Thanks for the story. I actually use the Elements version and it does good job for me. I got this version from the Community Appreciation Bundle you showd us at the beginning of last year. You were right, there are many tools in this bundle and I am very satisfied. Et passe une excellente année 2021 Mike!
Thank you to all for your suggestions. It’s especially nice to know Izotope monitors, and responds to reviews of their products. In the next hour or so, I’ll fire it up and check my version of Ozone. I’m glad that I’m a subscriber to Creative Sauce.
Yess. Mastering is nothing but a marketing gimmick to sell plugins and mastering service. In other words it is just a process to make the track sound louder to a particular parameter.
@@GUPRPEET-Singh And yet the likes of Randy Merril charge astronomical rates.. (he was the mastering engineer on the latest Adele song "Easy on Me", not really my type of music but can't argue with the sound quality.. I wonder how much of it is down to the mix engineer, Tom Elmhirst, would be interesting to hear the before and after mastering..)
I hear Izotope mentioned quite a lot but am never sure which of their product line might be suitable for a specific task. It's really helpful to have some flesh put on the bones in a video like this. Many thanks Mike.
So tl;dr about iZotope's Suite: Ozone: as in the video, for mastering Neutron: for mixing, mainly targeted at instruments Nectar: for mixing as well, also targeted at vocals RX: Audio repairing (eg: dehissing, de-essing, de-clipping, un-verbing, etc. I don't use rx all that much but many pro youtubers, music and non, are seen using RX for their workflow as well) Neoverb: their own reverb thingy Vocal doubler: a vocal doubler And many more other things but mostly targeted towards Ozone/Nectar/Neutron users
@@ryujinayato1623 Wonderful, thanks so much for the info. I know Izotope have a lot to offer and they rightly want to go into detail but your stripped down summary is exactly what I was after.
Great video!! Love the history of the plugin and the very stealth-like transition into the advantages of using it today. Ozone is an absolute go-to for me.
Hey Mike! Thanks for the history lesson. I remember this plug-in back in the day when it was first released. I just never paid it no mind but now am taking a good look at it now.
For anyone who is on the budget, you can do really nice stuff with ELEMENTS versions ( you can grab them on sale with ridicilous prices ) and also if you have more budget STANDART versions will be more than enough. Trust me on the one. Of course, if you like, you can have the full versions if you got the money...
It allows an intelligent person to use a preset, get a sound, then work backwards to see why you so screwed up your mix. It also lets grandma pick a preset and make mediocre music with no clue whatsoever. So, It is cool...even for idiots.

Excellent mastering summary. I have the iZotope Advanced suite (Ozone and Nectar etc) and it’s very good.

I love what Andrew Scheps said about mastering "What's mastering? when my mix is fnished that's it, it's ready for release!"

Thank you for this!! Concise, to the point yet all the pertinent info was included in this video :D appreciate it!
would you talk about TH3 audio settings?
Added plug: Ozone from iZotope is well worth the money as it can help take your music to the next level (IMHO).

Nice history & overview Mike. Still love that t shirt!
I remember when you could purchase this at a sensible price, but now, it's silly money and really meant for the Pro Studio

I like version 5 the mos, although there are already good features in both 8 and 9 but there is no reverber. Thanks.
Yes - bring back reverb!
the good thing is you can add external plugins (like reverbs)
I wrote about no orchestral preset. I see my version was 9 elements. Just ordered 9 standard from sweetwater for 99$. I’m back in the mix. Thanks all.
Great adverb but I wish it was acompanied by a few examples to really shine through.
ozone vs infected mushroom pusher from waves ?
It doesn’t have a preset for orchestral compositions. What preset would you substitute?
Hi Michael. Under the Genre-Specific Mastering presets, there is a 'Classical' preset.
tonal balance control has an orchestral preset which could help
We have a whole bunch of orchestral presets we could send you if you send us an email to our support team on the website.

Hi Mike, and I hope you're well, ding ding. I miss the old format.j
Content still really interesting and informative though!
Hi everyone! Which one in your opinion is better: Ozone 8 Elements or Ozone 9 Elements?
Wow, I wasn't aware that Ozone was around since that long already
Yes - and they used to do a version for 'Winamp' - remember that?
@@CreativeSauce Winamp, yes .. still got it.
Seems it’s available without need for registration on some pirate sites. Not worth the danger, though.
Definitely not!

*the monent you realise Ozone is not free..
Yes, a video about free mastering plug-ins would be handy!
