Honestly I found Marianne and Vivek to be very well intended. Ideally this is how people with different viewpoints should argue. I loved it when Marianne agreed to Vivek at 8:49 and at then Vivek pointing out that it is a complicated issue anyway. Very respectful. If we really want our intellect to progress, we HAVE to keep our ego aside.

How many of those who listen to his visions and commitment to the People of America, can disagree with me on Vivek Ramaswamy?
God picks and uses an unthinkable person, Vivek, who is not afraid to say his faith in Hindu, for reasons that we cannot comprehend. We should not vote Trump just because what Trump accomplished. God removed Trump and allowed Joe Biden for God's reasons. We wouldn't have learned of Bidens sell-out of America to CCP. Sure we the GOP were very sad with the election outcomes and could not comprehend why God did that.
We must use our discernment to choose a GOP presidential candidate. Vivek Ramaswamy is about a half of Trump's age yet his intellectual level, energy, commitment, surpasses Trump's. I foresee Vivek sits at an international diplomatic stage, looks straight in eyes with no fear, and draws hearts of free world leaders to aid Vivek's efforts in defeating the power of our enemies. Vivek's ways of approach will bring greater causes than Trump ever did. Arise, Vivek.

One thing to remember is the insurance/Healthcare provider interaction. The "$15000 for a hip replacement" is generally a fake number from the hospital demanded by the insurance companies so they can claim they had to pay $15000 while only paying $1000. Then they can pocket the other $14000 while still not touching into their profit limits. This is where a lot of that "only 11 billion in profit" comes from. They are making WAY more profit than that, but they don't have to claim most of it as profit, because they get to claim they are paying a fake price.

Insurers definitely pay a negotiated price to hospitals, but there's no magic money that gets "pocketed". Premiums - expenses = profit.

When things first shut down, every state's unemployment system was overrun. ALL of them had issues, some with capacity (systems were designed with hard maximums of "users"), some with just about everything you can think of.
In order to efficiently and effectively have dealt with this situation the groundwork already needs to be in place. You can slap in some more servers, hire some more teleworkers, etc but you need to be ready for scaling.
In terms of supporting businesses who were forced to close their doors, there really wasn't any infrastructure to see into the situation let alone provide direct assistance. States are underfunded and you have to be willing to invest a bit more to make existing systems flexible enough to respond to emergencies.
I don't want to live in China, but their single very-hard handed system lets them "just do it" when it needs to get done. Our system.. totally inept. Businesses had to go to banks for PPP. Businesses who didn't have strong relationships with bigger banks had no shot :(. No one had even bothered to figure out how to addresses businesses in a big emergency like a pandemic.

Cost for doctors visit - $0, cost for surgery - $0, cost to visit any specialist - $0, cost for cancer treatment - $0, cost for hospitalization - $0. You will have free healthcare. Prescription drugs would become more reasonable when govt negotiates drug prices to reasonable levels. This would have an overall implication in taxes Americans pay. You would see a genuine 3% increase in income taxes for individuals (where higher your income, more % you pay towards healthcare, can be capped at some amount) and a 4% increase in wages corporate taxes called employee health insurance tax. This is a fantastic deal in the long run, considering you wouldn't need to pay for your health from your own pockets and weakens the role of insurance companies significantly.

What to me, as an European, is one of the strangest aspects of the American discussion about the health care system is how little reference is made to the health care systems of other countries. Here in Europe, we have a wide range of different health care systems, almost all of which work better than the U.S. system. There is something for everyone, from completely government-run to those that are based on private insurance at their core. In the U.S., problems are constantly being discussed for which other countries have long since shown the workable solution.

