Thanks for watching, and I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We spent it with my mom, Cassie's sister and her family, and some family friends. And I haven't really talked about it on the channel, but I have a new camera and lens setup as of earlier this year. The lens especially came in really handy when getting the bear shots! Here are the Amazon links for the setup if you're interested, and you clicking through and buying ANYTHING on Amazon through the links will give a little kickback to the channel here and not cost you anything. That means more cash for more spur-of-the-moment road trips to Alaska, Canada, and beyond in the future 😁 ** The main camera: amzn.to/4eOnotG (It's excellent.) ** The main lens: amzn.to/4i92t7x (It's excellent.) ** The main microphone: amzn.to/3CN973j (It's pretty good and the best I've found, but there are some things that annoy me about it.) Also, I've been getting more requests lately to go over camera gear, file management, etc. when on the road. Let me know if that's a video you'd be interested in at some point. And here’s the previous video from this adventure if you missed me getting onto the glacier! th-cam.com/video/q7JnSe6ynMk/w-d-xo.html Happy holidays! Tristan
I don't think you would be filming if you were being attacked by a bear so the gun might come in handy. ❤😊😅. Needless to say that was an incredible video. It looked like that bear might of been an old one and it would be a lot easier to get the dead ones and also no other bears to deal with. Just a thought. He was smelling you. Good thing you were on that platform.
Happy Thanksgiving to you too. Glad you not only saw grizz, but had extended camera time! What a robust and gorgeous animal. Yeah, the location is pretty great too 😊
I've watched scores and scores of your videos and can't remember you being so thrilled by what you were experiencing. BTW, I crossed on foot from Stewart to Hyder a few years ago. Upon my return to Stewart the Canadian official at the customs office stepped outside his door and told me to turn and look behind me. Following me down the road was a mama grizzly and her two cubs. Wish I could post my pictures here!
@@GratefulOverlander Grizzlies and coastal brown bears are the same species. They do get bigger on the coast and are known by their actual Brown Bear name but are still the same as a grizzly.
My-oh-my that grizzly! WOW! It was almost as if it was saying "looks like paparazzi; better give him a good show with a close-up". And when it looked up at you (!), it was as if saying, "you getting this on film?" Lol. Have loved this beautiful series of 3 Canada/U.S. videos. Spectacular photography and icing on the cake was the grizzly. Thanks Tristan.
My favorite part was definitely when the bear stopped just below where you were standing and you said “are you kidding me?” And the bear looked over his shoulder and made eye contact with you as if to say “no I’m not kidding” 😂 Another great video Tristan. 👍
That. Was. Awesome. Not only seeing the bear but your coverage of the glacier experience was unbelievable. Especially the fact that you could camp right there overlooking the glacier. Super!!!
Hello sir! I know exactly how you felt seeing that bear. Just a few weeks ago, I was driving into a mountain town called Oakhurst, Calif and a bear identical in size, crossed the road in front of me! I was amazed and couldn’t not believe what I was seeing. I was going very slow already because it was a steep down hill after just cresting the top. The bear was about 20 feet in front of me then as I slowly passed him by, I got to see him climb almost straight up a very steep hill just out my drivers window! I was only a car lane away from him! So magnificent to realize how strong he is! I am so thankful for the moment! And will never forget how beautiful a animal the bear is! Thanks for sharing your bear encounter!
My 8yr old son LOVES bears. He is convinced he needs a pet bear when he grows up. He got so much enjoyment from this video! According to him the bear is now named Steve.
I’m so glad you’re still alive and in one piece, to tell us all about your amazing grizzly experience. Too close for my comfort. I had to put my phone across the room and watch from behind the couch with binoculars! ❤ 😮
I've gotta say, the scenery you've been showing us in your last few videos is some of the most spectacular I've ever seen. Enjoying watching these Alaska/BC adventures, thank you!
It would have been hard on me, emotionally, leaving that special, glacier-side campsite. Most of us haven't even camped next to an unfrozen river that wide, with that kinda view perspective. What an awesome natural force... But then to be gifted before you left, by that grizzly encounter. It was a special goodbye. There's nothing like being one-on-one, eye-to-eye with a wild animal, each acknowledging the other's presence, alone in the world.
THRILLED for you and your experience with the bear!! Truly a once-in-a-lifetime treat. I love that it was so random too. You just never know. 🐻❤ Glad you had a pleasant Thanksgiving, I hope you have a wonderful holiday season, Tristan! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us! Been following for about three years now and it’s always a highlight of my week!
Tristan, this trip has provided some unparalleled views! You have been to many magnificent places before, but here you have had some new, mind- boggling experiences that made you light up like a child! So fun to watch you absorbing the beauty and reveling in the experience. That grizzly was epic! As always, thanks for taking us along! 😊 Our best to you, Cassie, and of course, Bowser!
That was so cool! I got a little worried when the bear dragged the fish right under you and he turned to stare straight at you. I hoped he wasn’t thinking you looked fresher and tastier than the fish. lol! Anyway, was an awesome experience, and fun to see on video.
Tristan this video could go viral on TH-cam! What a great treat! Your best video to date! Wonderful! Thank you for your instincts to stay in that area til now!❤️😀🇺🇸⭐️
Hyder, Alaska and just across the border... location setting for the book "Fury Of The Sasquatch: The Sasquatch Encounters Three". If any part of that story is based upon truth, well, no wonder it's abandoned. 😁 Glad you saw a grizzly bear from a safe distance! Hope you'll let us know if you come across a squatch. Unlikely you'll get pics or video. Stay safe. What an amazing adventure into stunning nature. Safe travels!
Been watching your videos for about a year now. Wife and enjoy them a lot. Never commented before, but had to this time. We visited the Salmon Glacier in 2022. Watching your experiences at the Glacier brought back great memories for us. Thank you for sharing! I watched intently for a glimpse of the rock man I made on a rise near the road opposite the glacier, but never saw him :) I was also surprised you didn't say anything about the tunnel along the road past the glacier. Keep up the good work!
My. Daughters and I were in Alaska for two months and we also saw and took videos os bears and eagles fishing in the same rivers together. It was something we will never forget and like you we stayed until the bears left . They were supposedly brothers about three years old . I get excited when I revisit my videos just incredible. I will be going back this year . All your videos are amazing
That was spectacular, Tristan!! I'm glad you decided to unload before crossing the border!! What a treat! I was riding the gondola at Jackson Hole and saw a grizzly beneath us. I pointed my camera towards the bear and sprayed and prayed!! I got one fuzzy picture of his backside, but it was good enough to tell what it was. I saw another one in Yellowstone a few years before this, but it was over a mile away, so there were no pictures of that one. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us. I'm a nomad myself and really appreciate what goes into making these videos. People tell me that I should start my own TH-cam channel and document my travels. Honesty, I'm retired now, and I don't want to work that hard. "Living The Dream," as they say, is hard enough without having to take on the rolls of director, producer, editor, marketing, and God only knows what else, to make top quality content like you do. I'm happy with living out of this Ford Transit van as I enjoy great content from folks like you and others. I really hope our paths will cross one day. I'd love to buy you dinner sometime!
This series just keeps getting better! Wow, I love that country. I've been there twice and each of these videos has left me with a powerful craving to return.
Duuuuuuuuuude!!!! What an epic adventure!! I thought the couple of vids around the glacier were spectacular, but the bear left me gobsmacked! I’m so glad you were able to have that experience. It definitely made up for your other stops when there were no bears. I’m gonna guess your heart was skipping a beat for that entire 2.5 hours. Heck, I was so excited FOR you! What an incredible trip with wonderful and lasting memories. This just moved into my #1 spot. And you did it all in the RAV! Huzzah!😊😀
This glacier was one of our favorite stops on our Alaskan adventure this past August/September. We are really enjoying watching your series, reliving some of our experiences and seeing things we missed.

