In Butter the crazy run is done by Jk, Jk is known for his crazy runs and harmonies while dancing, even Yg vocal coach have appreciated him recently for his vocal stability. Jin is the second most stable member in vocals while dancing, he usually does the highest notes in BTS like G5 belt, F6,C6. He’s like the belter of the group along with Jk for F5,F#5 notes. Jimin usually did the highnotes during debut era(he still does)
44:18 jungkook is the main vocalist for a very good reason 💜 and the “you got it bad” run in butter is jungkook lol jungkook does almost all the harmonizing and adlibs… he’s the only one with perfect pitch which makes his harmonies god tier and when you start to recognize his voice you will hear how much of him is on each song lol he harmonizes with the vocal line but his live harmony’s with the rap line are some of my favorite! Since he’s a sub rapper he’s the only one who really does this but yeh especially love you will hear him changing them up, adding new ones here and there but his adlibs are chefs kiss to any song… his musical intuition is insane…. But there will be parts in songs that is jungkook on the track but you will see jimin, tae “singing” the part when they do it live but when you know his voice you can hear that it’s jk… not sure why they do that lol but they do
The emotional damage that the BTS storyline has caused me isn’t fixable. I highly recommend getting into the storyline. I did the same thing as you; I didn’t focus on the storyline for a while & just watched the MV’s. I think for me personally doing it like that was way more helpful bc since I already watched the MV’s, I wasn’t overwhelmed with new visuals I’ve never seen before & could actually understand what I’m looking for when it comes to the storyline. - You're right - I Need U started their very dark and quite intricate fictional storyline. The original version is rated 19+ but there's a "kiddy" version and a Japanese version as well. For a bit of context, according to RM it was supposed to be "friend" but it didn't flow well in the song so it became "girl" instead. (Btw, XCeleste has made a really good one hour summary/"cheat sheet" of the storyline aka the BU because we're talking about a ton of mvs, short films, notebooks, a webtoon and even a mobile game. 😅) - If you want to check out the extended version of Fake Love, you could do a couple of rock vibe remixes in one video? fun fact, the "i need u girl" lyric was supposed to be "i need u friend" but rm changed it to girl only because the word gelled better sonically in that place. oh, and the lyrics to blood, sweat and tears are all mostly directed to the concept of evil. the intro to the album bst is on is called boy meets evil (if you remember from the fire mv ending, it said boy meets what). it's a whole thing with temptation and sins which was their main inspiration for the wings album (along with books on the topic such as demian by hermann hesse)
Butterfly (the song at the end of the Run video) was the song that I fell in love with and got me into watching the storyline because I was in tears when I first heard the song. Run is a continuation of the storyline, but there is a video between I Need U and Run. It's called Prologue and it contains a lot of the early story line including why V was in the water during the Run video.

Run also shows that bc of the inner turmoil.. they’re behaving very reckless and careless with their lives. Rm and v getting arrested, suga being too drunk to walk breaking everything to the point him and jk fight about it, hobi and jimin both in the hospital bc of their own self destructive choices, Jin’s the oldest but is helping them cause more problems instead of trying to help his little brothers and they’re figuratively running from their problems into more chaos
"Suga with the green hair" yes its a legendary look in the fandom MintYoongi (Sugas name is Min Yoongi) is epic. And the whole Wings album and the mv for Blood, Sweat and Tears are all tied to Hermann Hesses novel Demian (simplified its a story about a young man reaching adulthood but its more complex than that and pulls on Carl Jungs psychoanalysis and concepts something BTS come back to later in their Map of the Soul album series).

