"The Curse of the Crying Boy Painting" is an urban legend from the 1980s involving a series of mysterious house fires across England. Homes displaying the painting of a crying boy would often burn down, but the painting itself always remained unscathed. Firefighters even began to warn people against keeping the painting. Despite various attempts to destroy it, the painting seemed resistant to flames, and unsettling occurrences, such as hearing a child sobbing, were reported. Many believe the painting carries a curse.
