- Our 2nd ever music video created as a band and also the time in our career when we made the group official and branded ourselves with the name 'Onóir' - the gaelic word for 'honour'.
Filmed in the beautiful setting of McGrath Castle in Pettigoe, Co. Donegal, only several miles away from where the members of the band grew up and were raised.
The Parting Glass, a traditional Celtic song, a song of departure and often sang at funerals in celebration of the life lived by the deceased person. Funerals are sacred celebrations in both Irish and Scottish cultures.
Lyrics:
Of all the money that e'er I had
I have spent it in good company
Oh and all the harm I've ever done
Alas, it was to none but me
For all I've done for want of wit
To memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be to you all
Of all the comrades that e'er I had
They're sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I had
They would wish me one more day to stay
But since it fell into my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all
For all I've done for want of wit
To memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be to you all
A man may drink and not be drunk
A man may fight and not be sane
A man may court a pretty young girl
And alas be welcome back again
But since it fell into my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all
So fill to me the parting glass
And drink a health whate'er befalls
Then gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all
Good night and joy be to you all
Good night and joy be to you all

Aye, will you be releasing any of your fine honourable work for purchase?
Everything said in this remarks column is true.
This song is a good piece of writing and one of the better goodnight songs in the repertoire.
Note that it is very effective sung sincerely and in character by a solo artist (or pub troubadour.)
This here rendition emphasizes the melody and harmonies as a thoughtful and artistic art piece.
There is room for multiple arrangements.
What I might say is, it's not how I sing or use it; but mighty pretty!
Thank you so much it is a beautiful song and has been sung in many ways :)

🍀🍀👍🎶🎶
It's a very slow song. Is it meant to be sung in the wee hours, when everyone is drunk and tired (and they would find it difficult to do something more lively)?
Where was that filmed? So atmospheric.
A tad too slow tempo but voices brilliant
