What about Tom Stoppard? He wrote the play Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead, adapted it for the screen and directed it. Of course it wasn't ever a novel....
I'm gonna go see it at the theatre this weekend before it goes on DVD. I was in high school from the fall of 1989 to spring of 1993 (graduated) so this should bring back the nostagia these guys are talking about because I was the same age as these kids were in the same period as the movie. can't wait to see it!!! cherrios.
I know what you mean. I just watched it two days ago and I cant stop thinking about it. One of my all time favorites and I really don't know why. I just loved it.
I was really excited to see this movie, everyone I talked to said they loved it. After I watched it , I didn't like it. I don't know exactly why but I didn't. I wouldn't watch it again
King also remade "The Shining", in the process proving why he should leave film making to film makers, like the brilliant Stanley Kubrick. I think the difference is that the ones they listed 'get' both film and writing as separate art media that each have their own limitations to be respected.
I saw this movie last night, and one of the things I love the most is the fact that it treats it's characters like real teenagers, and not like adults the way Gossip Girl for example does, so you can really relate to them. Also I don't see Emma Watson just like Hermione anymore, and Ezra Miller is fucking awesome!!
I haven't seen the movie but...I dunno I just have the inkling feeling that as good as it looks its gonna be one of those movies that makes beig a misfit seem kinda fun and cool and quirky when its juts not. Real highschool misfits (I should know, I was one! X-D) NEVER get invited to parties, spend most of their weekends alone, keep most of their witty banter to themselevs because theres no-one around to appreciate it and certainly are nowhere near as attractive as any of the leads in this!
Frank Miller codirected the screen adaption of his comic book series Sin City with Robert Rodriugez and used the comics themselves instead of a screenplay.
My favorite coming of age films are Stand By Me, The Breakfast Club, and The Way, Way Back. It seemed like the author didn't actually care deeply about kids like Charlie. It seemed like he was writing about the situations he was writing about, purely for the sake of being edgy.
it really does not meen a thing how attractive you are to whether you are a wallflower or not what a stupid comment that really is!!, theres nothing wrong with being a wallflower 9/10 times a wallflower is just an introvert, they think alot ,they dont seem to feel the same as everyone else but in actuality they just dont realise that most people are the same but they just pretend and act differently
I just came to see if Alonzo liked this movie or not after watching how he basically destroyed Me, Earl and the Dying Girl. I can't believe he fucking liked this shit.
This is my favorite movie, made me cry.
This is my breakfast club.
Luckily, this is way better.
@@widM_ calm down
@@daftbanna7202 what made you suspect i'm not calm?
@@widM_ breakfast club is better
@@daftbanna7202 yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
One of my favorite films of all time.
"We accept the love we think we deserve..." - one of the deepest truths you'll ever hear in a movie script
Antonio Skármeta directed BURNING PATIENCE in 1983 and published the novel in 1985. (It was later remade by Michael Radford as IL POSTINO.)
We are infinite :)
What about Tom Stoppard? He wrote the play Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead, adapted it for the screen and directed it. Of course it wasn't ever a novel....
The guy who wrote Deliverance also wrote the screenplay for the movie. And appeared in it.
"70 percent-ish, so we're a little higher than the tomato world..." I thought this movie had close to 90% on Rotten Tomatoes?
Clive Barker adapted his own story to make the film Hellraiser. You guys missed that one, haha.
I'm gonna go see it at the theatre this weekend before it goes on DVD. Stephen King wrote and directed Maximum Overdrive, adapted from his own story 'Trucks'...Not surprised you guys didn't remember it :P
Seth Grahame-Smith adapted his own 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' to screen. Though, it didn't turn out well.
I read the novel when I was a kid and loved it. I then reread the novel as an adult and hated it. Will I hate the movie now that I'm grown up?
So, which Bowie song is it?
Another example of the written word to film is Tom Stoppard doing both versions of "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead."
I just watched this movie. I am speechless. I absolutely LOVED this movie!
I know what you mean. I just watched it two days ago and I cant stop thinking about it. One of my all time favorites and I really don't know why. I just loved it.
it was the triple threat they were looking for: written, adapted and directed by.
Timur Bekmambetov directed Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
7.8???? wtf! This movie is a HARD 10! DEFINITELY top 10 best movies of this generation! Beautifully shot & one of my faves!
Josie Jay it’s a ♾/10
Does Frank Miller and 300 count?
I have to agree; she just didn't work for me. I can't put my finger on why either. And I'm not sure who I'd prefer to play Sam.
I was really excited to see this movie, everyone I talked to said they loved it. After I watched it , I didn't like it. I don't know exactly why but I didn't. I wouldn't watch it again
Johnny got his gun was written and directed by Dalton Trumbo

