  • Well, we're finished the Ambassador so let's go for a drive! Hope you guys enjoyed a look at this fine AMC flagship from the golden age of American car design.
I love this car... rare, pretty, great engine, lovely condition. Sounds cool, lots of power. Too bad it's winter and I hardly got to drive it! We shot this little video on the last nice day we got in October sometime...
Anyway, thanks again to everyone who subscribed and for all of your likes and comments! Next project(s) already underway, so lots more updates coming soon!
All the best from me and Stella and Francine and all the dudes who help out on these cars and videos just for laughs.
Also: Thanks to Free Drum Tracks channel here on YT for the drum track at the beginning... The poor reproduction quality here is all my doing... I have no recording equipment so I can only record whatever will fit into the "voice memo" thing on my phone... in this case the drums playing on the computer speakers and me playing the bass through a 5 watt guitar amp on the other side of the room. Good stuff, haha...
    Cheers!

Fiberglass headliner and nylon upholstery was bulletproof. Dad's 67 was gold with tan vinyl top. Loved that car.

I was 20 years old in 1967 and I am sorry to say I would not have paid much attention to that car then. Looking at it now, I see it for the really pretty and tasteful vehicle it always has been. Thanks for saving it and sharing it with us. Paul.

Look at all the detail of this car, new cars are globs of cheap plastic! This 1967 is a beauty ,Ambassadors were underrated they are very sharp and well built cars.

I is a very good looking car. I'd call it a luxury car. My grandfather was partial to AMC and owned a very nice Ambassador wagon of about the same vintage. The interior was very plush and comfortable. Great choice of a car to preserve.

Your wonderful attitude about the aesthetics of old cars shows in what you do in all your videos. It was especially nice to hear you talk at some length in this one, to describe what you appreciate about vintage autos using this AMC as a focus. Love your stuff!

It's great to see two old warriors of the late sixties, especially of those you would normally consider "muscle car" running down the road together and looking so great knowing that you've had your artistic hands on both of them just makes it that much better. I can imangine both of these cars being rivals of each other when piloted by some over zealous teenagers trying to impress their girlfriend's, mutual friends and ultimately, themselves.

Your love of AMC is infectious. Just bought two ugly, lovable 80's Cherokee's. AMC's original intent set the US to loving SUV's. Not in the same class as your Ambassador obviously. For where we live they are important. We all have you to thank for saving so much of the old iron. Now priceless because of their age. Great narration by the way.

The dash layout on our '68 was identical. On our '68 DPL, the parking lights were mounted on the front bumper. There was a top-of-the-line SST, whose parking lights were mounted exactly where they are on this '67. I tell you, this beauty is really tugging at the heartstrings!

Well, it was their own fault. The AMC Rogue was V-8 2 bbl. 260. Keep in mind it was 1967 the Javelin and AMX hadn't been introduced yet. Also, Rambler/AMC was going up against cars like the Mustang, Camaro, Chevelle SS, GTO and the Dodge Coronet RT 426 Hemi . Not to mention the Shelby 427 Cobra, Charger, Mercury Marauder, T-Bird, Corvette, Barracuda and the Torino. PS that's a nice Boss Blue Mustang in your profile.

There's something about this car that seems like a well tailored suit. Not necessarily an expensive suit, it's just made nicely with care taken over the fit and finish. Stylish, rather than fashionable. It's hard to believe the car is fifty years old, and not just because of the condition of it.

    • @noexpensespentstudios
      @noexpensespentstudios 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It's a difficult one to quantify really, modern cars are unarguably better made and finished, they just have to be, and fifty years has seen a lot of improvements. However, they don't feel like they're better, they don't feel special. I can't think of a single modern car in the same category as this that would be anything other than anodyne. I can't think of something that would excite me or feel like a joy to own just as an everyday car. That sort of thing seemed to have died out in the 90s, along with comfort and interiors that aren't black or grey.

