    It was Feb.1964 , JFK had just been assassinated in Nov 1963 . We as a country were in a deep depression....and then these four lads from Britain came over here and helped us heal.

      People younger than us will never undrestand. There had never really been "Pop Music ever before. No one who was younger in 1963 than 12 years old can ever realise the impact of JFK or the Beatles, can they?? and that is why I ranked Obama alongside: pure charisma for the first time since then.

      Hi Phil. I'll be 72 in about 3 1/2 months. I also know the lyrics to just about everything they did. I think "A Hard Day's Night" had their best music. When I was a teenager, I liked them but wasn't a major fan at that time. Interestingly, my mother was a Beatles fan! As I reached my twenties, I realized how amazing their music was and continues to be. I often wonder, if John Lennon had not been murdered whether he would have continued writing and maybe collaborating with Paul, who, by the way, will be 80 next month!

      Joseph: I had to laugh at your remark, because whenever I listen carefully and "out of context" to pretty-well ANY Beatles' song I think to myself "This is surely one of the most under-rated of their songs."
      They were hit machines, and George Harrison had as much writing talent as the other two. The Beatles took over the world in a way never previously equaled, and certainly never to be matched again. It was their combination of charm, elegance, prodigious talent, British cachet, and the era - to say nothing of the guiding hand of one George Martin. The era permitted them to emerge from relative obscurity in a way that is impossible today.

      ''If I fell'' starts with descending chromatic chord that don't make sense if you just play the chords however.. Lennon sings that first line and it all ties together without a single bump which is the work of genius because the underlying chords are so far apart on the circle of 5ths. Just the first intro vocal is stunning and so damn clever. The Beatles music is riddled with unexpected chord changes and utterly sublime melody. This is why their music is studied in almost every music institution in the world. They were just that good:)

Have to say it was a high that I never experienced again in my lifetime except - when I saw them in concert and was running across the stadium field trying to get to them. 😂 I got to the stage and was caught by a security guard who brought me back to my seat - repeatedly. Move up to around 1978 and I’m sitting in a health food restaurant on a random trip to New York, asking my friends to let’s leave and go to a real restaurant and who walks In and sits about 2 tables away - John Lennon and Yoko. I felt an almost internal collapse, sat down and said “Oh never mind let’s just stay here”. I sat there and for about an hour - didn’t stare - but kept catching glances and had memories of 1964 and how much I loved them during my magical childhood. I’ve often said that had I known - at 12 yrs old - that years later I would be sitting 2 tables away from John Lennon, I would have sat in my room, refused to go to school, waiting for that trip to New York. 😂

    There are many reasons The Beatles were so successful and one of them is not only was each member capable of fronting a successful band, but each of them have. The fact that they not only kept it together for 10 years but were so inspirational during those years is just something no other band has really done and most likely never will again. We are all fortunate to be alive at a time when we have it all at our fingertips.

      Michael Williams This was from their movie, and they tried to make it as much like a real performance as they could, minus some of the screaming 😋 They were lip syncing I’m pretty sure, I may be wrong though. I do think they are because if you were to watch the movie, when they are talking the audio sounds much different than when the music starts, and there are instruments in the songs that they aren’t playing, unless Ringo had extra hands 😂

    • @michaelwilliams9550
      @michaelwilliams9550 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@avahermes2143 I think they must have done a take in the studio which was filmed, this was used in the film and these are the shots showing the band from the front, (obviously there are other musicians who are not on camera), the shots showing the back of the band and the audience is footage of them performing live to an audience (but the sound has been replaced by the studio recording).
      Hope this makes sense, its the only way I can think it was done so that the lips are in sync and also GH guitar playing in sync, which would be almost impossible for him to look faultless. Anyway we might both be wrong, they are still great.

    My mom introduced me to The Beatles when I was like 4 years old. Without understanding a single word I was captivated. And now that I can understand the words, and as a musician really appreciate the songs it stands to reason I am not only still a fan, but more of a fan then ever. If humanity survives another 10,000 years the Beatles will still be remembered.

    Just love watching this. 3 great songs and performances showing how versatile they were. Without the harmonica, I Should've Known Better would've been so much less and you've got to love George's cute little dance moves, specially the first time he does it with that shy little look that seems to be saying "Should I or shouldn't I?" Great vocal harmonies as always. I feel the earth has been truly blessed that these charismatic and talented four came together to create such great music and leave an unsurpassed legacy for us all to enjoy.

    Apart from everything else, their HARMONIES are exquisite. And they kept moving on from one new type of music to discover another new sound so that we were left breathless simply trying to keep pace. Just in the way that Beethoven revolutionised every form of music he engaged with from symphony to string quartet, so the Beatles kept changing rock/pop in ways that nobody could foresee. And the enormous plus is that we can see and hear these guys at work.

    THE BEATLES!!!!!! BEST band on the planet🌎. Four lads that shook the world!!!! They will never eveeer be surpassed no matter how hard other bands try. The Beatles started it ALL. Long hair, fashion, unique and beautiful music and more. They never stuck to one type of music like other bands did....they wrote ballads, rock, psychedelic rock. You name it. "Helter Skelter" was the first heavy metal song in history!! 27 minutes long. The Beatles were not afraid of using unique sounds in most of their songs. I saw The Beatles in person TWICE when I was a kid in Chicago. One concert was at the Chicago Amphitheater and one at Comiskey Park. I had the BEST time of my life. Wouldn` t have missed it for the world and I`ll never forget it. Long live The Beatles!!!! Peace and Love✌💗