it's crazy you said jk is always smiling when he dances because before he struggled with his expression so he was sent to America to take dance lessons, since then he fell in love with dancing he even considered not being an idol anymore so he can be a dancer. Jungkook being such a versatile vocalist is a blessing and a curse… ppl always think they hear jin or jimins high notes but it’s jungkook or think they’re hearing taes deep voice but it’s actually jungkook. The BTS storyline has messed me up forever but in like such a great way. It is a super involved thing though so only dive in when you have the time and energy to do it. It is worth it but it is a huge commitment. Also I felt like you would appreciate that in I Need You the “girl” isn’t really meant to be girl. It was meant to be friend but it didn’t sound right in either language so they went with “girl” instead. Also… On is my favorite BTS song of all time. I Need U, Run, And BST are all Bangtan Universe. In the MVs that are marked with “BU Content,” the MVs don’t necessarily go with the song. Just an FYI. It’s almost never about a girl. I Need U was actually supposed to be I need U friend instead of girl, but it didn’t sound as good. This is the song that changes everything for BTS. If this album didn’t do well, they were going to disband. It did amazingly well. They’ve never looked back. Has good choreo - watch a live or dance practice. Run - it is connected with I Need U, but there is one video between them in the BU. On Stage Prologue - the song is Butterfly, but it’s not an MV. Strange I know. Run also has good choreo - watch a live or dance practice. BST - the entire wings album is BU. This MV is filled with info. Again, not about a girl. The wings album is based upon Herman Hesse’s novel “Damien.” Lots of amazing lives of this one. DNA is on the Love Yourself: Her album. This is the first LY album. I posted yesterday about this trilogy. Her is about finding that one true, fated love. (S)he’s in your DNA so to speak. The On: KMFCP is the final installment of BTS’ global art project, Connect, BTS. I would put this song in the shadow part (fears & doubts) of the Map of the Soul concept.

If you want more cute, sweet, flirty, but still dangerous Bangtannies I highly recommend the one-two punch that is Dimple and Pied Piper - there are several performances of those two songs together on TH-cam from 5th Muster. They're B-sides so no "official" video for either of them but the live performances - oof! Definitely look at the lyrics. There's also Serendipity - a Jimin solo song. There's an MV for it but the live performance is a must watch. The duality - oof. RM's solo Trivia: Love is an underrated song, too - cute and very very clever! If you want cute Suga (and who doesn't? Yoongi is my forever bias) then definitely Seesaw. The lyrics are sad but the dancey dance and all the smirks and smiles are an experience. I saw that you're doing solo songs and I *really* hope you'll end up doing a deep dive into the whole rapline. All the members have great solos, but RM, Yoongi and Hobi have the largest and most diverse range of solos tracks. You also asked if there were subunits, and there are sometimes! I think rap line and vocal line split is the most common, but there are other subunits as well. MOTS:7 had good ones, so check out that track list. And please, please, once you get to know them a little bit better, for the love of all things Bangtan, go look up SOPE's (Suga and J-Hope's) Otsukare Song. 😅 It is the epitome of "hot dork" for both of them. Other commenters have already told you about Butterfly, but I really recommend looking at a live performance of it if you can find one. The dance is beautiful. The super high run in the back you thought was Jimin´s during DNA was Jungkook and that crazy run in Butter that you though was Jin´s was Jungkook again. If you learn their voices which takes time, you will find it easy at the end. They all harmonize beautifully together and can easily complement each other, but vast majority of backing vocals, runs and ad libs are all attributed to Jungkook . To see JK´s relaxed always smiling face during their performances is something that beacme his signature, the guy never looks pained, strained, exhausted or overly concentrated. He must truly love what he is doing because he does it with incredible ease. I totally agree that mint Min Suga is something to keep close to heart and long hair Jin in ON era is pretty great too. That longer hair suits him really well. And no, Jimin, Tae and JK are not a subunit :-) They just belong to dance line (plus Hobi) so they probably look more into it.

