    The more common usual way to explain why people tolerate higher taxation is that people can see how the collected funds are used to benefit themselves directly or the society in general, which indirectly benefits all living in the society.
    It doesn't mean that there wouldn't be different views of priorities and what should be funded or provided by public funds and what shouldn't. But mostly the political dialogue is about the ways to achieve common goals and not so much questioning keeping those goals and values. You used expression well established. Perhaps you used it to mean that there is very wide support in the society and political parties to "leave nobody behind" at the basic principle level.

    1. Those 99% must have moved to high-income areas. The low-income areas are not that safe, due to unlimited immigration.
    2. Yea yea, work-life balance is OK here. If you have work. Which is far from certain.
    3. Nothing to add.
    4. The healthy way of living may be true, in smaller communities far from big cities, but it's not universal.
    5. The education... it has sunken pretty low because of... you guessed it: immigration from countries where reading is a hobby for just a few.
    6. Nothing to add. What she said is about right.
    7. She said it: this is a small country with just a few people; of course we have less commuting problems!
    8. Social security is nice to have but it also is very expensive to keep. That's a problem we have.
    9. The happiest country? Why are we near to the top in suicide statistics then?
    10. Good luck with that.

      @couple_of_expats  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your valuable feedback! We'll definitely consider it as we plan our future videos. In the meantime, t's worth noting that many universities in Finland offer PhD studies in English. While the program typically takes around 4 years to complete, which includes research and teaching practice, it's important to note that funding for the entire duration of the program is not always available. As a result, many students/researchers have to work part-time or actively seek funding from external sources, which can prolong the completion of their PhD. For more information, you can check the websites of individual universities for their PhD programs in Finland.

      Unfortunately, we are not aware of any comprehensive lists of scholarship opportunities. However, there are steps you can take to find scholarship opportunities that may be relevant to you. One approach is to research the degree programs that interest you and the institutions that offer them. Many higher education institutions have information about scholarships on their websites, and you may also be able to find information by contacting the institutions directly.

    • @couple_of_expats
      @couple_of_expats  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, language barrier is an issue that many internationals face in Finland. The majority of the population speaks Finnish, which can make it difficult for those who do not speak the local language to navigate daily life and fully integrate into society. However, many Finns speak English, so it is possible to get by only using English on daily basis. It gets more challenging in the working life, where knowing the local language is often a strick requirement for finding a job.

    Can we find our tuition fee after coming to Finland as a family?

    • @couple_of_expats
      @couple_of_expats  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In general, students are expected to pay tuition fees prior to starting their studies in Finland. However, it may be possible to work part-time or full-time to save up for these fees (though it may take some years). In Finland, it can be challenging due to the competitive job market and the requirement for fluency in Finnish for many jobs. To gain a more detailed understanding of tuition fees and financial aid options for international students, we recommend you contact the universities of interest directly and inquire about their policies and procedures.

      How is the job availability in Helsinki for international students?

    • @couple_of_expats
      @couple_of_expats  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sugandimashiron6029 The job market for international students in Helsinki can be competitive (just like in any other Finnish city), as it depends on factors such as the field of study, skillset, and prior knowledge and working experience. However, there are a many international companies based in Helsinki that welcome international talent even without Finnish skills. Additionally, many universities and organisations in the city provide resources and support to assist international students in their job search. To increase the chances of finding a good job, it is important to research the job market for your specific field, network, and utilize the resources available to you. So, in short, finding a job is possible, though it is never easy.

    • @couple_of_expats

      Learning Finnish is not a requirement for moving to Finland. Many internationals who come to Finland for the first time do not speak the local language, and this is no problem at all. However, those who plan to stay in Finland after their graduation may benefit from learning Finnish, as it can help them better integrate into the country and increase their chances of finding a job.
