    I feel you have the reason for an arch representation of fish wrong. The arch is created when the scan by sonar of a fish changes distance as the fish moves through the sonar cone. The sonar return in its raw state is processed, enhanced before it is shown on the screen. It is again processed if the operator selects to display fish icons. Humminbird usually has great mathematicians and software engineers, many times from Georgia Tech.

    So if I have a military ID I don’t need a fishing license ?? Is that valid in every state?

    • @jeffdicks
      @jeffdicks หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is a policy for fishing regulations in Ontario, Canada. Residents of Ontario that have their NDI20 or NDI75 do not need to purchase an outdoors card or fishing license to fish here. Non-ontario residents, military, veteran or otherwise still have to buy them. I'm not familiar with the different state regulations for the United States. Your best bet is to look up the regs for whatever state your in.

    Nice review. I've tried a number of cheap to mid-range inflatable kayaks over years for their portability and ease of storage. My complaints were always low, uncomfortable seating with no back support on spongy inflatable seats. That coupled with thick side tubes led me (6'1") to feel like I was paddling at shoulder level. Then the spongy floor and instability just led to uncomfortable boating and very inconvenient fishing. The Kuda seems to have solved all these issues. Think 10.6 is way to go to keep it portable. List price is way too high. This is not the same quality as their high-end whitewater rafts. But on the sales I've heard/seen of $675-750 it seems reasonable.

      Neither of them is "better" than the other. They are, for the most part identical with the only difference being the design of the floatation on the back. For me, the Raku suited my needs better with the full back design than the Chinook's half back. It's all about your preference!

    I'm buying one of these since they're on sale right now on NRS' site. They do not come with a paddle. I will need to buy a paddle and would like to get a nice paddle. These are rather wide kayaks, what size paddle are you using in the video? I'm 5'11" and have pretty wide shoulders with long arms and want to get a paddle that will comfortably clear the sides of the boat.

    • @jeffdicks
      @jeffdicks 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have a Bending Branches Angler Pro 240cm adjustable paddle. I'm 5,'9" with pretty wide shoulders too. Highly recommend. Light, super tough and a breeze to paddle with. Pairs perfectly with a light a portable setup like the Kuda106 or 126.

    This is a great knot, but the line crosses over the cut in the wire on the eye of the hook causing it to break on hook sets or snags at random. Why can't a hook manufacturer simply extend the wire of the eye down the shank a few millimeters so that that part of the knot lays against smooth wire not the cut of the eye? They could even taper it. It would only have extend a few millimeters. You could probably get away without having a weld in there as long as it layed tight against the shank. Problem solved, no more messing around with the unpredictable polymer knot. Just my 2 cents.

    • @jeffdicks
      @jeffdicks 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's true, you dk have to be careful when cinching it down or you will get one line over the eyelet. The new VMC Redline hooks are actually exactly like what you said we need. Specifically the dropshot versions. They have a resin coat over the eyelet where the loop meets the shank of the hook and protects the line from those sharp edges. Very forgiving hooks to use for that reason alone, but VMC hooks in general are just very good quality too, the Redline lineup are just on another level

    • @jeffsmith9047
      @jeffsmith9047 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I agree with you, but the line needs to sit tight right at the bottom of the loop of the eye so that they don't slip over it. Will that drop of plastic allow it to? I've never used this hook so I don't know. I think extending the wire and even tapering it might not be a bad idea, as long as the edges of the taper are smooth. Again, I love this knot, but that seems to be the only weakness and seems to happen more with larger hooks. I've had it happen with a fresh rig on the first hook set. I've also fished all day with it and had no problems. I use 10lb red label.

    • @jeffdicks
      @jeffdicks 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jeffsmith9047 yes, the resin drop on the VMC Redline hooks completely covers the eyelet where it meets the hook shank. I highly recommend trying them! www.rapala.ca/ca_en/rsds-redline-series-drop-shot

    • @jeffsmith9047
      @jeffsmith9047 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'll definitely check them out. Thank you sir.

    • @jeffsmith9047
      @jeffsmith9047 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Got the hooks today. I tied the knot with 6lb test then with 10, the lines that run under the eye slip over it now because of the resin, It will stand straight out but now the hook can move up or down and stay either way. Without that dab of resin the knot will sit low on the eye like it needs to and the cross lines will sit snug against the bottom of the eye. My idea of extending the wire down the shank a bit more with a taper would be way better. The eye could be a little more round to keep the cross lines under it too. The lines under the eye are the one of the reasons this knot works so good. It's just the cut in the wire the ruins it.

    Probably a dumb question. If I’m a non resident and fishing within a single BMZ I cannot catch and use my own bait?? I must buy it?

    • @jeffdicks
      @jeffdicks 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The regulations state, "Anglers are only permitted to personally harvest baitfish and leeches in the BMZ where their primary residence is located". If you are a non resident of Ontario, then I would read that as you are not permitted to catch your own live bait and you have to purchase it. There is a stipulation about bait caught in the great lakes, but to be absolutely sure, I recommend reaching out to the ministry to get the answer from them.

    For "un-chlorinated" water you can use distilled water (available in the grocery store next to regular water) or you can also use carbon-filtered tap water (like a Brita). The problem with chlorine is it's highly reactive and will easily form sodium chloride, which isn't toxic but would reduce the process of electrolysis of brine from the salt solution. So if you have no choice to use water with chlorine, just know that it'll take longer than 24 hours in the fridge. Thanks Jeff!

    I love this kayak and use mine all the time. The only downside to having an inflatable is that you have to be careful when landing spikey fish like bluegill. At some point they will put a tiny tiny hole into the unprotected portion of the deck with their fins if you drop them or land them on the deck. Keep them in a net off to the side and you never have to worry about this. But that is the downside of any fishing inflatable. Not just this one. Kuda is my second favorite kayak and my favorite portable kayak.