21:00 "what is this butterfly song?" -> that song's name at the RUN MV's end is literally, 🤣🤣 한국에서 인사드립니당 >0< I was a middle schooler when I NEED U and RUN came out, and that's what blew up BTS from a somewhat known idol group to a huge, rising stars. Not top-tiers yet cause they were still considered rookies and rising, but still army was growing fast, and people started to know BTS. (sadly I was not a fan yet... I was more into indie than idol music, but still was a music maniac and made it my job to know every song on charts haha) I kinda remember our school dance club choosing a song to perform. This was definitely on the list cause it was such a hit, but everyone gave up after seeing the dance practice video. no one wanted to risk breaking a leg or a back. lol.
Oh and in Blood Sweat & Tears, you mentioned how a word sound like 'money money money' but it's actually 많이 많이 많이 which means 'a lot' or 'more'. it's actual pronounciation would be 'mani' in standard Korean, but they are accenting it to sound like 'man-ni' which is more of a dialect. fun facts! + ) blood sweat and tears music video is based off a classic novel 'Damian'. actually, the whole album WINGS album is a personal interpretation of the novel with a twist. as a person who love the said book, i have to say the album WINGS is one of the best take of the book.
Blood sweat & tears is heavily based on the book Damian (the Interlude is RM reading a part of the book) which is about good and evil, growing up and realizing everyone is both good AND bad not just one or the other. It's about "embracing the devil" (Jin took that quite literally) and being someone who is both good and tainted in a way. V falls from the balcony and comes back with cut wings (a fallen angel), he represents the devil. The scene at the dinner table also seems to represent the last supper.
I think you said it exactly, many of their songs tend to have a mixture of happy and sad. Some songs sound happy but might be a little darker/deeper, some sound sad but still have optimism. I also really like how, as you said, they don’t sugarcoat things- they acknowledge things might be be hard or not work out but they still have optimism. In their song “blue and grey” they sing “don’t say it’s ok when it’s not, don’t leave yourself alone” or in “2! 3!” (which is such a comforting song about staying hopeful) they sing “saying that there will be only good things from now on, saying that you won’t get hurt, I can’t say that, I can’t lie like that”. They always acknowledge there will be bad and instead of trying to deny it, it’s more about helping to find ways to deal with it. 💜💜💜
I just love their realness, like in the lyrics to magic shop “I won’t say obvious things like ‘cheer up’ but I’ll rather share with you my story”. Because sometimes you can’t fix everything and the best thing you can do is try to connect with the other person and be there for them.

The song at the end of the mv for Run is Butterfly - IMO, one of the most beautiful and poignant songs by BTS - and the choreo is gorgeous too 🙏💜 Oh, and Yoongi with mint hair - iconic!! His appeal should not be underestimated 🥰 He is my bias and is so handsome… It’s Yoongi on the bike, smacking Jimin on the head 😂🤷♂️ Don’t worry, it takes time to recognize them when you can’t see their faces properly - and I sometimes think Jimin and Yoongi could be actual brothers as they can look a little similar (shape of face, jaw, nose - don’t shoot me, it’s just sometimes…😂)

