What is CodeNames?
Let me be the first to say that I think this game is better live so chat can also guess and lose their mind. But I still wanted to post it. Youll like it!
Two teams compete by each having a "spymaster" give one-word clues that can point to multiple words on the board. The other players on the team attempt to guess their team's words while avoiding the words of the other team. In a variant with 2-3 players, one spymaster gives clues to the other player or players.
So the Spy Master of each time will say a word and a number. The word given is the connecting word that relates to OTHER words on the board. The Number given is how many OTHER words on the board it relates to.
First team to guess all of the words without hitting a bomb wins. If you guess an opponent words or a free spot your turn ends and the other team goes
You'll pick it up fast!

I feel like Chilled has third impostered a bit as guesser with the movie references and Cheesy third imposters a bit as Spymaster with his clues being so broad they associate with anything.
"First you f* me with lion knuckles, then you f* my family!" is a sentence that I definitely hope has never been said before.

I like Courtilly, but that drove me nuts. I would have yelled at them a lot sooner than Chilled did.
Even Court was like "oh not black hole I guess." but then went straight back to black hole. XD
@@prismaticboy7531 I mean, to be fair, Courtilly 0 shouldn't be read as "don't listen to her", just "ignore the ones she marked before". What followed was just Chilled's justified rage at the outstanding leaps and stretches that she managed to pull off, heh

Well they can't just let Courtilly not playing the game, they got away from Paralysis Demon and Black Hole, and that's probally enough in common sense. You can't fault them for listening to Courtilly after those 2 card avoided.

Steam turbines are, by far, the most efficient and cost effective way to produce power. That’s why renewable energy projects are also focusing on finding ways to cleanly heat water.

I started to laugh so hard and that ending actually had me in tears because how much caos was going on

I've never seen Chilled so genuinely close to a heart attack because of any game. Not even Among Us. Codenames is not for the weak 😂

I swear to god Chilled has the uncanny ability of always deafening right when someone else is talking about something I find interesting.
I do sometimes wish there was a feature where the viewer can choose between multiple soundstracks from multiple original sources and mix them

The setup for that was absolutely insane.
The entire session is woven together as a story in 4 arcs.
There's a first game in which we get a feel for how our characters play and what the game is capped off with the deep and subtle foreshadowing brought by the frustration of lion knuckles. A second arc from 23:06 where Chilled steps away from spymaster, but through Smarty being Smarty over multiple short games, Chilled is faced with the prospect of reclaiming the burden to lead his team to victory. Then the third arc - 40:30. We know it's one more game. We see the teams. We see the board and we know what is to come. Chilled takes a big risk that only pays off slightly as both teams bumble around and Courtilly takes the mantle of main villain spearheading the push to all the worst cards, but Tom and Platy make their own blue card blunders - Tom has the foreboding name on FAMILY, but it's small peas compared to Courtilly's damage. With COURTILLY 0, as Courtilly continues to ravage the team despite the clue, Tom distinguishes himself as Chilled's impulsive hero while Platy is the subtle voice of reason, and the two prevent the worst from happening by taking a logic leap into white. But then - act 4 - Tom forebodingly states, 57:05 : "Yo, no matter what I'm hitting FAMILY next round," to everyone's laughing disapproval. We have a recap with Chilled and Aphex over the shenanigans of both teams, as the blue turn begins. Smarty hovers over some blue cards, fails to consult his teammate for the first pick, and declares his faith in a blue FAMILY, but he pulls a magnificent Smarty moment with his teammate and vindicates Platy's continued, quiet faith in SHARK from the very first clue Chilled gave. And then - the next clue is laid out perfectly. 2 art cards, 1 Van. As Chilled slowly comes to realize the clue after entertaining a risky one that could've led to FAMILY, there's a brief moment where the audience gains hope. Chilled knows it's his moment. The team is working together with Tom consulting his team on each one, Courtilly is reformed, and the red cards come slamming through. All is okay, and perhaps the danger will be in the discussion of the final card? But then Tom's impulsiveness, Tom's declaration, they come bearing their terrible fruit in an instant. By the time we realize that the thing we've dreaded is happening _now,_ it's already over - the audience is led to be as shocked with mood whiplash as Chilled. Tom scores for blue and leaves them with only 2 cards, chaos ensues - Chilled unmutes, Platy berates Tom, and Aphex and Smarty cut off any hope left of a final victory before the dust settles. The scene ends after Chilled's grief where he airs it all out in front of the whole cast - it was lion knuckles all that time ago, and now he was Fricked by FAMILY. Even as _Smarty_ is in the background _justifying a misstep of his,_ Chilled says of Court that he'd never seen someone as wrong as her, before reclining back in defeat. The cast speaks of Chilled's emotional damage.
"I never thought family would turn on us so hard," Courtilly muses over a defeated Chilled.
"I know," Tom says.
Smarty IS smart. He's like... 18/20 Intelligence, just 3/20 Wisdom

Half of the reason I watch these is to watch the Spymasters lose their minds at the operatives. There's so much catharsis.

Tom's laugh after insta-clicking family and completely fucking them over was brimming with chaos and satisfaction. It's easily forgotten that Tom will 100% choose the most chaotic and destructive option if he thinks it'll be funny. And he's usually right.

"I never actually watched The Simpsons, I wasn't allowed" if my mother wasn't busy when it was on and saw the Itchy and Scratchy gore parts (pretty gory for a rated 12 show) she told me that I wouldn't have been able to watch it.
As someone who studied criminology, watching them butcher that first clue physically hurt to watch, but I also get it because I've explained the difference between criminology and criminal justice so many times that I have an elevator pitch for it.

One of my siblings got the board game version of this and we were playing with family, boys vs girls.
Some of my siblings had the problem of only looking at the cards that they needed the team to get. In one game, after the boys had their turn, my sister chose her clue to be Ocean.... the bomb was Water. We lost that game very quickly.

One thing I never see this group do is nibble the edges. When you got a good 3-4 and hold off by getting rid some random 1-2 clues. Especially when there is overlap with opposing clues.
I am still not over the assassins creed Olive Garden connection, with chilled insisting someone will get it. I may never be over it…

Fun historical interpretation of the Taj Mahal (read this paper in a Middle Eastern Art Class): Taj Mahal is not some triumphant marker of affection to his favorite wife (he had hundreds). The Taj Mahal was low key a giant throne fit for God that the shah sort of implied he should sit in. The justifications were strong, and I'm inclined to believe a ruler with such an inferiority complex would commission a work like that and for that reason. You should see how over the top his royal print of the Shahnameh was (which was another low key dick measuring contest for rulers in that region).