Wow, Tristan, what an epic trip this has turned out to be. First that spectacular glacier and now this close encounter of the bear kind. Your joy has been palpable and leaps through the screen for the delight of us, your followers, no doubt. Thank you, and may you be rewarded by more amazing adventures. Warmest wishes from Australia.
Last spring I saw 14 different bears, 5 near Yosemite and 9 in Yellowstone but no more than a minute or two. That must be the thrill of a lifetime to observe one for that long
I look forward to your Saturday videos, this will be one of my favorites, cinematography, bear, your commentary, your excitement, you are the best! This is your natural element for sure! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Glad you got to see a bear there. I was there in August 2023 and only saw a single bear as well (and the stream was full of fish). The fish swim up there and they die, so those are fish that have died after spawning. It was neat to see my bear swat a fish out of the water and then eat part of it. I'm assuming "The Bus" in Hyder was closed. Some of the best fish and chips I've ever had (the best was at Skagway Brewing in Skagway, AK). Always good to support those local businesses.
The best part was when the grizzly came out from under the walkway to eat that dead fish in front of you! That must have been awesome to behold! Thanks for sharing this amazing adventure, Tristan! 😅
You're absolutely correct!! I was watching Juho & Sohvi's video when Tristan's notification came through. We're so lucky to have such wonderful creators to follow. Grizzlies and polar bears, spectacular!!!! Thank you, Tristan. That was as awesome as a National Geographic special.
Loved it all ! I was lucky to see a grizzly bear in the wilderness when I was 10 years old. I haven’t seen one since so it was very special seeing you film that Grizzly. How lucky you were to observe it for such a long time. Mine was probably 10 minutes of viewing. I think I need to make a trip up there..
Wow! Getting to observe that bear up close and alone was a truly magical experience - thank you so much for sharing that! I went through last summer and only stopped once instead of going back to check for bears. I really should have spent more time in that area. You've inspired me though - I'm hoping to visit again next summer and will definitely make more time for Stewart and Hyder. Great video! 🤩
Bears are nice at a safe distance. This got me thinking I haven't had a bear walk through the yard in years that I know of. Right now they should be all asleep. Glad you got to see one.
Once again, I thoroughly enjoyed your video from Hyder, and especially glad to hear you say you love it. Although it's been 20 years since I was there, I still love Hyder. A note for future reference, although I suspect you are aware of it. The salmon run up fish creek to spawn in late summer, mostly July I think. That draws the most black bears and grizzlies to eat the salmon. They leave most of the fish behind, inviting tons of eagles. Of course, that's when most tourists come, but it wasn't that many in 2004. It could be larger now. The salmon die after spawning, so those dead fish have been there quite a while, I'm sure they smell. Camping was the only option for staying more than a day, so that limits the crowds somewhat. The residential population also increases in the summer, so there's more activity in town. Not to far from there is where the white Spirit Bear lives, but I had no luck in searching for them.
I've been watching your show for a few years now, and I am surprised you don't see more wild animals. As you do travel into a lot of wilderness. And live in Wyoming. Keep up the good videos, and thanks.
Picture at 11:30 looks like a puzzle picture. Actually looks like the ones I do that look fake to me cuz they have so many perfect and ideal elements. So earth really does have these gardens of Eden, huh.
I really thought your headline had to be a bit of clickbait…Boy was I wrong!! Amazing footage! Best bear footage I’ve seen! I’m green with envy! Thanks for sharing!
Welcome to Canada, my friend. I’m glad that you had quite the experience. I hope one day that you can come back and adventure a little bit more. Thanks for the video. Safe travels home…Kev c
Thanks for another great video, Tristan! Like you, I love watching bears. I lived in northern Ontario and would have black bears around the house….literally, when I was cooking in the summertime with the windows open. They were fascinating. No grizzlies but they were still wildlife that you needed to have respect for. I loved it. Till next time, safe travels.
Very cool seeing the bear. Thanks for sharing so much footage. Bears and wolves are my favorite wildlife. We have Black bears here in the South Eastern part of the country. I’ve been fortunate enough to see them in the wild. I would love to see a Grizzly in the wild. Thanks for another great video. Looking forward to seeing your next adventure.
Wow!!!! What a wonderful experience to see a Grizzly that close and not feel threatened. I’ve been watching your videos every Saturday morning for years !