I need you and Run take place in the HHYP era aka The most Beautiful moment in life albums, and that''s when the BU, ("Bangtan Unvierse, fictional storyline) begin. The 2 MV dive deep in the BU. (XCeleste have made a good explanation video witch summerize the BU theories if you want to check) . Blood Sweet and Tears take part of the Wings album/era, deeply based on a book : Demian, by Herman Hesse. It's about temptation, loosing innocence... recognize and embrace you dark side in order to grow, and extend your wings. The MV is full of symbol. DNA is from Love Yourself trilogy era. ON is part of the Map of the soul : 7 era, based on Carl Jung concept (persona/ego/shadow..) . There is a looot to say for each song, but you have time to go deeper later on your bTS journey (hope it will last more than a week ;) .. All the discography of BTS is meaningful, because through their music and albums, they share their growth, thoughts, and history, but made them ... how to say ? Universal ? throught books, thinkers, poetry, psychiatric concepts, they transcend their personal storylife and struggles and made them relatable for everybody, sharing powerful social and personal messages. blood sweat & tears mv is a part of a storyline but it is just as much an independent mv the mv is tied to the theme of the temptation (24:03 you can see a light spelling temptation), but that's not all the meaning, it's not just the metaphorical story about how we always want bad things. the MV and the whole concept of Wings album and its short films (don't try them yet, you need to be really indepth with BTS Universe to appreciate them fully) - in another words the whole era is based on symbolism connected to the Herman Hesse's book Demian, where the main character (MC) explores his psyche while growing up (spoken lines in this MV and short films are quotes from the book). Theme goes along with coexistence of 'dark' and 'light' in our lives. MC was taught to see only the good side of the world, which is wrong, because the world isn't perfect and has bad side too. One can't live fully embracing just the good. You should accept both. The quote from the book that i really like is MC's thoughts: 'Why are only pleasant things attributed to the God if he created the whole universe? Are not both the light and dark sacred?'. The visuals of mv follow this theme: boys grew up and now facing new temptations to overcome or succumb to it thus they are acting defiantly, as if trying to seduce the viewer. There's a lot of pieces in the MV that are full of symbolism: every picture, statue, sound, object • an apple which means sin both in the religion and the book. Jimin is connected to an apple specifically, but they also all have an apple on their plate in the last supper scene (26:12) • green color also plays the role of a bad things like a devil's blood or a poisonous absinthe reputed to be a hallucinogen and banned in some countries. Namjoon is connected to the absinthe, his lines are "But your wings are wings of the devil. In front of your Sweet is bitter bitter" (25:18). behind the sweetness of the drink (absinthe is often drunk with sugar) lies its real essence of bitterness. it symbolises succumbing to temptation and denying the real world in favor of an illusion • a blindfold that keeps one from seeing the worlds as it is - then when blindfold is gone you see green tears (30:05) • Black and white doors on the sides of the “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” picture (23:55) that can be representing the inner fight of good and evil. “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” itself depicts the fall into hell of angels who rebelled against God, they turn into ugly monsters and good angels give them battle. In fact, this is the main idea of the struggle between good and evil, the choice of your side in this battle. there were also sculptures of an angel and a demon on the sides of background in the set for the choreo (25:22) • behind Jungkook's back is a painting of Icarus (24:42). I think everyone is familiar with Greek mythology and is aware that Icarus was presented with wings, but he could not resist the temptation and flew too close to the sun, causing the wax in his wings to melt so he fell. The story echoes the ideas of the song and the title of the album itself: "WINGS". Behind Tae when he jumps from the balcony is "The Fall of Icarus" too (27:11) • a kiss of a fallen angel as an acceptance of a darker side and resolution of the inner chaos. Above the mirror in the MV there's a Nietzsche quote (who also has a lot to do with the book's ideology): 'You must have a chaos inside you to give birth to a dancing star' (30:09). Jin is an observer just like the MC in the book. You also can notice that the rest of the boys are divided into 'good' and 'bad': • Namjoon drinking absinthe and subverting yet innocent Jungkook into it: you can see him licking the green wax (25:56) while Namjoon was lightning up his absinthe drink, they also are in the same room full of green smoke (26:53). in the japanese version of mv it is more in the face (this version it's COMPLETELY different, but be careful, Japanese releases can get blocked) • Jimin having an issue with temptation (holding apple 27:06) and Yoongi trying to save him from it (closing his eyes with a hand or a blindfold 27:57) • Tae being the fallen angel himself and Hoseok representing hope and shooting a colourful arrow to him (26:24). I think Hoseok's theme is more prominent in the Japanese version of the mv. J-hope also has the statue of Pieta, that has the meanings of piety, compassion (25:25) I would say that especially from Jimin-Yoongi pairing in this mv you can tell that there's no answer what is right: good or evil. The apple is the sin, but the sin is the part of the world. Neglecting it and being blindfolded prevents you not only from "bad" things but from living a life and being yourself: the blindfold holds Jimin to a closed door and doesn't let him go (28:24) the Nietzsche quote also give a hint that hiding from bad may actually be worse then the bad itself, because without accepting all sides of self one can't reach their full potential. and BTS has a whole another era talking about exploring one's self So the story is about exploring the world in its good and bad in order to explore your own self and become something greater

Focus on the small details in MV, the storylines too..Coz BTS mvs, lyricism are on different level. They have such genius word-plays, metaphors, ironics, philosophical & cultural refrences, symbolisms and stuff with also multiple sides of storyline or multiple meanings potrayed within one single piece of work/song. So, Their song don't stop with just straight-up translation of lyrics..Their meanings goes far beyond that with multiple in-depth explainations.

BTS is very good in breaking norms and using unusual combinations of genres, melodies, lyrics. A song may be uptempo and on the surface sound like a party anthem but the lyrics will be critical or sad while another time you may have a sad melody but uplifting, motivating lyrics. Which is why I love their musical versatility. They aren't afraid of exploring and mixing genres, beats, melodies, traditional and contemporary. It keeps their music fresh, interesting, new especially when they write in Korean and produce themselves.

