@@ForgeTecGaming I was trying the Easy "Hunting" mission on Openworld easy mode, and set the triangle 3 side wall+hedgehogs with 45° Wood beam. When I'm on the 3rd edge of wood beam(about one story high, The bear keep running away when it HP reach about 20%. but will circle around when I'm on 2nd edge of the wood beam. I wonder will I need to use the spear or jevelin instead...
@@DJsanwit its cause the devs know about the bear pole idea and programmed it to withdraw if it can't find a way to reach you I'd put more poles down and run to top of one so it can chew toy it giving you time to javelin or shotgun it
I just carry 4-5 wood poles on me and plop them down first 2 at an angle and the rest horizontal, usually placed over a boulder node so the animals can’t get directly under me and are easier to line up head shots
thx for the info I actually did a video on that style called out build a bear - this is more for those who want to stand and fight and honestly since the new fortifications are out its a bit dated design but at the time it worked - problem with a game that isn't done yet everything is subject to change
Nice, this will be a massive help! I am new to the game and bears are like Gods currently lol. I've killed a few, a few have killed me! I did a ramp up to a high mountain then destroyed it thinking I was safe and oh was I wrong lmao. They can climb so high on slopes I can't even climb myself!! - Loving this game so much!
yeah bears are all terrain vehicles I'm actually going to do a updated version of this with the new defense walls this coming week and hope to use the new gear like shields to help people learn to deal with bears more easily - also I made a anti bear video with wood beams really super cheap
@@ForgeTecGaming I like the look of the shield but tbh I haven't tried it yet as I mostly try to stay ranged and only go melee as a last resort lol. Have you actually used one against a bear? Is it good. How fast does it break / drain your stamina? I assume it drains stamina. The last death I had on bear was because I ran out of stamina haha. I was over confident because on a mission I wiped a bear out in like 2 hits in melee and successfully dodges it. It was complete reflexes as it came out of no where and I didn't expect it. This got me thinking I can handle bears now :D Next mission was alpha bear so I went into that one thinking yeh I be fine...nope lol. Went back and got him though when he was near water that time so I swam backwards stabbing him lol
@@keblin86 I played with the shield but mostly as a last ditch defense then a primary I use the cave worm knife so I side stepped the bear poked it causing poison damage and 5% slow (it stacks) making it easier to dodge next time it hit me like twice and can confirm its nice but I'm working on a guardian build who should in theory be able to go head to head with a bear IF it works

It's really good but it breaks easily lol and I have to go back to a work bench to repair it lol. I'm mostly doing ok though. Going back on soon, can't wait lol. I'm having trouble with the workshop stuff though, I can't figure out how you use those items. I have only bought the first suit. Do I have to make a new world to be able to use it. So far I have only been able to get it by going to a mission but in my current open world I have no idea how to get it to there and I prefer my open world.
@@keblin86 to get it in open world you get back in dropship and go back into orbit then grab it and come back down - cave worm gear is basically bone level but with poison and the knife counts as iron for animals they are brittle but only need cave worm parts making them great for arrows javelins and such you get them from a mission on Olympus
not really the stone walls don't have 50% weakness to damage that wood does meaning they are pretty tanky so its pretty easy to simply grab a melee or ranged weapon and stand behind the wall using cover as a defense - that said this was before the much more tanky fortifications so I'd probably recommend those to this older design
its actually pretty solid about it but its kind of old video since when I made this the skinning bench was bad and now its pretty good have been thinking of making a new farming based with the wooden defense walls and a enzyme geyser video and I'd recommend those with the spike upgrades and a repair hammer over this if you have a radar it works as well for not tracking animals but hoping this week to get back into icarus videos
@@VTrucker777 honestly might even be easier now since you could set up turrets or tuskers to just clear the enemies while you just toss them in to the bench

would love to see some wood wall spike defense i kinda wanna use them but don't know how to make them snap to walls.
the fortifications snap to the fortification walls not standard walls was planning actually a video on them with upgraded mobile defenses