When I lived in Alaska I only hiked with a 44 Magnum. I wouldn't be typing this right now if I wasn't armed when a Brown Bear attacked me...
Would love a video on gear. Happy thanksgiving.
@@johnganshow5536The resolution on a 44 Magnum isn't quite good enough for TH-cam, unfortunately.

Quintessential Alaska! Glaciers, waterfalls, rain and a HUGE GRIZZLY eating salmon!!! Thank you Tristan for taking us along!
"huge", because it's not a Grizz. It's a Coastal Brown Bear, and they get much bigger due to their salmon diet

Great capture on your camera of the bear eating the fish!
Welcome to Canada, my friend. I’m glad that you had quite the experience. I hope one day that you can come back and adventure a little bit more. Thanks for the video. Safe travels home…Kev c
What an awesome experience. Thanks for sharing.
RIP Timothy. I will never forget your story.

That’s incredible footage Tristan! What a great experience! So beautiful! Good thing you needed to go to the bathroom!😂 Thank you for sharing! 💚
So exciting! Felt like I was right there with you! I want to see one in the wild, a very safe distance away, of course. 🐻
One of your best! I love that spot
How cool is that, alone on a safe space to watch that Grizzly. What a great way to head out of Alaska! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.
Hes looking up at you thinking ‘desert!’
Wow!!!! What a wonderful experience to see a Grizzly that close and not feel threatened. I’ve been watching your videos every Saturday morning for years !
Yeah those are dead salmon. Stunning videography Tristan🎉
Great video content! The bear segment was very cool but the drone shot of you on the rock point overlooking the glacier was epic! Thanks for sharing
What a treat. Especially so close. Nice.
The bear was wonderful Tristan!
Alaska must be incredible. I hope to see it some day. Awesome is the perfect word that is actually appropriate
Nice music.
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing experiences, especially this one of the bear “fishing”.
