My cats sadly didn’t like them lmaoo, they preferred bok choy!! Cats cannot taste sugary sweetness so they often like savory leaning foods (bok choy is cat safe :))
@@iaacryign next time i cook bok choy i'll put some aside without seasonings for my cat :) who knows if he'll like it, but i like letting him at least sniff at and try new stuff. i'll eat it anyways lol i love bok choy
Honestly, the explanation for the sweet potato being dry just showed how much you know and care about your snails. Only considerate snail owners would take the time to notice this and accommodate them to their needs. Kudos!
To be fair they're surprisingly opinionated. I have a tank of 6 and switched powder brands once, and they wouldn't even touch it. I tried it dry, paste, misted, soupy, even mixed with the old stuff, and it was no good! I finally gave in and switched back and now they eat their powder food again... smh 😂
My cat's the same. I've given him a piece of steak that he sniffed and walked away from. But he's fought me for a big mac I was eating before. He also loves potato chips, fries, and bread lol.
Watermelon is actually quite healthy for cats, you can make like cold ones so in the summer she can be. Cool and you can just give it to ur cat as normal to! It's hydrating for them.
Melons (cantaloupe especially but watermelon as well) has a similar texture to meat, and cats don't have the right kind of taste receptors to taste sweetness - so she probably enjoys it because it seems very close to a cut of raw meat! She can totally sample some melon, but don't give her too much as cats are obligate carnivores and don't get much nutrition from fruit...
I had a black cat who loved watermelon literally everytime we had one he would demand a piece and then he’d get into the bucket of rinds and chew on em. I miss that weirdo
my pet snail died his name is belly and I feel so bad and I miss him so much,I didn't know that snails could drown and the water bowl was not shallow enough to not make him drown ,I didn't mean to hurt him I feel so bad but I'm happy that these little snails are living a good life :)
I miss my pet snails...they all passed away like 6 months ago (not all at the same time the last one died around that time) it's nice to see another person caring for snails so lovingly :)
its good idea to put the food that's on the ground in a bowl. When the dirt and food are in direct contact, mold can grow. I learned the hard way with my darkling beetles. Pretty setup by the way 👍
I like snails. This is my first time seeing them treated as a classy pet. My preschool class had them in a clear pet tank and i had one in high school that i found. I would love to start snail care as a hobby. This is so cute
i love when people make accommodations for their pets, it shows that you truly take the time to know your animals on a deeper emotional level and care enough to change little things for their liking 🥰 (i’m talking about how she didn’t make the food wet bc she knows her snails prefer it dry) there’s ways to go about all animal care (and human care) but NO method is 100% “correct” unless it makes the difference between life/death or being healthy/unwell 🤍 everyone has a preference! even animals, and taking the time to learn those since they can’t be verbally communicated makes a wonderful pet owner (:
I used to have a cat who would come running whenever I cut open any kind of melon. Cantaloupe was her favorite, but watermelon was certainly well-loved! It's harmless in small amounts so long as you remove any developed seeds, but keep in mind it is sugary and cats can become diabetic if overweight :)
I once had a stray cat, teenager/very young adult cat come up to us in the back yard, hop on the patio table and start eating the watermelon. She was starving and thirsty
❤❤❤ I love this! I wish I had seen this when my daughter was little and collected backyard snails 🐌. Hers lived several years. She’s now 22 but I just shared it with her. Who knows. She may want a few pet 🐌 again 😊
gosh..... i miss having pet snails, they're so cute. I found a brown-lipped grove snail on a tree outside while taking a walk, and impulsively took him home, where i kept him for over a year in a large empty plastic jar from costco. a couple months in i bought a second snail (different species, I can't remember what it was but i made sure they wouldn't breed or eat each other) I put coconut fiber in the bottom and made a little place for him to hide under a yogurt cup with a door cut out. I fed him any veggies we had in the house, and cuttle bone for his shell.... But one summer we left for a vacation, and the petsitter didn't take care of him. he died in the heat without fresh water or food...
I had a pet snail named Preston when I was in college. I got him a cute terrarium like that on Etsy and fed him fish food (per a recommendation) that had him growing so much. I miss you little guy!
