The beauty of this in real time is realising how patient you need to be with colouring to achieve to perfect result. Really helped me to slow down. Thanks for the great lesson.
Finally a video which shows this not-so-easy task step by step, without glossing over it -- as happens in so many videos which include "waterdrops" in their titles...
Hello! I watched your video and tried it! I did 8 different attempts and was a bit more successful by the 8th time! I will keep practicing. Thank you for being here to help all of us that dream about doing art well!
Hi Chris, I just got the 72 set and a 45 set of Prismacolor pencils for Christmas, after watching you draw the water droplet I am inspired. I am a profesional watercolor artist but I wanted to try a new medium. I have worked in most paint types and I draw with charcoal and graphite, so next is color pencils. I enjoyed your video and the music, I plan to watch more of your videos. Thank you and Merry Christmas
You have perfected the art of tutorial training! I learn and enjoy all of your videos. It's more informative, imo, that you "do" without having to talk. So many colorists' videos tutorials have too much chatter (about the dog barking, the kids shouting, why their pencils are short and other "much ado about nothing" comments) whereas you get right to heart of the matter. I'm so appreciative of your style and art!
Merci Chris pour ce magnifique tuto, on a l'impression que tout est facile pour toi. Je vais essayer mais il me faudra bcp de temps pour tenter l'expérience. À bientôt pour de nouveaux cours et merci encore bisous
This is a beautiful video ~ the background music was very calming. You are truly an amazing colorist | artist. The way you color images in books are outrageously creative and beautiful. I enjoy your videos ~ they are so calming. Although I just watched you color this, this looks so 3D ~ like I can pick it up!! LOL. This is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! xx
Thank you so much for this beautiful tutorial! You give me confidence that with practice I can do this too! You have made my coloring experiences so much fun! You're Awesome!
I love your videos. They are so easy to follow and I learn so much. You are one of the best colorists I have watched so far. Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us.
i just love your videos. your work is so original and unique. you are probably better at real art than all your art teachers and professors ever was. thank you
Thank you for another wonderful tutorial! you make it look so easy :) Today i was having trouble colouring tree in one of my Jade Summer books but one of your videos helped me :)
Hi Chris, I've been following your channel for a couple years now and first want you to know I am in awe of your incredible talent. I used to draw when I was a child thru young adulthood. Only with drawing pencils, not color. While I won multiple awards, I felt I always struggled with contrast. Anyway, I avoided color because I just never understood how to make depth in my drawings with colors. I love to color but still struggle with shadows and depth. I watch you lay down a color and then go over it in another color and at first was confused. But your finished work is breathtaking. I really need help in breaking thru he barrier of looking at something and seeing just one color. HELP! I am blind in one eye and am told that I lack depth perception and am hoping that this is not the reason I struggle with depth in my coloring. How is it that you know to lay down a color that in the end you don't actually see but it makes the finished piece perfect? Can you suggest any technique that may help? Are you aware of any instructional books or videos out there that help with depth? Watching you color has helped. Thank you for sharing your incredible talent with us!
Most artist grade brands such as Prismacolor, Polychromos etc will have their coloured pencils available to buy open stock, meaning they can be purchased individually and available from most art retail stores or specialty art supply stores.
Thank you. You are very skilled and I'm glad that you are willing to share that here. It can be difficult to see how you are coloring when you have a whole page and this makes it so much more easy :)
Hi Chris! First impression: Great as usual. Do you see what I see - after not looking at it for a while, it appears that the bottom/left of the drop looks elevated. I couldn't figure out why until I covered the "hard" bright line that's on the lower/left "ground," See what I mean?
Just an added thing that % refers also to the tonality on the greyscale I believe. Also warm being the hue as it’s a warmer shade or cool shade. I’m not 100% but that’s my general thinking as I’m aware of this with paints.

You have inspired me to start drawing again. I thank you from my heart.

Such a relaxing video. I was wondering, when your pencils get low do you buy individual ones? If so where do you get them?
Thank you. I bought individual when pencils get low, you can get those at Michaels stores.
You can get them at Blick as well

Thank you it's very beautiful, could you at some point show how you paint rocks? :)
Thank you. What kind of rock? 🙂
Doesn't really matter, it would be interesting to see both big rocks and smaller stones :)
Ok 😉
Thank you. You are very skilled and I'm glad that you are willing to share that here. It can be difficult to see how you are coloring when you have a whole page and this makes it so much more easy :)
I wanted to draw this but where were the steps? I was drawing and colouring it in and suddenly you changed colours like 3 times before i even noticed
I have a question where are the colors from I’m just curious
you have such a sturdy hand Chris
Hi Chris! First impression: Great as usual. Do you see what I see - after not looking at it for a while, it appears that the bottom/left of the drop looks elevated. I couldn't figure out why until I covered the "hard" bright line that's on the lower/left "ground," See what I mean?
That’s because I am no perfect 🙂
Dear Chris - you are as perfect as a colorist can get! Just thought I'd mention something, in case you can see it too. :)
I know it during drawing+recording, but I don’t like to use eraser on all my drawing/coloring so I just leave it that way 🙂
Understood. :)
Chris, at 23:00 onwards, you used the color PC1058 Warm Grey 90%. What does the 90% mean? is this part of the color pencil name? Thanks.
Yes, it is part of the name :)
Just an added thing that % refers also to the tonality on the greyscale I believe. Also warm being the hue as it’s a warmer shade or cool shade. I’m not 100% but that’s my general thinking as I’m aware of this with paints.
SHOW!
Good
