Very much enjoyed this vid Jeff … exploring can be very tiring, but rewarding. The sound of silence…… very rewarding! Nice

You got that right! specially on a lake I've never fished before and had very little ideas of where to begin looking. Luckily the few locals that were out there were very accomodating and helpful!

So having worked on highways the closed rest stop is the closed rest stop. The shitters aren't open and the parking lot is not plowed during the winter. You will see these signs at various rest stops throughout the province that are not adjacent to a lake. Most provincial parks are accessible in winter even though the park itself is closed. I have fished Esker Lakes year round. Great place to camp and portage. Stocked trout lakes are open year round since stocked trout do not reproduce. Liked your vid.

Yea exactly. It was the same with this one. Even if the concrete barriers weren't there vlocming the parking lot, there was so much snow plowed up in front. I could have parked on the side of the highway, but it was slowing pretty good that day and the plows were going back and forth on hwy 7. Didn't want to risk getting towed or worse, a plow throwing snow all over the side of my truck causing damage.
Thanks for watching the video, I'm super happy you liked it!

In that case I would of done the same. I know people whose vehicles have been side swiped by plow. If you sled also head up to Kirkland Lake/New Liskeard area. Great trails and fishing. My hometown. Esker Lakes PP is a gem. One of a few lakes in ontario with Aurora trout is at the entrance to the park. If I am not mistaken that Lake is open every second year for two months. I have never fished it myself but the rest of the park yes. Brooke, Splake and Lakers.

Loved watching this, Jeff! You sure did have a bit of a journey to get to the lake but worth it! Great ice fishing adventures!

Looked like a decent day on the ice dude. Fun video. That hut looks super mint too - the big windows and rod holders are sweet on the Otters.

My buddy fished there two weeks ago. Friend has cottage on lake and they caught lots. Most small but a couple decent.

It is a beautiful, deep lake! I didn't catch anything bigger than what you saw in the video, but I had a fun time none the less!

Hey man! I live around a 4 minute bike from a nice fishing spot my brother showed me once in CT. I was wondering if I can legally fish there and I’m under 16 so can I catch something? It’s a pretty known spot.

If by "CT" you are referring to Connecticut, I am unfamiliar with the fishing regulations in your state. My advice would be to head over to your states website, portal.ct.gov/DEEP/Fishing/Regulations/Fishing-Regulations and have a good read through them. You will more than likely find the answer to your question there.

@@jeffdicks Thanks for the reply. I ended up checking it online and you need to be present with someone with a permit for the location. My friend has a permit so I'll go with him.
