- Hey y'all! So, of course, this game has multitudes of very obscure easter egg events, and I intend to show three of them off here. What they all have in common: They require the player to do something at exactly 3:33am. Yeah, it sounds like a clickbait concept at that point... but of course, the developer loves to add little things like this.
There are likely more than this, so if there's any others you are aware of, let me know. I'd love to catalogue as much as I can.

It's pretty funny that this stuff is here presumably to mess with joel (given the time and the bathroom creature) and he hasn't seen a single one yet besides the most common one
He has seen the bathroom wendigo ghost and the tunnel below becuz chat was abnoxious about it.
Dont think even the dev telling him, in person, that at 3:33 AM a plushie spawns in the breather den is gonna make him go and get it
It's not as funny as Joel having like 20 hours of playtime and finding like 3 - 4 total events because he's too scared to do anything else, or does things wrong.

I think the basement one is implying the player didn't actually go in there, and just ran around the base in some kind of witching-hour-induced mania, knocking everything over while hallucinating or something like that. But I could be wrong.
The fact you either need to run back the way you came or no-clip debunks that unfortunately

The haze effect in the basement is definitely to do with the depth of the character, since a similar effect is applied to the inside of the "bottomless pit". Kind of a letdown, but interesting to see how you need to FALL at 3:33am to activate it.
God, this gam is so fxcking cool. Perfect cosmic horror/meme/insanity/isolation simulator. I just a imagine a dark comedy horror show where it's basically like Charlie from _It's Always Sunny_ running around trying to listen for signals, fighting off entities all while being his hilarious insane Charlie self.
Game deserves way more attention for just how good it is, the documentation videos are their own genre of awesome content too and are always great to see. keep up the work, its very good so far
I believe that the basement spiral one has more to do with weird physics jank than anything else. You mentioned when you go far enough down, items stop rendering and dropped items disappear. I'd be willing to bet that the further you get from the surface, the more the physics engine janks up. If we were able to remove the wall textures you'd probably be able to see all your stuff jumping around the further down you get. It might even explain some of the weird noises heard on the way down.
Ngl, the Antibreather plush makes it worthwhile going near the cave at 3:33 am to get it, also good vid 👍

I was in the basement just today while scared shitless and with a camera to take pictures to get light and I found out there's eyes that appear at the lower levels before the ambient light reapears now along with black models that make the basement look like it has holes in it It was quite cool seeing it all

I love open ended games like these where people try to figure out mysteries. Hope the dev adds a huge multipart mystery one of these days similar to Signal Simulators secrets.

I noticed that the bathroom friend is actually te wendigo from when you incinerate the skull found in a recent update!
seems that theres parameters for players field of view during the wendigo event!
the 3rd one reminds me of house of leaves, even if dropped items disappearing is unintentional, it does line up with the house erasing anything brought into the hallways and staircase and main hall

I was unaware that there was a particular time frame for the brick door event, nor was i aware that you actually had to go down yourself for it to actually open.
I had placed a camera down there to hopefully see it when it opened while i did signals and other chores.
Nonetheless, very interesting!

For the brick wall in the basement (and correct me if I am wrong or it leads to a different easter egg) you can also just break it using rocks and a lot of elbow grease.

There is a channel called 'The Voices Network' that has made a video on a ritual that involves bringing all skulls in the game to the Stonehenge structure and subsequently being transported to another place, but actually refused to include proper video of them exploring the area, leaving any actual recorded documentation of the area incomplete. Could you possibly make a video about that?
I have been tempted to actually; the main issue is that, with a major update happening soon, I think I will hold off. As far as I know, the area is incomplete as of the current build, so I'd want to showcase the full version of it (as long as it actually gets updated with the new version of the game!)

@@TemmiePlays I found a different video that conclusively proves it's real, but the thing is that like... as softgremlin said, it's incomplete. The reason Voices Network didn't explore the "hell" area is that it consists of a single room that contains literally nothing capable of being interacted with, which crashes the game after a while. (Fake crash, to be clear.)
What about the backrooms-like area I saw some player fall into, I don't remember how they did it

Now that the base has been revamped and this basement doesn't exist anymore, I wonder whether than event has been fully removed or changed.

It's very actively being worked on, so it's still worth diving in I'd think; there's even a huge update that's possibly coming out later this month (don't quote me on that), so there will be oodles of new content, and likely secrets, to come with it!
Yeah. I think at some point the ambient light is caused by how distant you are from the actual map itself. And you know. How the light under (and around) you starts wiggling.

7:07 the footsteps sped up sounds like a old engine running
I think what happens is that the same effect that causes held and dropped objects to not be rendered/disappear from being too far down, is also screwing with the games physics, causing the objects in the base to be thrown around, rather than some sorta entity spawning and doing it.

Like to imagine the void and creatures of fantasy/mythology/legend are drawn to those who are insane. No one is ever gonna believe them and their insanity gives them form again in the physical realm.
the spiral staircase is probably just a small section that continously teleports you back to the start

Bruh, the toilet one i did on accident and I didn’t see what exactly it was, I thought it was a group of mannequins surrounding me, scaring me enough for me to Yelp in fear.
Maybe you can only get past the unpassable crawl at the bottom of the spiral staircase at exactly 3:33

With how many events and horror things there are in VotV, I wouldn't be surprised if they added something similar to the Mario 64 Personalizer urban legend into the game.

i could be completely wrong, but my hunch for why everything gets tossed around is floating point errors. if you travel far enough that your items glitch out, i imagine its possible that the collision of everything in the base glitches out too, causing them to move around like that

So, are you basically just documenting the random in-game occurrences? Or will you go over some of the terminal command things? Either way, it's cool seeing people make videos on events and such.

Apperently, the tiny guy from the cave is based on a monster called the "Antibreather", for another of the dev's game.

Nope, as soon as you start to fly you get teleported back into the base from what I know. It may forever be a mystery...!

It is not source actually, it's UE4! The game has a lot of nods to the Source Engine. That message in particular is fake, just existing as a cheeky reference to Garrys Mod etc!
1) incredibly underwhelming, but Joel wil find a way to act up,
2) I can definitely see this being absolutely terrifying and funny simultaneously,
3) honestly, wish the dev cut it by half because the reward doesn't mirror the effort. Also it looks like a collision bug like the cave. It's the sorta thing Joel would like, but if I viewed it on stream I'd probably be a little annoyed.
3rd absolutely sucks, it's literally meant to waste your time with absolutely zero payoff done in an annoying way, hell even when other games have some time waster secret/easteregg they atleast have the awareness not to overdue the joke to such a degree, that shit was a snore to watch sped up
I'm willing to believe Joel would cover the silence with commentary of various things. If he can beat Desert Bus, he can survive 30 minutes of nothingness.

good video! Man, the basement door is kind of disappointing, I hope the dev adds a little something to it, at least to entertain the player cause 15mins of just walking, to return to nothing but a messy base, feels pretty underwhelming and kind of frustrating.

Nope! Noclipping isn't in this version of the game. It was there previously, before this staircase existed. A player can FLY in sandbox mode, but doing so in that location will immediately teleport you outside.

nah, it's genuinely a pretty spooky game if you're interested in alien stuff. that being said, a lot of it *is* hand-crafted to scare the shit out of joel