I only allow myself the tiniest bit of the storyline. What helped me is knowing that Jin is a time traveler and keeps trying to go back and change something to save everyone. So when I see a butterfly or the cards falling or when he looks into the camera like that, something changed- like the butterfly effect. If you listen to Butterfly, it’s great live and also there is a dance practice that I love.

Cute, sweet, sincere, but also flirting with you is in fact a great deal of BTS content, I wish you luck surviving it. I mean we all lose our minds a bit every time Jimin shows us a SHOULDER. And as other people have mentioned, the live of Dimple/Pied Piper might kill you. Same for Filter. But if you want to see the song that makes straight men fall in love with Jimin (it's SO FUN to watch that happen) the top contender is Singularity. The music video and live performance both do it. Blood, Sweat & Tears is so iconic. I’m never ever EVER getting over the PTD Live Stage of Jimin & Jungkook during BST. Ever. I about DIED. Your reactions are precious, but your voice is so soothing, calming, just really pleasant to listen to. The BTS storyline has traumatized me for life. Film Out & Your Eyes Tell (both co-written & produced by JK) are lyrically beautiful & the live performances are vocally some of the best you’ll ever hear from them. In Butter the crazy run is done by Jk, Jk is known for his crazy runs and harmonies while dancing, even Yg vocal coach have appreciated him recently for his vocal stability.
Jin is the second most stable member in vocals while dancing, he usually does the highest notes in BTS like G5 belt, F6,C6. He’s like the belter of the group along with Jk for F5,F#5 notes.

44:18 jungkook is the main vocalist for a very good reason 💜 and the “you got it bad” run in butter is jungkook lol jungkook does almost all the harmonizing and adlibs… he’s the only one with perfect pitch which makes his harmonies god tier and when you start to recognize his voice you will hear how much of him is on each song lol he harmonizes with the vocal line but his live harmony’s with the rap line are some of my favorite! Since he’s a sub rapper he’s the only one who really does this but yeh especially love you will hear him changing them up, adding new ones here and there but his adlibs are chefs kiss to any song… his musical intuition is insane…. But there will be parts in songs that is jungkook on the track but you will see jimin, tae “singing” the part when they do it live but when you know his voice you can hear that it’s jk… not sure why they do that lol but they do
The emotional damage that the BTS storyline has caused me isn’t fixable. I highly recommend getting into the storyline. I did the same thing as you; I didn’t focus on the storyline for a while & just watched the MV’s. I think for me personally doing it like that was way more helpful bc since I already watched the MV’s, I wasn’t overwhelmed with new visuals I’ve never seen before & could actually understand what I’m looking for when it comes to the storyline.

- You're right - I Need U started their very dark and quite intricate fictional storyline. The original version is rated 19+ but there's a "kiddy" version and a Japanese version as well. For a bit of context, according to RM it was supposed to be "friend" but it didn't flow well in the song so it became "girl" instead. (Btw, XCeleste has made a really good one hour summary/"cheat sheet" of the storyline aka the BU because we're talking about a ton of mvs, short films, notebooks, a webtoon and even a mobile game. 😅)

Butterfly (the song at the end of the Run video) was the song that I fell in love with and got me into watching the storyline because I was in tears when I first heard the song. Run is a continuation of the storyline, but there is a video between I Need U and Run. It's called Prologue and it contains a lot of the early story line including why V was in the water during the Run video.

"Suga with the green hair" yes its a legendary look in the fandom MintYoongi (Sugas name is Min Yoongi) is epic. And the whole Wings album and the mv for Blood, Sweat and Tears are all tied to Hermann Hesses novel Demian (simplified its a story about a young man reaching adulthood but its more complex than that and pulls on Carl Jungs psychoanalysis and concepts something BTS come back to later in their Map of the Soul album series).