Love this series about the AM Ambassador. In 1967, I was only 10, 11 years old and didn't care much for AM cars. Watching this series about the '67 Ambassador, hearing all of your compliments about it, I was nodding my head on agreement with you on everything you said about this car.
No, I'm not a car mechanic, merely a person that maintained my own cars over the years.
I believe that, part of what hurt American Motors in the early 1970's, was build quality. My father owned a '59 AM Rambler American wagon that he bought new. Years later, he bought a '74 AMC Hornet. The Hornet seemed a poorer design and build quality then that '59 he used to say.
I know that you cannot judge cars from decades apart. Different times.
Business has to cut corners to save cost, I get that.. Many companies here in the states did.
I'm not as educated as you are, just giving my opinion and my father's experiance from back in the day.
Your ambassador, is a VERY good example indeed. Styling, thought, and proof of a quality and well thought out car. Plus, everything you said as well.
Somebody took really good care of it, so your efforts to get it back on the road was hopefully painless.
    Enjoy your car!!!!!!!

If i babied it...pure luxury. I bought it modded like that for 21 grand. I sold the motor for profit and put a 401 back in it and i did a light build on it. 375 hp at the wheels.I didnt have the heart to kill it. It runs to this day and it still slays people.lol

I had one as my first car. From ‘76-‘79. 1967 Ambassador DPL, 343-4 barrel, 2 door, coral pink with a white vinyl roof. A pink and purple brocade and vinyl interior with bucket seats. Automatic, called Flashomatic, power steering and brakes, A/C. Only thing wrong was that it was rusted out in the rear fenders. It had great balance and could make Camaro’s and Mustangs eat my dust. If it hadn’t been hit, it might still be around.

Great video. AMC was a really interesting company. They also created arguably the first crossover with the Eagle. You see Ambassadors in so many 70's cop movies. They were everywhere and then no where.

Great job. Glad you like the Ambassador. AMC made some pretty good cars. Another nice one was the 1974 Matador with the 360 engine. Thanks for the videos of this fine car.

We had a 71 Gremlin for awhile....some very good engineering went into that car. It inspired confidence when you got behind the wheel. I drove contemporary offerings like the Vega, the Pinto, the Maverick etc....none of them felt as well put together and thought out to me. That little car was solid.....

Well said about the era. Outside my 2nd story condo. are 7 parking spaces, all full, not one car by the same company but they all look alike........What a shame! Keep up the great work and THANKS!

Beautiful car! I was never an AMC fan but you're right, That year was exceptional. I especially love the stacked headlights since I am a fan of the 65-67 big Fords. You're looks like it rolled off the assembly line with the exception of the mismatched wheels, which clearly give it character. Nice countryside by the way!

The one thing that really sticks out to me are the bumpers. Nice little tuck job from the factory, very nice fit on the car all around. Congratulations, what a score for some paint and body work.

For the first minute and a half I thought it was going to be like a 'High Anxiety' thing where the camera turns to the back seat and there's a drummer and bass player actually rocking out. Mildly disappointed. Thanks for the beautiful eulogy to the model and AMC.

Front-end music @ 0:11....sounds like Dirty Harry "ENFORCER" movie set...from 1967, all you need is Clint Eastwood, your car and you're movie-set ready. I can see Dirty Harry ramming the Ambassador up against a rusty green Chevy Nova with the Nova going off the cliff.

Hi Rick! Thanks for the note! Glad you liked the old Ambassador; I grew to like it more than I thought I would. A real time capsule from the golden age of AMC. All the very best from me and the girls!

That is a sweet looking car going down the road! Like you said in the video, one of the best designed AMC cars for sure. And you provided a very poignant dissertation on AMC, well done. Waiting anxiously for the next project! PS, love that cap you are wearing.

Hey thanks for the note and for the kind words... I wasn't really keen on doing any "talk to the camera"-type stuff, but it seemed a logical way to tie the series up... Next car is already underway; hope you guys like it like i do! Cheers...

I love this car and totally agree that this was probably overlooked and sadly so, I dig the seat upholstery , door panels defiantly 60`s and that so cool. I think your Ambassador is rare and would be very hard to find another in such pristine original condition. I would have to say it`s a keeper for sure. I love your channel, I hope you and all the agents keep doing what you guys are doing , take care, cheers.