What the hell kind of crap do you guys call subtitles? And no criticism for the movie? None? And you gave a 75 and 81?
Neil LaBute adapted his own play for the film "The Shape of Things" starring Paul Rudd

Lady: haha there's not many...

*It didn't seem like the author of Perks Of Being A Wallflower wrote about the situations he wrote about because he cared about kids like Charlie

John Irving won a Academy Award for adapting The Cider House Rules for the big screen.
I wasn't expecting everyone to be so positive about this movie! especially you guys :D definitely going to see it now
Wait, did i miss something or did she only take two numbers?
Good review, I did click on your stuff and just subscribed to your podcast Alonso (linoleum-knife)
I really liked the book but I can't help but cringe at the trailer. I'll go see it and hope for the best!
I like this movie because you get a feeling after watching it and I'm still thinking about it I loved it 9.5
Ethan Hawke, "The Hottest State". Michael Crichton, "The Great Train Robbery".
It's my favorite movie!!
Frank Miller codirected the screen adaption of his comic book series Sin City with Robert Rodriugez and used the comics themselves instead of a screenplay.
so did you eat the basket?
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
Where's Ben at??
Agreed. In fact I knew many conventionally attractive people growing up who could be considered wallflowers.
My favorite coming of age films are Stand By Me, The Breakfast Club, and The Way, Way Back. It seemed like the author didn't actually care deeply about kids like Charlie. It seemed like he was writing about the situations he was writing about, purely for the sake of being edgy.
I loved this book, is it really good?
In case you haven’t seen it in the last ten years, yeah, it’s fantastic.
"Let the Right One In" John Ajvide Lindqvist
I had an english teacher just like Rudd in junior year.
I read the book and looked forward to the movie so much... and it NEVER came to my city :(
Gah! I cannot stop looking at the table and thinking. Damn... That looks like a stake . . . I gotta get me some stake.
I disagree, I say give it a 9. It's one of my new favorite movies, I honestly don't know why either, it just rang with me in a certain way I guess.
it really does not meen a thing how attractive you are to whether you are a wallflower or not what a stupid comment that really is!!, theres nothing wrong with being a wallflower 9/10 times a wallflower is just an introvert, they think alot ,they dont seem to feel the same as everyone else but in actuality they just dont realise that most people are the same but they just pretend and act differently
This movie is a perfect ten! It's just as good as the book!
I just came to see if Alonzo liked this movie or not after watching how he basically destroyed Me, Earl and the Dying Girl. I can't believe he fucking liked this shit.
Bruce Wayne go fuck yourself
Paesito Paez, in the eternal words of the dude "well... that's like... your opinion, man."

William Goldman's Princess Bride
Alan Smithee
That last remark lol ^^
I definitely had that english teacher in high school
Why do you want a stake? Are you trying to kill a vampire? Would you prefer a steak?
There're two "e"s in "Steak"
This is an excellent film. Profound touching and nostalgic
I had a cool English teacher in High School.

Holy crap Christie is so goddamn hot in this.

Rotten Tomatoes rating is now 86% for critics... so technically, your average was lower, lol.
He didn't direct tho'. Apologies.

But yeah, hah!
wow great review
steak? stakes are for vampires
I love Emma Watson, but she does not fit the role of Sam.
@GFWBCK
i cant believe i sat through this whole movie. It was so fucking blah
I'm surprised WTF gave Degrassi: The Movie such a high rating. Seriously its like they took a shitty CW show and tried to make it edgy.
I'm awesome
STEAK.
I like Matt Atchity. Glad to see him get a look-in, Christy and Alonso can kindof get together and leave everyone else out, as good as they are.