I Need U was actually supposed to be I need U friend instead of girl, but it didn’t sound as good. This is the song that changes everything for BTS. If this album didn’t do well, they were going to disband. It did amazingly well. They’ve never looked back. Has good choreo - watch a live or dance practice.
Run - it is connected with I Need U, but there is one video between them in the BU. On Stage Prologue - the song is Butterfly, but it’s not an MV. Strange I know. Run also has good choreo - watch a live or dance practice.
BST - the entire wings album is BU. This MV is filled with info. Again, not about a girl. The wings album is based upon Herman Hesse’s novel “Damien.” Lots of amazing lives of this one.

If you want more cute, sweet, flirty, but still dangerous Bangtannies I highly recommend the one-two punch that is Dimple and Pied Piper - there are several performances of those two songs together on TH-cam from 5th Muster. They're B-sides so no "official" video for either of them but the live performances - oof! Definitely look at the lyrics. There's also Serendipity - a Jimin solo song. There's an MV for it but the live performance is a must watch. The duality - oof. RM's solo Trivia: Love is an underrated song, too - cute and very very clever! If you want cute Suga (and who doesn't? Yoongi is my forever bias) then definitely Seesaw. The lyrics are sad but the dancey dance and all the smirks and smiles are an experience.
I saw that you're doing solo songs and I *really* hope you'll end up doing a deep dive into the whole rapline. All the members have great solos, but RM, Yoongi and Hobi have the largest and most diverse range of solos tracks. You also asked if there were subunits, and there are sometimes! I think rap line and vocal line split is the most common, but there are other subunits as well. MOTS:7 had good ones, so check out that track list. And please, please, once you get to know them a little bit better, for the love of all things Bangtan, go look up SOPE's (Suga and J-Hope's) Otsukare Song. 😅 It is the epitome of "hot dork" for both of them.
Other commenters have already told you about Butterfly, but I really recommend looking at a live performance of it if you can find one. The dance is beautiful. In fact, I think for FESTA this year they released a dance practice video on BangtanTV, so check that out!

I have been ARMY since 2020 and before that, the only thing close to K-pop I'd ever heard was Gangnam Style, so pretty new too in the scheme of things, and I love your reactions. In almost of BTS songs..JK is in-charge of most of adlibs, harmonizing, chorus & backing vocals.
The super high run in the back you thought was Jimin´s during DNA was Jungkook and that crazy run in Butter that you though was Jin´s was Jungkook again.
If you learn their voices which takes time, you will find it easy at the end. They all harmonize beautifully together and can easily complement each other, but vast majority of backing vocals, runs and ad libs are all attributed to Jungkook .
To see JK´s relaxed always smiling face during their performances is something that beacme his signature, the guy never looks pained, strained, exhausted or overly concentrated. He must truly love what he is doing because he does it with incredible ease.
I totally agree that mint Min Suga is something to keep close to heart and long hair Jin in ON era is pretty great too. That longer hair suits him really well.
And no, Jimin, Tae and JK are not a subunit :-) They just belong to dance line (plus Hobi) so they probably look more into it.

한국에서 인사드립니당 >0< I was a middle schooler when I NEED U and RUN came out, and that's what blew up BTS from a somewhat known idol group to a huge, rising stars. Not top-tiers yet cause they were still considered rookies and rising, but still army was growing fast, and people started to know BTS. (sadly I was not a fan yet... I was more into indie than idol music, but still was a music maniac and made it my job to know every song on charts haha)
I kinda remember our school dance club choosing a song to perform. This was definitely on the list cause it was such a hit, but everyone gave up after seeing the dance practice video. no one wanted to risk breaking a leg or a back. lol.
Oh and in Blood Sweat & Tears, you mentioned how a word sound like 'money money money' but it's actually 많이 많이 많이 which means 'a lot' or 'more'. it's actual pronounciation would be 'mani' in standard Korean, but they are accenting it to sound like 'man-ni' which is more of a dialect. fun facts!

I think you said it exactly, many of their songs tend to have a mixture of happy and sad. Some songs sound happy but might be a little darker/deeper, some sound sad but still have optimism. I also really like how, as you said, they don’t sugarcoat things- they acknowledge things might be be hard or not work out but they still have optimism. In their song “blue and grey” they sing “don’t say it’s ok when it’s not, don’t leave yourself alone” or in “2! 3!” (which is such a comforting song about staying hopeful) they sing “saying that there will be only good things from now on, saying that you won’t get hurt, I can’t say that, I can’t lie like that”. They always acknowledge there will be bad and instead of trying to deny it, it’s more about helping to find ways to deal with it. 💜💜💜
I just love their realness, like in the lyrics to magic shop “I won’t say obvious things like ‘cheer up’ but I’ll rather share with you my story”. Because sometimes you can’t fix everything and the best thing you can do is try to connect with the other person and be there for them.

