    In this video we will show you how to remove and replace tensioner pulley on BMW E90 E92 E93 with the 3.0 6 cylinder engine. We demonstrated on a 2007 BMW 328xi. However, it should be about the same for non all wheel drive models as well. The 335i will differ for sure. If the tensioner pulley is noisy you do not have to remove the tensioner. All you will have to is remove the belt.

    Good video and thanks. One word of advice, when you engage the fastener make sure the socket engages as deep as you can and use one hand to hold the engaged socket and fastener to stabilize them before turning the socket handle; otherwise, if the socket is shallow you are at high risk of ruining the fastener head....

    Question, if that tensioner thread is stripped which timesert size is best? M10 or m11? Or else?

    My belt sits at the tensioner pulley just like that, it looks like it's gonna pop off. Do I need to replace my tensioner pulley or could it be a loose serpentine belt? I have a 08 328i.

      If it never been replaced yes because the tensioner on these cars go bad and your belt will pop and can possibly get sucked behind the crank going into the timing throwing off.

    Hey, guys got a problem. I replaced tensioner assembly, belt and idler
    pulley on e90 bmw. Now the belt moves from side side on the tensioner
    pulley, I call it wandering. On my set up the top of the belt rolls on
    the tensioner pulley. Any ideas why my new belt is wandering? On the
    idler pulley the belt is steady in one spot.

  • @brianbarker6746

    I managed to accomplish the belt replacement by jacking front end, only removing the under engine cover and removing one of the air cross pipe torx screws (loosened the other). I pushed belt down into vicinity from the top and placed it on pulleys etc. from underneath, finishing on top when ready for tensioner. I cut the belt I replaced for easier removal from underneath. My belt squeak and subsequent failure was a result of my power steering pump coming loose (the bottom bolt had actually fallen into the under cover). Must have not tightened it sufficiently when replacing oil pan gasket

  • @FactsMattersUSA
    @FactsMattersUSA 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow, this is why you do not take your expensive car to any joe mechanic, the bolt used for the tensioner is a one time use bolt. ALWAYS replace that bolt with a new one plus it requires torquing.
    Plus always change the pulleys and belt as one assembly.

    My BMW Dealership just quotes me $1400 for this job. Replace belts and tensioner on a 2011 335i sedan. SMH. Definitely going to do it myself now.

    • @trankt54155
      @trankt54155 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When I saw that M badge I immediately thought you need to go down the bottom to gain access to the tensioner but when he opened the hood it appears to be 328i. Then I wonder if the car has been damaged in the front end and they got the M front end from a junkyard, modified it and put it in a 328i....