Between the FUD mathmatics (like what Bill read about %80 taxes), to comparisons of populations and, my favourite, that "that country has a more homogenous population" (which is basically saying if we didn't have all these ____ people here), most people don't have any idea how any other system works. Most people don't know how it worked in the US 25 years ago or that the system was massively changed as recently as Nixon.
The constant cheer of "we're #1" is somehow more important than people getting healthcare in this country :(. Sadly, I think we'd rather keep claiming we are the best than actually (even remotely) *being* the best.
There are subtle shifts. I live in Maryland where the state has normalized hospital pricing and hospitals are rewarded for outcomes. It's a critical step towards single-payer insurance and it does take some time (10-15 years in Maryland). That has led to more efficiency in the system (skipping out on some "filler" procedures) and lower costs for important/effective treatments. It also means when the hospital can't do anything more for you, they get you out *that day*. They get you out to a nursing care facility or send you home, but that's part of the increased efficiency (just seems harsh).
I think most people just know high insurance rates, super-high deductibles, and commercials on TV that say that if Medicare gets to negotiate drug prices, no more new drugs will be developed (aka Wall Street will take it's ball and go home and we'll be like.. *before* big pharma :/ ). There's a lot of crap commercials making people terrified that our horrible situation could actually become worse.

While we're talking about stopping the gouging, please note 1) Medicare/Medicaid already negotiate with hospitals and other medical services for much better rates than hospitals charge direct to patients -- and in many cases private insurance -- and 2) please note that the BBB plan finally allowed Medicare to negotiate the prices of the most common prescription drugs and cover hearing aids. But guess who nixed that? Finally, please look up administrative costs of Medicaid and Medicare. Way cheaper than private insurance. So, I know there's this increasing loud complaint from Bill and panelists about how inefficient government is and while that's true for many things, please see the examples where government is doing a pretty damn good job. And could do an even better job, if there weren't certain groups purposely trying to sabotage them and then using the results of purposeful sabotage as evidence of government inefficiency. Sorry, if so-called "liberal" California actually caters to the wealthy, because the wealthy are the one who can actually afford to live there, because rich people drive up the prices and shape policy; but please don't over-rely on California as the example of when liberals rule. Please check out imperfect states like Massachusetts, who have some pretty neat social policies in place, and have such awesome outcomes that they get to have their data separated out from the rest of the U.S. in global data.

For others who may not be aware, the states actually administer the program. The federal side provides the funding, but the individual states handle the actual side that patients see. So, if your state sucked at delivering Medicaid services, then it's your state, run by people you elected. Not the federal side. Again, the two states my family received Medicaid services, it worked pretty well. Seeing a specialist was never a problem. Just needed to find the right fit for a complicated case, which would've been the same with private insurance. (The only way to really get around that is to be wealthy and NOT need any insurance. Then, when you're totally loaded, the world is your oyster.) You want to help healthcare in America? You need to divorce the marriage between employers and health insurance.
The entire point of the free market is to allow the consumer to pick and choose which product or service they want. That way only the good products receive money and the bad products failed and are weeded out.
But with the way the insurance system is set up right now, the employees (the customers and the end-users) aren't buying the product. The employer is buying the product, and they don't give a shit how good it is or not.
If we separate the two, you'll receive more income, and you'll be able to shop around and choose which insurance you want specifically for your needs. The insurance that provides the best service will receive more money, and the market will follow suit.
It is how every single other private health insurance market works across the world.

It doesn't matter which system you employ, corruption will stuff it up if it's left to thrive.
The first goal of any system of social regulation is to do it's best to eliminate corruption in all it's various forms. If you don't do that, you loose in every arena.
Until that is the priority and practical measures are taken to minimise corruption, the system will always benefit the corrupt over the general population. You will also be training that population that cheating is the best way to win.

You can literally trace the corruption all the way back to when the failed #warondrugs began. Perhaps a little further with #alcohol #prohibition. Remember you *NEEDED* a doctor's Rx to get your liquor back then. People were self medicating then, and they are still doing it today. You can't legislate human behavior this way. Now we just have wasted $1,000,000,000 filling prisons full of non-violent drug offenders, and addicts dying in the streets due to the doctors refusing to write them Rx's for medications out of fear of being nailed by the DEA, so they get street drugs laced with fentanyl and die. This happened with alcohol during prohibition as well, the government tainted alcohol on purpose to "deter" it's use and people still drank it and died. #theplantswon #thewarondrugs #endit

You can trace the origins of corruption in all arenas of law, government and business to the foundation of civilisation itself. The problem is not that it occurs in any particular area, it's that it's possible in all areas.
Until you change a culture in which corruption is lauded, you won't be able to pursue systemic counter measures to corruption and everyone has to suffer the consequences.