I didn’t realize how similar they are to taking care of hermit crabs! I have 3 hermit crabs that I mist feed and water everyday, besides a few different things, obviously. it’s fascinating to see how taking care of different pets is like.
fun fact about cats and melons! a lot of amino acids present in meat are (in small quantities) found in most melons too, so cats interpret the smell and taste of watermelon as meatlike in nature! probably helps that it's red and juicy too :]
Your cat can have watermelon, carrots, pumpkin, or sweet potatoes, all of which are completely healthy for them. I used to cook at least one meal a day with a meat veggies and rice. Second meal is a canned cat food to get the missing nutrition and a SMALL amount of dry in between. They all liked watermelon as a snack, especially when it's hot. All my cats lived until they were at least 19 years old and rarely got sick, even with regular vet visits.
Hey veterinarian here I just wanna let you know that watermelon is so good for cats digestive system so just like three or four pieces a day would be great for your cat
Watermelon is cooking and good for the heart. Cats know how to get what they need from grasses and plants, whenever they need. So if they want it, I say let them have a little.
One of my cats snatched a piece of my watermelon one time. Because she just wanted it so bad. And she ate the whole piece. It’s all water anyways. Hydrating! 💜
Lol this reminds me of a cat we had when I was a kid, he wanted anything we were about to feed our rabbits. We'd put the bowl down on the deck right at the cat deck where they'd have their breakfast & he'd turn his nose up but as soon as we made our way to the rabbit hutch & set the same bowl down he'd be in there chomping away. My mom was curious so took corn she'd just cut off the cob outside (not to actually feed the rabbits just an experiment) she set the bowl in front if the cats both turned there nose away immediately, she picked it up & as soon as she was walking towards the rabbit hutches our male cat was jumping down from their cat deck to follow her. She set the bowl down & turned just like she would have to open the door & Felix was immediately gobbling the corn down. She tried taking the bowl away & he put his paw on it. He didn't necessarily like it but he certainly didn't want the rabbits to have it.
I had a cat who adored lettuce. I had to make sure to buy a head every week for him. He wanted it every day after work. So I dutifully fed it to him. He'd only eat it by my hand. I miss that little guy! So watermelon doesn't seem far-fetched to me. Both have great water content.
Heya! Veteran snail keeper here. Hard surfaces (like the mushrooms and rocks) in a snail terrarium are pretty dangerous for snails. Snails tend to drop off the ceiling for no conceivable reason, so this can easily lead to broken shells, which essentially always become terminal infection hazards. Additionally, water bowls are a drowning hazard, and metals like copper present in the edges on the glass are toxic to snails as well. I can see you care about your animals, but I think a bit of a terrarium rework would be best for them.
@@TinySwanGrandAdventures Hard to say. Much as I love the mini-greenhouse look, I haven't seen anything quite like it that I'd consider safe. It's important to consider that not only do snails have very permeable skin that tends to allow a lot of stuff from their environment into the animal, but they also love to make their way around the walls, trying to eat the glass or plastic beneath them as they go, so they will inevitably take in harmful metals from accessible metal components like this. I'd suggest doing some research on what substances to avoid when it comes to snails, as I can't really provide a comprehensive list myself. I wish you luck! Oh, and for improving interior aesthetics, cork bark and other soft woods are great. Any plants that aren't toxic and stay alive are great too, and moss and lichen are always hits. Keep in mind, some things may be treated with pesticides and fungicides which are likely harmful or lethal to snails, so shop carefully. Usually anything that's frog-safe is snail safe, though.
Cat and Dogs can have watermelon and love the stuff it's also a good calming thing for animals whenever there's fireworks (I don't own a cat yet but they do love the stuff)
Hello! I love how detail and put together the meals you make for you pets are! But do the snails get calcium so their shells stay strong, or do they not need it right now? Love what you do and keep doing it!❤

@@iaacryign stoppp, a cat named potato who loves bok choy? that's so cute omg 😭🖤🖤
@@iaacryign that’s strange, cause my cat like ice cream, frosting, lollipops and all types of sweet things
hey guys, just in case you didn’t quite understand the water bowl part!
make sure it’s VERY shallow. Snails can drown, so be careful! ^^
But still big enough so they can take a lil bath too
Bottle cap from a gallon juice jug after being cleaned works best for my two helix aspersa. It's just shallow enough and just wide enough.
THIS GOES FOR ANY SMALL ANIMAL!!! Animals are dumb, put too big of a water dish in a hamster cage and they will find a way to drown themselves.
@@squizzerl1478 very true 👍
