😋 greek yogurt is so good. I use a bit of monk fruit to sweeten it up just abit. Grilled cheese 🧀 😋 yummy. My hubby makes the best grilled cheese ever. That sounds good olive oil on the arugla. I find it so dry. Those are small cucumbers 🥒 😅 another veggie im to stay clear of carrots and corn 🌽 🫛 . Turn into sugars for me that is. Everyone is different and know what they can have and not. 😉 im lucky i dont wish for sweets. My hubby he loves sweets. Im going to try that spreadable butter. Ive been getting butter and its so salty i have to watch the sodium use . I get the no sugar added ketcup. Its tasty. I'll look for the ryvita 🎊 crackers. Is the almond milk now safe after the recalls. I know foods are so expensive. My hubby and i get our meats at the local meat market so fresh. The organic chicken so delicious what a difference in taste. We dont eat alot of meats. It pays for us to pick it up fresh. I really enjoy your cooking shows and grocery hauls. I to have to get back up on the wagon also Of healthy meals. Im seeing a dietician next week. For im diabetic and have to really watch what i eat. Thanks Kathy. See you soon. 🥰 your very encouraging. 👋✌️🫶🙏🙌

      @jonap5740 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Are you sure? I am pre-diabetic and my RD (registered dietician) told me 3 small servings a day of fruit is ok. So I can cut up a bunch of different fruits and have a half cup serving at a time. But she said it was essential to pair it with protein/fiber to slow the sugar uptake. So I have it with Ryvita cracker, or no sugar peanut butter or with cottage cheese.

    • @donnamedley4712
      @donnamedley4712 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I know what the dietician says, but we all react differently. For me personally, fruit salad like that runs me through the roof, even with the cracker. I'm happy for you that you can, but just doesn't work for me. Maybe because I've been diabetic for so long. (25 yrs or more)

    Like the idea of meal prepping videos. Even when Covid was a thing, I hated ordering delivery. They never were able to pick fruit and veggies like I can, so as soon as the shopping ban was lifted, I was back at the store with my mask! I'm your cheering section! Go Cathy! I didn't get lazy in August, but I also didn't lose any weight. Like sharing tips! Hard boiled eggs are a wonderful snack instead of fruit around 3:30-4:00 in the afternoon. That's when I need something to tide me over. I'm also not a fan of bananas, ginger, or greek yogurt. I do a fruit at night while watching tv with my hubs. My favorite is fresh raspberries or blackberries. Keeps me regular too (if you know what I mean!) Air popped corn is also a nice after dinner snack. I'm on WW, and have lost 15 lbs since January. I'm 66, and live in Seattle Washington!

      Agree. It's like that here in Canada also. A good price on broccoli is $4. I bought a $6 cauliflower, but it's huge, and I can add curry powder and olive oil and a can of chickpeas and a bit of milk or tomatoes and have a curry enough to feed us and have leftovers. Serve on brown rice. Fiber, protein, healthy fat and yummy.

You mentioned wanting to try another green smoothie recipe - my favorite is the vitamix going green smoothie - might be easier for you to google it and it is easier to find. I really wish my husband would do that for our groceries. He always goes to the store. Then he complains because he can’t get down the aisles for the big blue carts. I think he just likes to complain. I love these kind of videos. And I like to watch cooking videos. I can always use some new recipes. I don’t drink almond milk. My daughter’s whole family does. Except, my grandson when he comes over. The first thing he does is open the refrigerator and the freezer to see what’s inside. Then he goes to the pantry. He’s just trying to figure out what he wants to eat. And he drinks chocolate milk here. I use Nestle Quik in my milk. And he uses a lot of it in his milk. I think he’s the only one in their house who doesn’t really like almond milk. But that’s all his mom buys. I’m not sure he drinks milk at his house. His younger brother and sisters are vegetarians. They were raised that way. And I don’t think that will last when they get older. My seven year old granddaughter already wants to try meat. His older sisters were vegetarians. But two eat chicken and fish and the third one will eat any meat, I think.

    I agree entirely with your nutritionist's idea to eat food you enjoy, keeping processed foods to a minimum. My dietician said the same thing. I hate yogurt but I can tolerate the no-fat Greek yogurt if I add a bit of honey and flax seed (for heart health) and vanilla and cinnamon in with the fruit. I need something that I have to chew for dinner though or I will feel as though I am missing out! (PS Mine said no more than 3 small servings of fruit a day. Eat more veg than fruit, is her idea. I'm trying to like fruit but I keep running into chocolate bars! ha!) You did so well in the past, and I think you can return to the healthier eating now that it will soon be fall!

