  • In this video, we share some of the best things to do in the Yukon, including Whitehorse, Dawson, Kluane National Park, and more!
    Welcome to the Yukon!
    Known for its dramatic landscapes, vast wilderness, and the famous Klondike Gold Rush, the Yukon has been capturing people's imaginations for years. With four-legged creatures far outnumbering humans, Canada's tallest mountain peaks, and the world's largest non-polar glacier, the Yukon is a true paradise for adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts.
    We started our journey in Whitehorse, the Yukon's capital city. From here, we toured the SS Klondike, ate some delicious food in Whitehorse's oldest buildings, saw heaps of wildlife, and caught a glimpse of the Northern Lights. We then went to Dawson, the worlds most famous gold rush town. While walking around the old boardwalk streets was incredible enough, we also went gold panning, toured the massive dredge #4, watched a Cancan show at the oldest casino in the country, and took a river cruise on a paddle-wheeler. We then drove up the infamous Dempster Highway all the way to Eagle Plains, past the Arctic Circle and into the Northwest Territories. After coming back and spending another night in Dawson, we drove to Kluane National Park for one of the most epic flightseeing tours we've ever experienced.
    We explored the Yukon from August 16 - September 6th, 2017!

    **
    Canada's Road to 150 is a 150-day Canada-wide multi-media road trip celebrating Canada's 150th birthday by exploring the uniqueness of this country provincially and collectively while answering the question; What makes Canada special?
    We will drive to and through every driveable province and territory, showcasing Canada's natural beauty and regional attractions while interviewing Canadians of all cultures and backgrounds, including local celebrities, immigrants, refugees, and everyday rural and urban Canadians. Our aim is to dig deep into what makes Canada such an incredibly inspiring country while showing off the best of Canada's tourism to Canadians and to the world.

    I'm planning a second driving trip across Canada. I wish I had this series of videos before my first trip. Now I know of all these new places to see on the upcoming trip. This really was a beautiful series and so well done. Complements to the photographer/editor too. I enjoyed this so much. Finding objective travel information is so difficult. I sure wish you would dip south and do a similar series of the states in the US. Travel information here is so piecemeal it's really difficult to plan a road trip. Again, thanks for an amazing journey. O Canada!

    The Yukon was the highlight of our Canada 150 wanders. We chickened out on the Dempster figuring that it might be a bit challenging for the Roadtrek. On the other hand, we were there near the Solstice (June 10-16) so we were able to experience the "midnight sun". For the same reason, we missed out on the aurora. The best eating value in town is the casino (Diamond Tooth Gertie's). Great homemade food (including steak) at a fair price. We also fell in love with Yukon Gold beer. We need to return some time when we are not trying to hit 10 provinces and do the place more justice.

    • @MustDoCanada
      @MustDoCanada  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      haha I was nervous of the Dempster too. And it is pretty rough. Not as bad as I imagined but still a rough ride for that length of time. We also had special permission to drive to Tuk so that's why we had to go! But yes, I need to go back for longer too. Far too rushed

    I enjoyed watching your Yukon video. I’m sure it will help educate others about the Yukon and will help promote tourism. I was disappointed that there was no mention of the indigenous people that have lived here long before the gold rush days. Unlike the Nunavut video, which highlighted the Inuit people and culture, the Yukon video was remiss of any mention of the six indigenous groups that live here. Overall, your series beautifully captures much of what Canada has to offer.

      To let ya know. The highway in the NT doesn't go all the way to Inuvik it stops at Wrigley. On top of that the ice road that opens in the wintertime only, only heads up to Colville lake. But the north is untamed and vast. 😃