I need you and Run take place in the HHYP era aka The most Beautiful moment in life albums, and that''s when the BU, ("Bangtan Unvierse, fictional storyline) begin. The 2 MV dive deep in the BU. (XCeleste have made a good explanation video witch summerize the BU theories if you want to check) . Blood Sweet and Tears take part of the Wings album/era, deeply based on a book : Demian, by Herman Hesse. It's about temptation, loosing innocence... recognize and embrace you dark side in order to grow, and extend your wings. The MV is full of symbol. DNA is from Love Yourself trilogy era. ON is part of the Map of the soul : 7 era, based on Carl Jung concept (persona/ego/shadow..) . There is a looot to say for each song, but you have time to go deeper later on your bTS journey (hope it will last more than a week ;) .. the mv is tied to the theme of the temptation (24:03 you can see a light spelling temptation), but that's not all the meaning, it's not just the metaphorical story about how we always want bad things. the MV and the whole concept of Wings album and its short films (don't try them yet, you need to be really indepth with BTS Universe to appreciate them fully) - in another words the whole era is based on symbolism connected to the Herman Hesse's book Demian, where the main character (MC) explores his psyche while growing up (spoken lines in this MV and short films are quotes from the book). Theme goes along with coexistence of 'dark' and 'light' in our lives. MC was taught to see only the good side of the world, which is wrong, because the world isn't perfect and has bad side too. One can't live fully embracing just the good. You should accept both. The quote from the book that i really like is MC's thoughts: 'Why are only pleasant things attributed to the God if he created the whole universe? Are not both the light and dark sacred?'.
The visuals of mv follow this theme: boys grew up and now facing new temptations to overcome or succumb to it thus they are acting defiantly, as if trying to seduce the viewer.
There's a lot of pieces in the MV that are full of symbolism: every picture, statue, sound, object
• an apple which means sin both in the religion and the book. Jimin is connected to an apple specifically, but they also all have an apple on their plate in the last supper scene (26:12)
• green color also plays the role of a bad things like a devil's blood or a poisonous absinthe reputed to be a hallucinogen and banned in some countries. Namjoon is connected to the absinthe, his lines are "But your wings are wings of the devil. In front of your Sweet is bitter bitter" (25:18). behind the sweetness of the drink (absinthe is often drunk with sugar) lies its real essence of bitterness. it symbolises succumbing to temptation and denying the real world in favor of an illusion
• a blindfold that keeps one from seeing the worlds as it is - then when blindfold is gone you see green tears (30:05)
• Black and white doors on the sides of the “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” picture (23:55) that can be representing the inner fight of good and evil. “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” itself depicts the fall into hell of angels who rebelled against God, they turn into ugly monsters and good angels give them battle. In fact, this is the main idea of the struggle between good and evil, the choice of your side in this battle. there were also sculptures of an angel and a demon on the sides of background in the set for the choreo (25:22)
• behind Jungkook's back is a painting of Icarus (24:42). I think everyone is familiar with Greek mythology and is aware that Icarus was presented with wings, but he could not resist the temptation and flew too close to the sun, causing the wax in his wings to melt so he fell. The story echoes the ideas of the song and the title of the album itself: "WINGS". Behind Tae when he jumps from the balcony is "The Fall of Icarus" too (27:11)
• a kiss of a fallen angel as an acceptance of a darker side and resolution of the inner chaos. Above the mirror in the MV there's a Nietzsche quote (who also has a lot to do with the book's ideology): 'You must have a chaos inside you to give birth to a dancing star' (30:09). It's a reference to Nietzsche's ideas about a superman - a creature who, in his power many times surpasses an ordinary person, denies fear and regret, and uncompromisingly follows the chosen path, being the creator of his own destiny. The superman is described in his book "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" and the ideas from there closely connect with "Demian"
MC in the book has a few mentors, with help of who he learns life - and you can see that in the beginning of the MV every younger member is paired up with older one + Yoongi playing organ is a direct reference to the one of MC's mentors. Jin is an observer just like the MC in the book. You also can notice that the rest of the boys are divided into 'good' and 'bad':
• Namjoon drinking absinthe and subverting yet innocent Jungkook into it: you can see him licking the green wax (25:56) while Namjoon was lightning up his absinthe drink, they also are in the same room full of green smoke (26:53). in the japanese version of mv it is more in the face (this version it's COMPLETELY different, but be careful, Japanese releases can get blocked)
• Jimin having an issue with temptation (holding apple 27:06) and Yoongi trying to save him from it (closing his eyes with a hand or a blindfold 27:57)
• Tae being the fallen angel himself and Hoseok representing hope and shooting a colourful arrow to him (26:24). I think Hoseok's theme is more prominent in the Japanese version of the mv. J-hope also has the statue of Pieta, that has the meanings of piety, compassion (25:25)
I would say that especially from Jimin-Yoongi pairing in this mv you can tell that there's no answer what is right: good or evil. The apple is the sin, but the sin is the part of the world. Neglecting it and being blindfolded prevents you not only from "bad" things but from living a life and being yourself: the blindfold holds Jimin to a closed door and doesn't let him go (28:24)
the Nietzsche quote also give a hint that hiding from bad may actually be worse then the bad itself, because without accepting all sides of self one can't reach their full potential. and BTS has a whole another era talking about exploring one's self
So the story is about exploring the world in its good and bad in order to explore your own self and become something greater

