  • 24 year-old weightlifter Mattie Rogers, whose personal journey to the 2020 Arnold Championships is also part of a longer quest to join the USA Olympic Weightlifting team this summer in Tokyo, takes us behind the scenes of her current training program. She discusses the challenge of overcoming a recent back injury, as well as changing up her diet to add LBs. She also looks back on the origins of her work ethic and her athletic evolution from gymnastics to competitive cheerleading, CrossFit, and Olympic weightlifting.
    Rogue’s complete live stream of the 2020 Arnold Strongman Classic begins here on Friday, March 6, at 1 PM EST. 10 strongmen will compete in 6 events over 2 days for the title of Arnold Strongman Classic Champion. Rogue’s coverage of the Arnold Classic weekend will include daily episodes of the Rogue Iron Game show featuring guests from the worlds of Strongman, Olympic Lifting, Powerlifting, and CrossFit. We will also be streaming the full 2020 Rogue Record Breakers competition and the IWF Rogue World Challenge.

      BDiesel That’s a very hard thing to master for sure. People usually see that as “to prideful”, which maybe it is but usually people only say that because of jealousy. It is pride but not prideful as I’m better than everyone else but I want to better tomorrow than I am today. Or at least that’s how I see it.

      Literally explained in the video... Exactly what she said. Olympic weightlifting is highly technical.

    • @ShitAndLobster
      @ShitAndLobster 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Outland9000 Please, check the timestamp. She says it's highly technical, yes, but she goes on to contradict herself for whatever reason. If you don't see this then I can only assume you feel I'm trying to attack her and you feel a need to defend her, which you shouldn't because this is not a personal attack and she just happens to be literally the only high-level athlete that puts POWER over TECHNIQUE in the sport of Olympic weightlifting.
      She said it's very technical, but you can be very strong and a terrible lifter. Her statement literally means it would NOT be very technical, since you would be able to just push through whatever limitations you have in technique with just pure strength, which any other high-level Olympic lifter will tell you is simply not true.

    • @itsthejdquest
      @itsthejdquest 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@ShitAndLobster No disrespect but I believe you are misunderstanding her statement. "You can be strong and a terrible weight lifter." The meaning of that statement is exactly how she said it. A person can be both strong and terrible at weight lifting. You would leave this up to the audience to understand she is pointing out that strength although important is not the focus. I believe what you think she is saying is, "You can be successful in the sport if you are strong and are a terrible weight lifter." Which is way out of context and not what she is saying.

    • @ShitAndLobster
      @ShitAndLobster 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@itsthejdquest Yeah that's pretty much the only way to look at it where it would make any sense. I still have to say I disagree (if only to play Devil's advocate) and saying such things only makes me feel that whoever says it does so only to create an invisible wall between themselves and whoever they might've lost to in the past E.g. "I put so much effort into my technique, but he was just stronger through better genetics!" -sort of thing.
      "strength although important is not the focus."
      I agree. It could be that my rhetoric is flawed, but if this was what she meant I think the proper phrasing would be the opposite of what she said: You can be a highly technical lifter and not "really really strong".
      Anyway, thanks for your thoughts!
