PSA- I did NOT boil the ROCKS before putting those in! Boiling rocks can be VERY dangerous so please do NOT do that. I meant that I boiled all the decor pieces :) I accidentally typed in rocks as well bc I was staring at the rocks while editing the video lol. I DID however clean the rocks with very hot tap water just to get all the dirt and dust off of them!

If you are keeping springtales you should add charcoal to your substrate near the bottom.
It will help with drainage, and its where the springtales will breed and lay their eggs.

My snails hated the eco earth stuff, they never dug into it and constantly glued them selves to the glass and then I switched to potting soil (idk what kind but I made sure it didn't have pesticides and stuff) and they immediately dug into it. And just had babies!

I have snail and slugs and I learned most people say don't touch snails or slugs with your hands bc they breath through there skin so if it gets irritated they have a really hard time breathing and most end up passing. So maybe try gloves or washing your hands before touching them (also try to keep your hands/gloves wet when touching them) They are really nice snails btw and I hope you have a great day ♡

okay, so I am really interested in getting a snail and have done loads of research and stuff like that but im wondering for the enclosure. I have a glass tank that's 3-4 gallons so its on the small side but I also have another tank that's 10 gallons, do u think it would be okay to use the 10 gallon or is that too big? because the 3-4 gallon doesn't have air holes so I don't wanna use that. I might just have to get another tank. also the type im getting is a helix Aspersa

I've been researching snails but the only thing stopping me from getting them is the eggs. Do you have a video or info somewhere about this? I'm reading online that you have to find & cull eggs about once a month but the positive is snails can generally only lay eggs 5 times a year at most. Trying to find someone with experience with them to give input before I invest in them as a pet. Is it a constant headache or really only something you do a handful of times a year?

I know you mentioned you'd boiled all your decor before putting in, and you said rocks too?
Please don't boil your rocks! There can be moisture trapped inside that can cause the rocks to explode and potentially ruin your kitchen or injure you!
Baking is a possibility (low and slow! like 200 F for 4 hours type of low and slow!) or you can just wash them off with a very diluted bleach solution before rinsing like crazy
Or, the easiest option, you can have hot water on them (as hot as your tap can get, mine gets to where I can barely touch it) or boil water to pour over them in a bucket or something similar. That way the rocks themselves don't get hot enough to explode.
There was a case a few years back of someone that boiled rocks. They exploded, put a hole threw the wall, and I believe caused a few deaths.

    • @AlyssaNPets
