As a bachelor that knows next to nothing about cooking I really appreciate these videos. I am curious, what purpose do the 3 metal spoons serve? With the pots and pans I use I opted to not do this as metal damages them.

Hi Somjit, great video. Thank you very much for that. I did follow this video and my kidney beans came out really perfect. But I didn’t understand the purpose of metal spoons. Can you explain that?
Hi Kavya Rani, thank you for trying out this method 😄 So happy that the beans came out perfect! The metal spoon helps the kidney beans to soften faster. I'm not sure exactly how, but it's been passed down from my elders before me. Hope it helps 😄
it is because the metal spoons are realising metal oxides on the water which change the chemical composition along with its properties. I think there is a chance of poisoning with this method.
Hi Valverde1385, thank you for sharing 😀 Just would like to clarify that the metal spoons used were stainless steel 304 grade, so they are food-safe. For a peace of mind, porcelain spoons can be used to substitute the metal ones as well. Hope it helps 😀

Hi Zenab Tafail, Thank you for the suggestion. If the bean has been soaked overnight boiling until it gets soft is possible. However, without soaking the bean it's unlikely for the beans to get soft by continuously boiling it. This method has worked best so far. Your comment is much appreciated. Thank you. 😊
I hv been reading so many asking whats the purpose of putting in the metal spoons and her explanation was to make the beans soft faster. Water boiling pt is 100 degree C. With or without metal spoon the boil will not exceed 100 degree C. Putting in the metal spoon though is a good conductor of heat will not add 0.01 degree more heat. This the scientific explanation as against old MIL tales. Im sure next time if you prepare the exact time without the spoon u will get the same result as your demo with spoon.
