My tomato cotyledon leaves are brown even though the seed germinated in the bag. Can I fix those plants?

What about the temperature needed for germination? The room I will be using is between 55 to 60 degrees in winter. Should I use a germination mat or is this adequate? Also, does light influence germination?

light can be important - very low light is needed for most vegetables.
Is the info for Zone 8 right? It shows Nov 15. Or is it the average frost day for winter?
Not sure which info you are referring to. Most of the info is generic and not zone specific. The right time for starting seeds inside should be based on your zone.
If I understand your question correctly, you've found information that suggests Nov 15 to be your last frost date, and you'd like to know if that is correct for Zone 8? If so, that would certainly sound reasonable in a northern climate. But do remember that these dates are averages. Here in Europe, the first frost hit several weeks early, and I've heard similar reports from elsewhere. Happy gardening. :-)
I was looking for this very comment! In zone 8, March is the suggested time to start planting but the chart in the video ( 7:31 ) is listed as November 15. I think that's the last frost date before you can expect icy conditions.