    I buy fruit in season or when it is a good sale price. I then cut it up and put it in smaller freezer bags. This allows me to have fresh fruit and berries and not have them rot.
    You have to be very portion conscious with fruit when trying to lose weight, because they are high in carbs - which is one of the reasons for weight gain. Most vegetables - except certain root vegetables and winter squash - are great for eating for weight loss!
    Unfortunately, yogurt is another food high in carbs if it's flavored. There is a lot of sugar in it, sadly. If you are eating sandwiches, I highly recommend the various keto breads available. They are much lower in carbs than any standard bread as well as having less sugar.
    When making your roasted vegetables, put the shredded carrots in after the other, bigger vegetables have cooked for awhile. If you put them in at the same time with the others, they will just burn and get very hard. The secret with roasted vegetables is to have them all cut to around the same size so some aren't done before the others.
    Sorry but apples aren't low glycemic - they are high in sugar. A medium apple has about 25 grams of carbs! A lot when you consider a low carb meal, in total, should only have 20 to 25 carbs. Pears are also high in sugar. And maple syrup is just liquid sugar! It's not healthy nor part of a good eating plan.
    And lower carbs is the answer for weight loss. I've lost 45-50 pounds eating lower carbs - but not crazy keto style! My eating plan consists of organic produce, meats, and full-fat dairy (except milks which are high in sugar). But I do make sure not to eat produce that is high in sugar.
    You will notice a quicker weight loss if you are very carb conscious, but that doesn't mean you can't have delicious meals and feel satisfied! I know because I'm a quantity eater and have had a weight loss problem most of my life. But not for the past three years!

      I'm working with a registered dietician and this is what works for me. We all have to follow the plan that will be satisfying and sustainable and eating a balanced diet works for me. Congrats on your weight loss, that's amazing!

    • @jonap5740

      A cup of apple slices has 17 grams of carbs. And Cathy has found something that works for her, with the help of a registered dietician. No one should lose more than 1-2 pounds of weight a week, and life situations need to be taken into account. My dietician said 3 meals of 30 g of carbs per meal plus two 15 gram carbs snacks a day will help the brain not need a huge carb boost. In other words, will help avoid a binge. And the RD said that this small an amount is quite difficult and needn't be followed so strictly to lose weight slowly and safely. You are literally starving your brain when you don't eat enough carbs. That is what "carb flu" is.

    • @garmtpug
      @garmtpug 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@jonap5740 LOL! Well that doesn't sound especially healthy. A total of 120 carbs a day! No thank you. If you want to lose weight, you must lower your intake or high glycemic carbohydrates. It's as simple as that as well as cutting out processed foods. Any of that type of information is easy to find on line.
      To maintain a weight is different than losing weight and too many carbs will slow down or stop the weight loss process.
      I'm not sure why people need a dietician to tell them what will help them to lose weight and what is healthy. All the info is out there on line or in books and paying someone to tell you what you can get for free is foolish. In fact, it's been available to the public for decades!
      Unless you've got an underlying health problem, a person should be able to tackle weight loss without paying someone to tell them not to eat sugar or processed foods!
      And if you think about it, since you are paying a dietician, wouldn't it be counter productive for them to want you to loose weight and feel better? And stop coming to them? They aren't a non-profit entity. They would want you to keep coming to them (and consequently keep paying them) asking questions, figuring out diet plans, teaching you what not to eat. All things that a person can easily do on their own.
      I have diabetes and being overweight is a main driver of that disease. When I learned I was diabetic I lost between 45 and 50 pounds without the help of a dietician or a diabetes specialist with diet and exercise. And kept it off! I do not take insulin any more and take only pill-form medication twice a day.. All the info I needed to get my weight and my blood sugar back on track I found online without much searching at all. Maybe other people need handholding or someone looking stuff up for them, but that just isn't for me.

      @@garmtpug In my province in Canada, seeing a registered dietician is free. And they have seven years of university education so they have so much more education about what minerals and vitamins interact together, how many mg of vit K you need, how to fuel the brain without starving it and causing a binge etc. I am glad you found out things that work for you. Please consider the idea that RDs don't make stuff up, they are coming from a place of education and are very helpful. They ARE literally a non-profit entity. They work as part of the health care system, as do nurses and doctors. We don't pay those either. Best of luck to you with your diabetes. Isn't Cathy great?!!! I admire her so much.

      Personally for me (possibly for her too) I hate chewing fruits and veggies. I find I eat more fruits and veggies when I blend them up in a smoothie than when I don't sometimes. Satiation does not just come from chewing. Look up the studies on eating soup.. soup tends to be very satiating and that's almost all liquid.
