    The issue with your drive belt is that none of these belts are designed to be bent in an inward direction when the natural curve of the belt is an outward curve. We have issues with this on some of our quarry equipment here in NZ. The ideal way to solve this is to look to see if there is room for the tensioner to be placed so that the tension is being applied in an outward direction thereby keeping within the belts natural loading characteristics.

    In Texas we leave the stubble standing to catch our snow. This will maintain or increase our subsoil moisture.
    The longer the stubble stays around the better. Strip tilling a place to plant is very popular.

    Harry, change the belt before next harvest, you have been lucky. I know they want to sell you a belt. But, if it goes middle of next Harvest.... More cost, weather changes, crop is uncut, drops in price. They missed the bearing, so might do a great deal on the belt. Great videos, you tell us how it is.

    Great to watch a team in action and takes me back to my young self.
    It's more than 30 years since I had any involvement in farming and I know everything has changed, probably several times, since then. My question, given the weather this July and August, is how much has been spent on drying cereals, compared with recent years?

  • @jentjeb2370
    @jentjeb2370 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    As always a very nice video. One remark: drying the wheat might be best at night. Yes, the relative humidity is high, but at a low outdoor temperature the total amount of water is low. When you use this air for drying it warms up in the wheat, thus lowering the relative humidity a lot and thus the air could pull a lot of water from the wheat.

    Borage was the bane of my life some years ago. Took on an allotment that had been uncultivated for some time and without the use of weedkillers it took several years of repeated digging and removing to get rid of the stuff! Some years later the odd patch still used to pop up! Nice cucumber fragrance though.

    Well done on the harvest Harry, what a relief! On the farm we live on they’ve managed to get the five fields of wheat harvested this week and it seems like quite a good yield despite the crop which had been flattened by the wind and rain! We’re are surrounded by fields of round bales now which I guess will be moved presently. The Gran Turismo is a strange looking car, shame they don’t do an ice version, lol. Any more bike videos coming up, got my eye on a KTM 890 adventure, very tempted 😀👍🏍

    The incorporator looked like it could do with a toothed scraper. One used to be able to buy a plastic blade which fitted between the sprockets on a bike. This was useful especially on a mountain bike to keep the crud from building. I imagine a similar device might work for your wheels so they keep clean as they go. Just a thought and great to see things have gone well for you. Bee interesting to see whats in the wildflower field.
