    This area is my favorite part of Nebraska. I lived my entire life, until retirement a couple of years ago, just west of Lincoln on the opposite side of the state. But I loved vacationing "out west." The Panhandle and the Sandhills are magical with the unique landscape and the lack of overpopulation. Thank you for such a beautiful video of this area.

    Great review of the area, Marc.
    This has to be one the nicest places in Nebraska. And the three RV parks you shared, all looked great.
    The thing the struck me the most was the desert scape of the Scotts Bluffs contrasting against the verdant lowlands. You never tend to see that combination together.🤔👍
    Gord

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those Nebraska lowlands must be especially verdant in spring, too, when even the natural grasses would be more green than they are now. In addition, you get to see that juxtaposition just about anywhere the lowlands are irrigated and farmed -- especially with alfalfa in the West, because it's such deep, dark green that makes a stunning foreground for the red rock in many parts of Utah.

    • @gorrdd

      @@GrandAdventure There's allot of barrenness in much of Utah. You indicated the western side of Utah is more verdant with cultivated fields.
      I looked at Google Maps and it seems to show vegetation running from the eastern side of the panhandle down, more or less, the center of Utah.
      The rest looks pretty parched.
      Gord

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gorrdd That's either a misunderstanding, or I misled you. The western side of Utah is mostly desert. Much of the rest of the state has cultivated lowlands.

    All the best wishes for Zoe. Went through the same thing with our Yellow Lab. She was diagnosed around 9 years old. Unfortunaltey insulin typically causes cataracts in dogs and they go blind in 9-12 months. Didn't slow our Lucy down though. You would never know she was blind except if you moved the furniture. She lived to 14 years old with twice daily insulin shots and was a happy dog up until the last day of her life. I guess we are suckers for punishment. We now have two Chocolate Labs, 2 and 4 years old. Lots of fun!

      @GrandAdventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well Tom, that's a start. I suspect that you'll return some day with a little more time. With only one afternoon available, drive up onto the Bluff and take a walk out to either the North or South Bluff from the parking lot on top. Take a quick cruise through the visitor center museum, for that won't take long at all. Then, right nearby drive through Mitchell Pass, but try to do it west to east; otherwise, the best views will be in your rearview mirror. Finally, if you want to eat out that night, by all means choose the Tangled Tumbleweed in downtown Scottsbluff. My sauteed soft shell crab served atop a cheese risotto was out of this world. It's a tapas-style menu, and prices are quite reasonable.

    Hopefully the vet didn't spare you the Awful Truth that Zoe is at least 40 pounds overweight. Love you Guido and your videos but you got to get her in shape. Especially with labs you can't free feed them because they'll eat as much as they can consume. It's the reason she has diabetes.
    My 11 year old male black lab eats 4 cups of food a day since he was a year old. He is trim and fit. You can definitely kill em with kindness.

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      We do free feed Robert, but she just occasionally picks through maybe a cup or two a day. She's 60 lb and in her best shape ever. Her mother was shaped like a tank, and she got her mom's good looks. 😄 She's getting anywhere from 9,000 to 40,000 steps per day, so there's no shortage of exercise.

    • @The-Bankster
      @The-Bankster ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @GrandAdventure good deal. You got the exercise part down, now you just have to feed her a measured amount of food everyday. Buddy gets 2 cups in the morning and 2 cups in the evening. You probably already know not to pay any attention to what it says on the bag, because they'd have you feeding 5 lb of food to your dog a day. Not trying to be harsh here, but Zoe is a very important part of your videos. She's got a great life just like my boy!

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@The-Bankster she actually eats far less than Buddy, a cup or two total daily. A normal-sized bowl typically lasts Zoe around 3 days, and if she was 40 lb overweight she'd actually tip the scales at only 20 lb. I sincerely appreciate your input, but after nearly 9 years of free-feeding there's no going to scheduled meal times now, either. I had asked the vet about changing diet or even eliminating free-feeding, and was advised to do neither.
