That was some real old school craftsmanship. I have given up almost all my modern hand guns for BP replicas. Next will be aquiring some fancy leather like yours.
Kevin...I realize this is an old post. But if you're still looking for authentic hand crafted reproductions of actual frontier holster makers...this guy in Montana is it. He has a huge personal collection of period firearms and gun leather from all of the best 19th century western holster makers. Which he faithfully reproduces with impeccable craftsmanship. Each of his patterns is a direct copy of an actual period holster from his collection. www.oldwestreproductions.com/about.cfm By the way...I know this sounds like a commercial...but I have no affiliation with him...other than that of a repeat customer.
I have the same Jesse James rig from El Paso set up for my two Cimarron 1871 Open tops, although I had them make a holster for my Schofield repro as well. (So far I have only one Schofield). The Open Tops look real purty in that Jesse James holster.
There are some fantastic carved leather holster sets, particularly buscadero rigs, at a leather holster shop on Magnolia in the Burbank/Glendale area. However, every single time I've gone in there, the person has been so onerously unpleasant that I no longer visit the place. It's a shame. Apparently they don't actually need to do business with anybody.
Will Rowell I like them all, but I suppose that 4 3/4” is my favorite...which is ironic because that is the only length I don’t have in a real Colt...I have to fix that...LOL
Your rigs look great. My question is about money belt styles . They look comfortable but how sturdy are they compared to single piece leather belts? Old West Reproductions has a nice money belt and Chisholms Trail has a nice tapered belt I was looking at. As always, thank- you for your time and knowledge. P.s I have an old Hunter Slim Jim I currently use,any experience with them?
you got a buncha videos and i ain't seen em all so don't crucify me but when are we gonna see you do some cowboy action shooting in a competition type deal? i wanna i wanna. that is a real pretty collection of dead cow skin ya got there.
Gabe, it is barely above zero here. No clubs are shooting until March, and even that depends on the weather. It is hard to film yourself in actual competition because the process is pretty disruptive to the other competitors, but I'll see what I can do this season.
duelist1954 We even had some of that yankee weather down here in Texas. When it gets below 40 people start rolling up the sidewalks. I can barely handle it for a couple of days, I don't know how y'all can put up with it for months.

Nice rigs, fancy with those adornments. These rigs can be pricey, however you get what you pay for. Fine quality leathers & presentation 👍

A whole lot of great looking leather work! :) A really, really NICE collection...
Thank you for sharing it with us.
Works of art.
Some mighty fine craftsmanship, great video, Thanks
Mike could you make a video like this, only focusing on accurate popular holsters and how they were worn in 1870-1890s?