Focus on the small details in MV, the storylines too..Coz BTS mvs, lyricism are on different level. They have such genius word-plays, metaphors, ironics, philosophical & cultural refrences, symbolisms and stuff with also multiple sides of storyline or multiple meanings potrayed within one single piece of work/song. So, Their song don't stop with just straight-up translation of lyrics..Their meanings goes far beyond that with multiple in-depth explainations.

BTS is very good in breaking norms and using unusual combinations of genres, melodies, lyrics. A song may be uptempo and on the surface sound like a party anthem but the lyrics will be critical or sad while another time you may have a sad melody but uplifting, motivating lyrics. Which is why I love their musical versatility. They aren't afraid of exploring and mixing genres, beats, melodies, traditional and contemporary. It keeps their music fresh, interesting, new especially when they write in Korean and produce themselves.
Yes! you met Mint Yoongi! Ohh that JK in ON KMF keeps wrecking JK in other videos. Lol. My eyes zero in on him ALL. THE. TIME. I have to rewatch the videos several times to focus on the other members but JK owns me. Lol. Butterfly is also one of my favorite BTS songs along with 134340, Lie, Still With You, Pied Pier... The song at the end of Run's MV was "BUTTERFLY". Its a very beautiful song and my favorite song of BTS. It has everything in it so you should definitely check that out and also its dance practice or live performance as the choreo of this song is prettiesttt❤️

I only allow myself the tiniest bit of the storyline. What helped me is knowing that Jin is a time traveler and keeps trying to go back and change something to save everyone. So when I see a butterfly or the cards falling or when he looks into the camera like that, something changed- like the butterfly effect. If you listen to Butterfly, it’s great live and also there is a dance practice that I love.

Cute, sweet, sincere, but also flirting with you is in fact a great deal of BTS content, I wish you luck surviving it.
I mean we all lose our minds a bit every time Jimin shows us a SHOULDER. And as other people have mentioned, the live of Dimple/Pied Piper might kill you. Same for Filter. But if you want to see the song that makes straight men fall in love with Jimin (it's SO FUN to watch that happen) the top contender is Singularity. The music video and live performance both do it.

A lot of time BTS’ Japanese songs get overlooked & it’s a shame because their Japanese songs, particularly the ballads are beyond stunning. Film Out & Your Eyes Tell (both co-written & produced by JK) are lyrically beautiful & the live performances are vocally some of the best you’ll ever hear from them. Also, Let Go, Crystal Snow, Don’t Leave Me are incredible.
