Beam has so much potential and it keeps getting better as both the game and the multiplayer mod improves. There are a couple Motorstorm styled tracks on the beam repository which I think would be lots of fun to race on beamMP
@@kruleworld Last few updates have made a lot of work on the game aspect. The newest one did even more, it even added an early look at the career mode that will be coming.

Nice, I've wanted to see some content like this for a long time. Here's a few tips for next time, hopefully helpful ones: - You can spectate the others by pressing tab, or clicking them in the player list (I think). Then you can control the camera like you normally would, or you could go for action shots with the other camera modes (number keys) - In the new update which released today, they redid the driving assistants and there is now an understeer assistant. I haven't tried it but it's probably pretty good, it should be in the 'Gameplay' section of the settings
Always fun to watch when people try to do proper racing in games like this (BeamNG, Wreakfest etc). Makes you wish there was more damage models like these game in the other racing games. Really great track in this one.
It actually is one of the best handling cars, the default track tune is quite underpowered and doesn't turn in as hard as the car can, but once properly tuned the thing puts up one hell of a fight with a competent driver behind the wheel. People seriously under estimate it.
Setup makes a huge difference in Beam, for both the vehicle and the controller. From default the controller sensitivity curve is completely linear, which may explain why everyone seems to be a bit twitchy with the fine inputs. Also the suspension setups on the cars are far from optimized, and can be tuned to allow for much smoother driving on controller. If you don't want to get into that though I recommend at least lowering the tire pressures a little, I've found that it helps to dampen the bounciness that racing slicks seem to have in the game.
Hey, I have something for you guys next time you decide to run something like this, I haven't been able to contact alex, so I thought I'd reply here, I'm the developer for Cobalt Essentials and Cobalt Radar, two mods you used in this video, the latter of which is part of a larger mod called Cobalt Motorsports, a fully fledged BeamMP sim racing mod featuring tire wear, pitting, and the whole nine yards I've been trying to reach out by email for a couple weeks but didn't hear anything back, I have a few links to some other youtubers running the mod, reach out to me and I can hook you guys up with a session running it.

A friend of mine was IT for Lime Rock years ago. Attended a lot of events and turned some laps myself there. Great little road course tucked into the northwest hills of Connecticut.
As a Lime Rock native this is a beautiful recreation, I went to their Euro Cup and GRIDLIFE events recently and it was incredible camping around the back straight. Really fun short track and I can’t wait until I can set foot in my own car one day
Edit: Suggestions to make your experience racing better, and the whole presentation of the video better - -Use the UI app that shows a top down view of the car's beams so that you can tell exactly where actual damage is and don't have to guess -Tab to the lead car for better spectating of the race if you crash, free cam is not smooth enough and you weren't changing free cam speed to fallow people properly which made the whole spectating experience terrible. -It makes it a lot more interesting for us as viewers to see pedal and wheel inputs, the UI apps for those also sync with whatever car you're spectating and that's likely one of the coolest features of the multiplayer as seeing other peoples either really bad jerky, or really good smooth inputs is always fun to look at. -Consider racing from the first person view as it gives you mirrors, better ability to hit braking markers, and often looks cooler seeing the interiors of these cars. You still have the ability to look over your shoulder in first person too. -You should utilize the upper right player list to see peoples ping and know when you can race close to them, and when you can't. -I also would suggest trying some of the other tunes in the game, as well as making your own, because base model races are fun, the track hopper is really fun, and some of the Sport models handle far more balanced then the ultra track versions, and since they're slower, it makes close racing more possible and in my opinion makes the races far more interesting, as nobody get's way out ahead. vvv Original comment about the "competitive"/serious racing scene. vvv So the BeamMP racing scene, on private servers, absolutely pops off and partaking in said racing is some of the most fun I've ever had in the game, but we have a lot of rules and things to keep issues with desync in check, and people race cautiously as to not ruin anyone's race by desync ramming them. Ultimately we struggle the most with everyone having a powerful enough computer to run the game at a high enough fps to keep everyone competitive, sometimes I can't race in a 10 player race, because I end up having less than 20fps, and go from a competent driver to someone who looks like they're moving in slow motion, obviously the lower the fps, the worse you drive, but BeamNG absolutely shines when it all comes together and people aren't struggling with fps, we have a discord community that's filled with very competent drivers, all with force feedback wheels, and all with a very good understanding of car handling and track layouts, and while it's not a perfect experience yet, far from what you get in like i Racing or ACC, the people out here are there to have fun and take BeamNG for the driving sim it is. Serious competitive BeamNG racing is out there, you just gotta be able to drive good.
I live about 45 minutes north of limerock, and though I've never been I've spent a lot of time racing on the rack in games, and the beamng version does it justice. Also cool to see racecars drive by my house at the end of the weekend

Racing in a soft body physics game that is able to calculate and simulate real physics based on every part makes for a race where you have to be careful like in real life but at least if you make a big mistake in a video game the consequence isn't your wallet.
Beam has the potential to become the greatest racing simulator ever made. If they took to modelling tires like iRacing and (absolutely the last thing to focus on) the graphics while keeping a healthy modding scene it will become legendary. (Even moreso than it already is)
Would love to see you guys do a video of making your own cars on automation with a price limit and designated year then export and race on my beam! Who would go the American route with a big V8 or Japanese and focus on handling with a turbo inline 4?
That first race is how all of my beammp raced turn out lol. Everyone is good for the majority of the first lap and then cars start dropping like flies. Hitting walls, braking late on turns and dirty racing. It’s hard to be the point car in a race in multiplayer because you’re usually racing hard to keep the lead and you either brake too late or have someone rear end you coming up to a turn.. I find that if I start mid pack to back I can usually squeak out the win, dodging car parts on the track as I go around lol.
looks like a few keyboard players with all the twitchiness. everyone on wheels and i suspect youd get some very good racing here just like any other sim. also id love to see yall do this again on the nords ac port.
