I want to explain the logic behind the flags, logos, and faces in this chart. For the most part, I used the most recognizable brand associated with each person's assets. If there wasn't a notable brand, I used the flag of their country. In some cases, you'll see faces - there's no specific logic there, just a personal choice. That's all. Enjoy the video!
I find it amazing that the Walton's stayed on the list even after splitting Sam's money 3 ways! I'd like to add something for context: 1 million seconds is 11 days. 1 billion seconds is 31.5 years!
Fortune magazine recently published an article that estimates Putin's net worth at around $200 billion, although some think he's worth much more than that.
Steve Jobs didn’t make the list because by the time Apple’s market cap skyrocketed, he owned only a tiny stake in the company. He sold most of his shares in the 80s after being ousted.
@@DataIsBeautifulOfficial Yes. And then he drowned his capital in the next "avantgardistic" idea and lost it. That's why he had to creep back to Apple and play along as only CEO and not as owner.
Wow. Now here is my question: could there be wealthier people than the ones on this list that we don't know about? Like, so wealthy they can keep their names off of everything?
@DataIsBeautifulOfficial if somehow you could distribute the wealth among the porest 1 billion who rely on a dollar a day or less, they could have 450 dollars each, or about a year and a bits salary worth. He could probably transform the worlds economy this way. It doesnt sound like much to most people but that kind of money buys basic child education in many third world countries.
Musk has said he sees his fortune as basically a war chest for colonizing other planets, especially Mars. Larry Page of Google has said he'd consider donating his multi-billion dollar fortune to Musk if he can follow through on his colonization plans.
What about equity and other non liquid networth like real estate and other assets? Royal families? Rotschild's, Rockefeller's and other business dynasties? Satoshi?
Real estate and other assets are included in the data, as are equity stakes in companies. Royal families are excluded because their assets are typically not tracked. Rockefeller and similar dynasties are only included if their private funds have disclosed the relevant information. As for Satoshi, their wealth remains speculative and untapped.
Then Putin, or Emirate royalty would be present. Musk is the richest only on paper with his shares of TSLA. Putin might be the real richest man in the world with all his unregistered assets, along with the emirates.
