How to Fish a SPEED WORM in Scattered Grass for Largemouth Bass

  • How to fish a speed worm in scattered grass for Largemouth Bass... There are many ways to do it, but this is HOW I DO IT. Summer bass fishing can be tough. Sometimes you just have to buckle down and go look for them. One of the most popular techniques for doing this here in Central Florida is to "slow roll" a speed worm. In this video, I show you how to, or how I do it, slow roll a speed worm (like a spinner bait). We're using 20 - 30 pound braided line, an 1/8 ounce weight, and a 4/0 offset wide gap hook. Just cast it out, and reel it in. They'll eat. There's a little more to it than that. Just watch the video to learn how to do it.

    One of the best tools for helping pick out a backlash is a dental floss pick. The tooth pick end can be inserted right where you need it most. The flosser end makes it easy to hold. Removing a nasty backlash is very satisfying.

  • @petertrout8140

    I’ve noticed that much of the time when you are overhand casting, that you cast across your body, or it looks like you are. You are right handed, yet it appears the rod tip is being sent from over you left shoulder. Is there a reason for this, or some advantage? I am a long time beginning or intermediate fisherman, and am trying to improve. What gives with your casting technique, if you don’t mind me asking? Thanks Chuck!

    • @ChuckPippinBassFishing
      @ChuckPippinBassFishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peter Trout that’s a good question. I actually have a video that explains all that: th-cam.com/video/Vx6UGk2QNvc/w-d-xo.html

    • @petertrout8140
      @petertrout8140 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Chuck! Will try that the next time out and see how it goes. I’m fairly proficient with the accuracy of my baitcaster, and really don’t get backlashes from over-casting, but do from hitting branches, etc. with my rod tip. (No boat, so only pond/lake bank fishing) Distance does seem to be an issue, especially without a screw weight and just a craw or speed worm. Big fan of the screw weights, but they are getting hard to find in Houston for some reason. Did catch a nice 4.5 lb. fish this morning to start the July 4th holiday! Anyway, really enjoying your “How I Do It” videos, keep ‘em coming! Thanks for the help!

    • @petertrout8140
      @petertrout8140 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tried that cross body casting thing, and Chuck, I SUCK. I guess it might be one of those deals where it’s a comfort and casting accuracy deals, but I just felt that was air bombing my casts. I’ll give it another try, but first attempt and I felt like a kook, lol. Like anything else, just give it time and keep practicing, right?
